This is crazy I have molina apple health. And I tried to get information on this year's ago and they said they don't cover baratric surgery period. My bmi is over 40 and I don't have any other health issues can one of you inbox me some contact information from molina? How do I find out who my case manage is?

I'm having my panniculectomy in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!! My pannis (my upper tummy skin flab) hangs below my pubis (my pubic bone). I had skin rashes, I've maintained weight loss for at least 6 months and I have tried and failed regular creams and such for the rash.
I also tried to get my arms done but my insurance company (who i happen to work for) denied them as being cosmetic.

Weight loss nurse just called and told me that she got me approved with medicaid!! I am as happy as can be. She said she's looking at a surgery date for me of February 8th!!

I followed my surgeons plan... but it allowed me to have purée as tolerated immediately after surgery. I sure didn't slurp more than a bite at a time. I took it slow and some days didn't feel like having purée anything, but it was nice knowing I was allowed if I wanted to.
I was careful with what I had and did not have any complications.

I am not here to judge anyone however I live about 2 1/2 hours from anywhere and will also have no support system. I was planning on this site and two other sites as support. If this is how you treat someone who has a question about diet who comes in a moment of stress I better consider support from somewhere else. I would be in tears.
I am an RN and feel you guys attacked this person.
It's very hard doing this miles from anywhere. I am having trouble getting all I need from my doctors office as I am educated and need answers at a clinical level. I know they all are dreading meeting me pre op. However I have to be prepared.
I have tried products from BariatricPal and another site so I know what I like and don't.
But let's be kind we are all at different stages in the process. We are all at different knowledge levels. We all need support.

so even though you are backhandedly slapping me for my newbie advice, one of the things I posted in my statement was exactly what you said about insulin production But ya know I'm a pre op newbie, I apparently kniw nothing...
I'm very disappointed with the extreme pride here...I thought this was a safe community where everyone struggling was welcome to share

So much for the theory that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

I had surgery to be pretty. I'm sure I am the only person that had surgery for vanity reasons... okay I mean, I was prediabetic and in a lot of pain and couldn't handle steps, yadda yadda. But me looking at myself in the mirror and hating what I saw was what pushed me over the edge. Being jealous of people who were living full and happy lives did it as well.
I worried some about hair loss and loose skin, because I'm a self pay patient. Skin removal is not always covered by insurance-- in most cases, in fact, I don't believe it is. So I would be looking at an additional expense if I went through with it.
So, yes... people will ask about loose skin because they're thinking ahead. Can I afford to have it removed? Do I want another surgery? Is this decision NOW worth what I will go through in a few years? i have a friend who had RNY who lost a ton of weight but can't afford skin removal, despite the fact that her pannus is beginning to be bothersome. It's a valid question that people ask, and asking here is research.
A little something to remember while you're judging people for looking at the whole picture.

I was told DO NOT stock up on my favorite Protein shakes because my tastes might change.
I didn't listen- then developed a strong intolerance to whey Protein. Oops.
Still have a basket of Protein Shakes & powders in my kitchen that I cannot use! Bummer

I live in Washington, but just spent three weeks in Maui. Three gloriously warm weeks! Although I did have a few times here and there in the evening when I would get cold, it was the warmest I have been since surgery.… But I had to come home to Washington. We're supposed to get snow tomorrow, I'm terrified of how cold I will be

I started at UW in February, testing in march, had to wait 3 months for h pylori treatment, then submitted in June, surgery July 27.

Once UW sent the request for approval, it was approved in under a week.
I had surgery about 6 weeks later (first available on the schedule)

Unfortunately, it appears it is definitely the norm for certain users. But you'll get to know who they are though and can just skip over their comments (that worked for me). You can get a lot of good information and positive reinforcements from most users here if you can look pass the negativity. At the end of the day these tools help us fix whats on the outside, but the inside is a whole different story. Thanks to the original poster for hopefully helping some of us avoid what sounds like a very debilitating mistake.

I was cleared for salad @ 6 weeks- but Nut told me to stick to kale or butter lettuce- more nutrition & easier to eat than romaine or iceberg

** Update!!!
Tomorrow I will be meeting with the Social worker at UW Medicine. I have been so proactive trying to get all of my appointments scheduled and out of the way! This appointment was originally scheduled for December 1st, but I have been calling them like crazy checking for any cancellations, which is always good to do if you want things to move along as quickly as possible!! If all goes as planned, all of my requirements will be completed by the end of November!
