ppressey24 got a reaction from linah in Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
The people that can just eat less and exercise don't have a problem with food. My problem isn't with food, I actually can go days without eating, but that doesn't help u lose weight either. But I have MS and with every medication had steroids and it blew me up so fast, there was nothing else I could do. Plus, I had to stop the meds before surgery so I stay in alot of physical pain. Unless they're in your shoes, they really have no clue. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

It's the freakn hardest thing I've ever done in my life and I'm a mother of 2 sets of twins. They really don't understand watching what u eat, how much, not to drink and eat at the same time, chew 30x each bite, just all these small things u have to think of every single day Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

They were probably trying to be polite while thinking to themselves, what took her so long. My aunt said the same thing to me and I was like, who were u looking at? I went from 145lbs and a size 5 in a span of 3yrs. Had a traumatic accident on the job which disabled me and then found out I have MS. Everything that I was on had massive amounts of steroids in it and I blew up so fast. And of course while taking those meds, u can't lose the weight. So I'm suffering in pain without the meds for now but it's getting much better with 102lbs off of me so far and I'm 3 months out from surgery Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

You are doing great. I'm at 6 months out and I've lost a total of 128lbs. Yes, my hair is thinning but Idk if it's because of the surgery because I was a cancer patient so it could still be from that but hey, there's some beautiful wigs out here and I like to change my hairstyle a lot so I don't care about the hair. 1 thing for sure, you don't have to be bald if you don't wanna be bald this is my before and my 6 month which was 4/ of April 2017

Thank you. Right now I am in a loose 10 so I'm probably a size 8 ( but I'm tired of buying clothes that end up too big so I'm not buying anything else for a while ). I haven't been this small in years, well over 16-17 years.im still 20 lbs out from goal and surgery was 4months ago.
My husband is insecure about my new look I feel. He refuses to say anything about my weight except asking me if I regret it... no I don't regret having surgery one bit. I'm not as curvaceous as I once was but I'm ok with that. I feel really good and I look good in my clothes. I'm still working on my body because all together ( pre op and post op) I have lost 72 lbs. I can see a lil loose skin on my inner thighs but not too bad so I'm still a work in progress.

Today is my 100th day post-op. The surgery was on January 5th.

I don't post much, but from what I've seen and read it appears this group is doing amazingly well. The pictures that many of you have published documenting your transformation are truly inspiring.

At my last weigh in on December 21, 2016 at the doctor's office, I topped the scale at 326. A week later I began the one-week pre-op diet at 322. On the day of surgery I checked in at 309.

100 days later and fresh off a doctor visit yesterday, I am checking in at 247 pounds. There is still a long ways to go, but this is a 79 pound reduction since the first day of winter. Couple that with the elimination of all Type II diabetes medications and the vital signs returning to normal levels, you can't beat.

Yes, i feel you. Like i said, i wish id had those concerns while i was in the hospital but i went through those first 3 days perfectly. But as soon as i got home, i guess because i wasnt constantly hooked to the iv, a nurse coming around every 4 hrs with nausea meds, then i let it get out of control because my stomach was and still is just so darn tight that i didnt want to drink and then i got dehydrated and once that happens, its almost like a really bad flu that you just cant shake. The first episode of dehydration, i was so severely dehydrated that i had to get a couple bags of fluids, then it took me a week to get the strength to get back walking. I would lay down and felt like i was on a roller coaster ride, that sickening . And last but not least, I CANT sleep worth nothing now. Idk why, but i cant fall asleep, my stomach makes these wild ass sounds that drive my yorkie crazy. You can sit across the room and actually hear my stomach, how crazy is that? Keep in touch ok, and ill check on you. The weight is going to fall off, some faster than others.

Here, here, me to.....depression and anxiety. I suffer from PTSD from a accident that left me disabled but ive had some bad mood swings since surgery. Idk if its hormonal or what but it can get bad at times. But ive learned to walk away and count to 10. I was in the store last week and someone made a racist statement to me because she wanted to get to where i was but she didnt say excuse me. I said to her excuse me would be the correct and fastest way to get here. She said this is why my kind isnt welcomed here anymore. Whats my kind? Wonderful, beautiful, intelligent.? The manager overheard her and asked her to leave stating they wont put up with those type of things in the store. Boy was she mad. I think if i wasnt on my meds, she wouldve seen another type of person. So i guess, theyre working....dont stress to much. But please try to count before snapping at the wife. If shes the one feeding you, she may snap back....lol hang in there

So I had my sleeve done on Oct 4th, 2016. This was the best decision I've made for myself in along time. Even though I had a bowel obstruction 1 month after surgery, not having a bowel movement is a key,...lol, I would've had the obstruction without the surgery. It had nothing to do with the surgery. I got back up on my feet and hit the ground running, literally. Since starting the process in may 2016, today, I've lost 102lbs. I started in a 3xxxl, and I'm not in a size 10jeans. I'm really afraid, and wanna ask this question. Tell me if it's stupid....lol. is there a chance that your stomach can be to tight? Like the surgery itself? I mean, I know it's only been 3 months, but I'm still struggling to get all my fluids and Protein in. And today I was told to start eating foods which I already knew that but I get so full so fast I just stick to drinking Water or shakes. 2 spoonfuls and I'm in pain. Maybe 5 good sips of Water and I'm doubled over for 1hr. I've tried straw, and without straw, nothings helping. I read where people can eat just like they did, always Hungry, and I'm the complete opposite. I have to be reminded to eat something, I never want it, so idk if it's just me or if something needs to be checked out. Just wanna know if this is normal or just me, am I putting to much into not being able to eat much at this stage, 3 months is still pretty new. I guess I just need to hear some pros tell me I'm ok....lol. So someone tell me I'm ok....lol.

I haven't told anyone but my immediate family about my surgery so personally I haven't had many of those comments. But I know others who have
Mainly people seem to think that surgery is "cheating" that you could have just exercised and ate less and that was it. Well that doesn't work for everyone. There are people who can do that and be successful long term, but most people can't. How many of us have cut calories, exercised, starved ourselves, only to have lost just a few pounds.
Surgery is just another tool in the battle to loose weight. All the surgery did was change the shape of my stomach. I still decide what goes in my stomach, and I still have to choose to exercise. I can be bad and eat junk post surgery and gain weight, or I can be good and follow the plan and loose weight. The surgery was just a bit of help, most of the work is still up to me

My formerly good friend (one of very few I actually told) said 'Why would you tell me that? I didn't need to know that!'.
'Well I guess I needed to know you're a b***' was my imaginary response. The actual one was closer to 'Just in case you cared'.
She acted as if she was uncomfortable with me sharing such a 'personal' information. Fun! I'm so over her.
