buckleysmom got a reaction from greenlora in Surgeon just tried to talk me out of balloon
The only thing I qualified for is the balloon as my
Bmi was 30. I'm three mo post op and have lost 36 pounds. Couldn't be happier. Fist few days are rough but not bad beyond that. Orbera website has lists of approved doctors who are skilled in and supportive of the procedure. I hope to lose another 15 lbs these remaining three months.

buckleysmom got a reaction from NPR in 11 days w/ balloon and I feel horrible!
It is normal. Having the baloon is no walk in the park. I felt that way for about 10-12 weeks also vomited everything. Got dehydrated despite the meds. Now that I'm 5 months out I feel that the seriousness of how you might feel is very much downplayed by the doctors offices and their staff. I went through 2 periods of time whereby I wanted the balloon removed but I'm glad I hung in there. Losing over 40 pounds is worth it to me

buckleysmom got a reaction from NPR in Balloon REGRET!
I felt pretty bad for a couple of weeks, maybe longer, but no regrets at all. 45 pounds gone and for the last 4.5 months I've felt great. Its totally worth it. As far as you possibly being discouraged by the weight loss after 8 days, keep in mind you might be getting dehydrated and the body will hold on to Water weight until that's corrected, so sip small amounts several times an hour to up your fluids and ill bet you'll start to see some serious weight loss. Hang in there.

I have a date for my balloon insertion. Next Wednesday! I'm very excited but nervous too. Hopefully I'll be able to manage the nausea and cramping.
I held a balloon at the doctors and I must say, I was surprised how heavy it felt.
Any hints or advice for me? Can;t wait to join you all on this journey and lose this weight and get my health back.

It's very possible I'm not eating enough. I haven't lost any weight since the first week so my mind is telling me to stop eating. Yesterday and today I have eaten More so we shall see what happens. Hunger feels different with the balloon, I get sick to my stomach. How about you!

I don't blame the messenger actually, the message was one of concern. Something like I see he is involved again are you ok. Since their name wasn't their real name I don't know who it was.
I really do appreciate the support here. I don't have many friends and it does help just to get it out.

Is it any consolation that she's gutter quality on top of everything you described? A stranger sending you a message about something that touches on your private life? Another "social media" lowlife freak and deservedly insecure and jealous.
You're hurting, yes, but you're better than that. Better than either of them individually or together. Sophie, if you calm yourself long enough to look at things as an outsider, you'll know you don't want him.

You're hurting. For that I am sooo sorry.
It doesn't matter who did what to whom. You are hurting.
Be kind to yourself. Allow yourself time to wrap your head and heart around your new life.
It takes time---sometimes a great deal of time to mourn the loss of a marriage. Time doesn't always "heal" those wounds that cut so deeply. One can only hope to "calm" the hurt--leaving nothing in its place but a scar. It's the scars of such painful times that prove we were brave enough to give love a chance with an open heart.
Just because your spouse did not honor his vows, does not dishonor you in any way. Your integrity is intact. Integrity is what should keep your head held high, shoulders straight and your dreams of finding love again shining bright.
Until you are ready to love again, be kind to yourself. Learn to love yourself. Be your own best friend.
Life and love will circle around and scoop you up again.
    I promise.

No regrets and would do it again, but I'm only a couple of months in ... who knows what I will think several months (and years) from now. :-)
So far I've lost almost 30 pounds. I hope to lose 50+ by the time I'm done (key word is hope ).
My first month was not as difficult as some that I've read about, but also not as easy as some others (makes me wonder if I'm the norm/average?). My first 2-3 days were not a lot of fun, but I was fine to go back to work after less than a week, and two weeks in I felt pretty normal.
I would recommend it to others only if they were a good candidate, if they were really informed about the possibilities (good and bad) and if they were willing to commit to the process. It's still a lot of work ... it's not a cure - it's a tool. And, frankly, it just may not be the right fit for everyone. But I think it was the right decision for me and I'm glad that I did it.

I would likely not do it again or recommend it. The first month was very difficult (nausea, vomiting, fatigue, a lot of frustration). The second month was better but as the nausea decreased my appetite returned. I feel nearly no restrictions now at 2 months and nearly 2 weeks post balloon placement. I'm down 20 pounds but think I could have done that myself. Now it is the fear of throwing $8000 out the window that has me going. Ask me again in a month and maybe I will feel differently though...
By the way, I started with 50 pounds to lose. If be happy to lose 40 and I'm more than halfway there and less than halfway through the balloon placement period. If I attain my goal, I would likely say it is worth it. I am hopeful I will do it, but it will be with a lot of work and self control.
    Good luck to you!

it is also helpful to have a stool to put your feet up on. helps you get into a better posture for it to pass. I really struggled with constipation/impaction the first 4 months. now that my diet is more varied I only need a stool softener and benefiber to keep things normal. I hope things normalize for you as well.
