  1. ok well as most of you know I had my surgery changed from December to November.. Today is the big day. I have to leave for the hospital in an hr. I am not as nervous as I thought I would be, but I am sure I will be as the time gets closer. My home computer crashed so. It will be hard to keep you all posted but I will do my best. It has been a hard 2 days have not been able to eat at all only liquids my last meal was Sunday Night.. I was able to drink clear liquids until 9 this morning so that helped a little..Please keep me in your prayers and I will let you all know my progress as soon as I am able to get to a computer
  2. I was suprised too. When the Dr's office called me this morning they were originally going to change my date to the 22nd of December but the company I work for is getting ready to change insurance so the Dr found a time to fit me in earlier. I guess that is the benefit of being from a small town in Nebraska.
  3. Hi everyone.. My Surgery is November 18th In Nebraska.. I was original scheduled for December 5th but the Drs office called me today and moved it up.. I am excited that it is sooner but I am really nervous now. before I had month to prepare now I only have 5 days.
  4. I just got the news today I can no longer be a Holiday Hottie. My Surgery was Scheduled for December 5th. The Dr's Office Called me this Morning and Had to Change my Surgery Date. The good news is they Moved it to Next Week November 18th.. I was not nervous before but now I am Really nervous. I keep thinking of everything I need to do to get Ready and seems like I don't have enough time..
  5. Florida Pete.. Thanks for the new poll. I love your Banner you are going to have to tell me how you did it..
  6. Congratulations to all of you December 5th people I have been counting down the days cant wait.. I keep hearing a lot of people talk about a liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery. I am so lucky I don't have to do that. My Dr. requires liquid 24 hrs before surgery and that is it. I wonder why requirments are different?
  7. I am getting banded on 12-05-08 in Scottsbluff Ne which is about 3 1/2 hrs from Denver..
  8. as long as we can prove you have been overweight for 2 years that is all you need. I was pregnant in 2006 and sent them my weights from everytime I seend the obgyn that year and they accepted those. So as long as you have something from the Dr office showing your weight they will accept it.
  9. My Vote is for the Holiday Hotties. I think that one fits both genders well.
  10. Congratulations. I am also being banded on December 5th.. Dont have any recipes yet but will keep my eyes open for something good.
  11. Congratulations.. What day in December. I am being banded December 5th
  12. I got a call from The Dr's Office Yesterday and My Surgery has been set for December 5th. I started my Journey In January so I am glad to finally have a date. I think the hardest part right now is the waiting.. I guess we can all be on the countdown together.
  13. OH My goodness I am so excited the Surgeons office called my Today and my Surgery is scheduled for December 5th.. I started this whole Process in January so I was beginning to think this day was never going to come. I am excited and nervous at the same time. For anyone out there who is having problems getting approved don't give up because it is worth the wait
  14. candy3223.. why do you need to have a cardiac clearanceto get approval they way my Dr does it is you have to get approval for the bariatric surgery first. Then they will set up a pre operative appointment and they will handle all of those tests then.. because they are preop testing they are automatically covered so I am not sure why you would do the test before you even get approved for surgery
  15. Yeah you have to have the 2 current years of weight.. I submitted 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.. They all proved I was overweight but I was denies because 2006 was missing.. So make sure you have 2006 2007 and 2008 cause if not they will probably deny you.. Also make sure that your dietician gets a copy of the 3 month diet guidlines and that you go over all of that with her and she notates it all down.. I seen on here that some people pay extra to see and excercise specialist but I did not do that and was approved I just told the dietician I was walking on my break at work and going to the gym a few days a week she would ask me evertyime I seen her and then she would notate it in my file.. You may want to try something similiar.
  16. doots43.. Aetna will approve you, you just need to make sure you have everything they are asking for.. I did the 3 month diet. For this I seen the dietician every 2 weeks and she went over behavior modification, diet, and excercise then i seen my physician at the beginning of the diet and again at the end. What held me up was I was pregnant in 2006 and didn't think about not seeing my regular Dr. that year so when I had my Dr send everything in it did not dawn on us that 2006 was not there.. that is why i was denied.. So just make sure you have everything the require and you will get approved.. Good Luck to you
  17. :biggrin:Aetna Called me today and I was finally approved, I didn't think this day was ever going to come. I did the 3 month diet and submitted everything at the end of June. My weight history from 2006 was missing so I had to appeal and it took 2 months to go through appeal process. But it was all worth it today when they called me. After work I am going to go pay my $1000 down so they can schedule my surgery..If anyone else has Aetna there really is hope out there:biggrin: don't give up and be persistent it will happen as long as you meet the guideline.
  18. clickersister. I am going through the same thing my appeal was sent to my insurance company on August 18th.. When I called to see if it was received they told me yes. Then I called 2 weeks later to check the status and was told it was sent to the wrong place and everythign had to be re-done.. Then I was told that on Sept 3 it was sent for outside review. When I called again on the 15th they gave me the # for the outside review place and they told me they just received it. So I called my insurance company again on the 22nd and they called the 3rd party and I was told it would take 1 to 2 more weeks. I definetly feel your frustration. I had a friend that submited after me and has already been approved and had her surgery that makes it 2 times as hard.. But just hang in there. It will be worth it in the end
  19. Yeah I already got them and resubmitted. Now it is just a waiting game
  20. I was just denied by Aetna because my Dr . Did not Submit my weights for 2006.. They submited 2003,2004,2005, 2007 and 2008 but 2006 was missing. But because there requirments are for 2 yrs the denial letter told me I needed 2006 to prove i was overweight. When I called the rep I asked her if they thought i got skinny for 1 yr. Anyways 2006 through 2008 would be what they require, If you plan on getting the surgery next Yr I would probably send them 2006-2009 then you know you are not missing anything
  21. I am still waiting on my approval from Aetna. I was submitted on 08-01-08 but nothing yet.. I have been calling them everyother day and keep getting I am pending.. WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO TAKE SO LONG.. Does anyone else seem to be having this problem
  22. sdpatt39. Good luck on your consult I know right before mine I was a nervous wreck. After I went to my consult they went ahead and submitted me it Aetna without the diet and Aetna came back and told me to do either the 3 or 6 month diet.. Because I wanted to have the surgery this yr. I decided to do the 3 month supervised diet. My PCP. referred my to a dietician and I gave her the guidlines of the 3 month diet she seen me every 2 weeks and covered everything that they required. I noticed on this website some people seen an excercise therapist.. I did not do this..The dietician would tell me what excercises to do, she had me keep a food journal and put me on a low cal diet we worked on changing me behavior by trying to eat slower and watch portion size, then when I would see her we would go over what I did and what I needed to do different. I lost 6 lbs at the beginning but gained it back at the end. I hope this is enough for them as soon as I hear back I will let you know. and I will keep you all in my prayers that you too get approved through aetna
  23. I was finally submitted to Insurance Today. I am praying that it does not take to long to get approval.. I have heard some people are approved in 1 day and others in 30 hope mine is closer to the 1 day mark  In January I decided I wanted the surgery and was unable to attend the seminar until March. I then started my 3 month Diet and thought I would be submitted once I was done with the Diet at the end of June, but instead it took my Dr. office a month to get my Records together.. Now I hope that I don't have to wait another month to hear back from Aetna.. If anyone has any advice on how they handled the wait I would love to hear from you
  24. If you click on this link it will take you to the aetna website and show you the requirements for the surgery Obesity Surgery
  25. what all did you do on your 3 month diet.. I have a week left on mine and want to make sure I didnt miss anything
