@@LipstickLady I'm not looking for it as a treat I was just looking at the nutritional content of it and instead of having the frozen yogurt I bought that I'm not tempted by it at all I'm on my purée phase I'm down 23 lbs and I have self control ,it was just a healthier option for me being that I'm a diabetic that's all

I don't get why anyone would be upset at what someone else ate! We are all adults, all have been obese, all ate too much of what we shouldn't of, and all hated being told what we shouldn't eat.

kris2100 reacted to Clementine Sky in Why is weight loss a one size fits all scenario here? Different goals call for different approach
There are fairly standard guidelines that most bariatric patients are instructed to follow, but it's ultimately your prerogative what you decide works the best for you and the goals you've set for yourself. I was sort of a DIY patient since I had the VSG in Mexico, so I looked at the information reputable bariatric centers (Mayo Clinic, Stanford, Emory, UCLA) had posted beforehand because I didn't know how much I'd receive from my surgeon's office. I read enough horror stories about people having severe problems with eating foods too soon post-op to overcome the head hunger I experienced at first (bizarre cravings for things I never would have wanted otherwise) and follow the post-op plan precisely. Once it was no longer a matter of safety, but success, I made a few modifications. I'll have frozen yogurt, popcorn, whatever - in moderation, sparingly. I have been very careful about alcohol because even when I was heavy, I was a lightweight in that respect. Others can handle far more.
I've never sought permission or validation for any of my choices from this forum. If I had, I probably would have received criticism for some of my choices, and would have expected it. We don't know one another. We can't know about a stranger's personality or physicality to be able to offer up tailored information, so instead one-size-fits-all tends to be what's given. It's up to each of us to then decide if it fits us.

@LipstickLady. I didn't say it was ok to eat anything 3-5 days post. I would find it hard to believe anyone a couple weeks after surgery could eat a lot of things and not get sick and puke, I tried many foods and learned as I went of what I could and could not get away with, again, I did not get the surgery to go on a diet.I sucked on a chip and miraculously did not die, I am doing very well thank you. The day after surgery, I ate a Gummy Vitamin though, would not suggest at all. Surgery is long past, and I went about it my way. I feel the need we should be kind to everyone, and if they method is not a strict diet of high protein/no carb...then how about another approach. Does it bother you that someone could choose to get the surgery based on the idea that Portion Control, not food, is what makes you fat?

your support and encouragement are greatly appreciated... still doesn't mean I know nothing about diet soda, carbonation and so on...still doesn't mean I have nothing of value to add.. just bc you are able to drink sugar free soda wo effects doesn't make it good for you and going back looking for a weak post I wrote to pick on and use against be is beyond immature as well as appalling to me. Sure I can get upset and not like what someone says but not going to go look for things there struggling with to bring them down Wow

You know, I'm glad I could help. I too have been attacked on here by a small group that tend to feed off of each other's negativity. I was offended at first, but quickly found it funny that there was nothing better to do for them. Then just like with you, they tried to pass it off as caring "advice" lol please.....I wasn't born yesterday and don't need sarcastic or backhanded advice or concern. It's childish. Anyway, glad you are feeling better today. Don't be so hard on yourself. It's one day out of your journey. You got this!! Can't wait to see your results in the next few months. That's easier for some people than others. If I try to make myself eat/drink something I can't stand, I will throw it up. Every time. I get frustrated when people say "just buck up and eat/drink it". I literally can't.

There's a difference between a scolding and then a continuous battering. So yeah. Also, don't assume I don't take this process serious. We all have a food addiction and thats obvious or else we wouldn't be in the positions we're in. Some have it worse than others and for reasons only they can understand. I happen to be one of those people. Not one person is better than anyone else here and it's not okay to act as if u are because you've yet to screw up as I did. Everyone screws up and I pray for your sake and lipsticks' sake that when it happens to you, the people who hear you out will be kinder and more uplifting in your time of regret and need. I pray that for your sake theyll be less belittling and help lift you up instead of kick you while you're down.

I had surgery on 11/18. I am feeling well aside from some heartburn issues which seem to be improving a little each day (I hope that I didn't just jinx myself). My main issue at this point is that I am struggling to get enough Protein.< /p>
I'm only getting between 30-50 grams of protein a day, primarily from Atkins shakes which only contain 15g each. I've tried Premier Protein and Slimfast (recommended by the nutritionist) but they are just so gross and spending an hour forcing myself to drink one... yuck. I've tried adding unflavored Protein powder to strained cream Soups but that also has started to gross me out.
I think that once I can start eating purees and adding the Protein Powder to those -- hopefully this weekend -- I will have an easier time, but did anyone else feel this way and did you face any ill effects due to lack of protein.
On a positive note, I have lost 12lbs since surgery! I'm about to be under 200lbs, something that I haven't been for over a year!

sounds similar to my 3 month post op appointment. Only in my case it was the nutritionist who wasn't impressed with my 48lbs lost since surgery. She told me that was the very bottom end of where I should be. Now I will say, this was a new nutritionist as the one I had up to that point (who I loved and dearly miss) went to another hospital. So I asked this new nutritionist to go through my food diary with me - i had printed the last month's worth of entries from MFP. She refused and simply said I mustn't be logging everything - which wasn't true. I asked her for advice on where I should be calorie wise, carb-wise and fat-wise since I was meeting my Protein and Fluid goals. She said there weren't any guaranteed levels for carbs or fat regarding weightloss and that I had to figure it out myself. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed with her - don't tell me I'm not meeting expectations and then refuse to help guide me! Then my actual surgeon came in and was thrilled with my weight loss. And the fact is I was happy with that 48lb loss because I FELT soooo much better!
However I'm not looking forward to the 6 month post op appointment in 2 weeks. I've lost 34lbs in the last 3 months. And I'm 160lbs down from this time last year when I had my first appointment with the bariatric team. I just don't feel like dealing with her!
At the end of the day, I'm not trying to impress a nutritionist but rather my focus is regaining my health. And that I am definitely doing - my overall health hasn't been this good in decades. I am doing things that I couldn't even dream of doing this time last year. And that is success to me!
