Hannah83 got a reaction from SalOdyssey in All pre diagnostic Tests are done!
Well, it's finally finished all the tests that is! All my results came back as normal from the breast exam to the swallow GI tests! Woo hoo! *does a happy dance* it's nice to know that the exercise has done some good! It was really neat to see my midsection radiology pictures and see my abs! That was kick ass.
My dad will be coming with me to my final check up on the 12th of July. I invited him to put his mind at ease and to get to know the staff, I let him know that the surgeon is very conservative. She's more then once said 'I don't want to be the one to tell you, you have to have surgery.' And I appreciate that going into surgery with her on the 25th of July it puts my mind at ease.

    3-day Update:
I'm feeling a bit better everyday.
    - I'm off the liquid pain meds as I don't seem to need them. I also don't seem to need the nausea or antacid meds.
    - The gas pains these last few days have been the most challenging. Every burp and fart is celebrated. And walking around definitely helps to relieve those.
    - I still have a tightness in my chest though. I've been putting it down to gas pain but I'm not sure anymore so I'll be ringing the doctor today to check.
    - I had some leakage from one of the incision sites (on my sternum) yesterday (no signs of an infection though) - my husband and I were able to get dressings and alcohols wipes from CVS and redid the covering, which is looking better now.
    - I sleep on my side or my back with a pillow against my tummy. Partly to protect myself from any unexpected movement at night and partly for support as the belly button incision still 'pulls' a bit.
    - Yesterday I experience spasms of the stomach, but I've been given pills for that which I took every 4 hours. I also read some advice on here which said a warmer temperature might help, which it definitely did.
    - I haven't been able to get much Protein in last few days and I'll start again today as I'm feeling a bit more myself. But need to remember to sip very very slowly.
    - Finally, I haven't had a BM since surgery so last night I picked up some liquid Colace per advice from an RN from the hospital that rang to check up on me. She said Milk of Magnesia should be the last resort as it's a bit more aggressive on the gut.
I'll update again in a few days. Good luck all.

Well to the OP I agree on some level. Everyone is a case by case basis. Perhaps take a forum break? Come back with fresh perspective and new eyes if that makes sense? I've been hazed big time on the web and it can get ugly, so for what it is worth I hear you and wish I could reach through the screen and hug the crap out of every poster.
And opinions for the most part I liken to a butt hole, everybody has one. Take care and lighten up.

Hannah83 got a reaction from Ginger Belle in July 25th!
Well the date has finally been set in stone and I'm very excited. A bit of nerves with a bit of jitters, I'm guessing is normal. I've been preparing for the gastric sleeve for 11 months. In the six month 'trial by fire' period I got to know the surgeon, the staff etc. they are all wonderful! It's actually funny because I don't have co-morbid issues with the obesity so at 5'8" I have had to stay at 258-260 for six months (pain in the rear)
What was funny is the staff was talking about my insurance coverage and I was at 255 I think a few pounds below coverage in April and it was so cute that the staff (all females) were 'aw we hope she makes it because she's been working so hard' etc. The excitement was tangible
(I have high functioning Autism) but even I picked up on the giddyness. the surgeon I have told me point blank 'I don't want to be the surgeon that says you need this surgery if you can loose weight without it' and that meant a lot to me because it showed her care her conservative approach to surgery.
I told her that I have gotten very close to 199 in the 12 years that I've been trying everything under the sun to lose the weight (medication has made it hard to lose and keep weight off.)
I want a permanent tool in place that will 'kick start' my motivation (my will power is there) I've on my own lost inches all over in the six month time period gaining lean mussel mass with fat loss. I've gone from a 49 inch waist in January to 44 inches currently.
I am taking it easy because at the gym I pulled my new back mussels that I've been developing dose not make sense to be out of order before surgery. :-/
I feel confidant going under the knife with my current surgeon. I've been changing things for the past two years for example changing my anti depressant to one that is weight neutral. It was hell weaning off my other anti depressant and getting on a new one.
So, the changes have been hard up to this point and I have a very realistic view as much as I can have aside actually having the surgery done.
My faith in God helped me to overcome self injury. Went away to Mercy Ministries for seven months and did business with God to gain tools. Three years have passed sense then and I've been doing my best to walk out the 'life tools' I learned while there.
My testimony can be found here ------> http://mercymultiplied.com/2016/03/hannah-2013-graduate/
So that is abit about myself and my story thus far, just like the change of going all the way to St. Lewis Mercy Home the gastric sleeve will be sort of the same radical but good for me to move in the correct direction.
After all, this is my earth suit a vessel for the Lord, where He dwells and I want to honer Him by getting to the size that most glorify's Him so I can point to the One who is my Healer. Truly I overcome through Him only.
My family is supportive save my dad (he is supportive but just being a father as far as fear for his first born etc.) He'll come around. My mom, sister and grandmother are very supportive. I've prayed and asked God about this more then once doing soul searching etc.
I'll be posting here in the days, weeks and months to come. I hope to add hope, joy and love to this community.

Hannah83 reacted to FrankyG in Not losing am I done
I'm coming up on 1.5 years out and while it has slowed down, I am still losing, but I'm also still tracking every single bite of food and drink. I won't ever stop doing that because that seems like an easy way to stop being accountable. It's too easy to overeat, get too many calories or not enough Protein if you're not actually paying attention.
I also will eat low carb for the rest of my life because I know adding back in too many carbs makes me stall out and even gain weight. So another thing to really pay attention to is how many carbs you are eating daily since that's a surefire way to stall out weight loss.
Definitely suggest you track your food/drink, get your Protein and Water goals and keep your calories about 500 below the amount you burn, and you'll likely start seeing your weight loss start up again.
