getting very discouraged
Maybe you need to call around and see if there is another Dr. that you can see..My Dr. Only Charges $55 for a fill that includes the office visit. So maybe you need to find a Dr. that is willing to work a little better with you and that may be a little cheaper.

Using Implanon as Birth Control
I have been on Birth Control for about 14 years. After my band I found it was harder to take cause some days I just couldn't get anything down. On Friday I had the Implanon put in which is an implant in your arm..Since I have had this put in I have not been able to eat anything at all. I was just wondering if anyone else is using the implanon and if they have ran into similar problems..Am also worried about gaining any weight would love to hear from other users..Thans

Notorious Novembers 1 Year Bandaversarry
Well at lot of us our coming upon our 1 year since we got the band would love to hear how everyone is doing. I see the Dr for my 1 yr appt on November 14th. According to my scale I am currently down 72 lbs. The past year has had its ups and downs but overall I am happy with my Band. I still have about 50lbs to go but am still losing. I Have not had a single month where I have not lost anything so that is really good I hope I can keep that up until I reach my goal weight. I have really been slacking on the excersice for the past month but am working getting back on track with that as well. Would love to hear from everyon else and will update you more after I meet with the Dr.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I was so glad to find this forum. Someone on another one recommend the c25k program to me and I tried it a few days ago..I was only able to complete about 1/2 of the 1st week. I think I will have to stay on week 1 for a while..How many of you had to do the same thing and how long did it take before you were able to graduate to the next week..Any advice would be great

What would keep you coming to support group?
I think it would help to have someone that has had the band for a while co host the support group then as people have questions they know who to ask.. A few months ago our support group hosted a chef who had the bypass. I think the cost was $25 a person and he cooked a meal and showed people how to measure there portions and all that good stuff. I was unable to make it but I heard it had a good turn out. I am sure who could research it on the web. I cant remember his name but sure you can come up with something..

What would keep you coming to support group?
Before I moved I went to a great support group. The lady that ran it is a lap band patient herself and actually works for the Drs office that does the surgery. She would try to have guest speakers every couple of classes one time it was a lady from the gym showing different excercises she had the dr come in, a psycholgist, A Nutrionist that took us shopping and showed us out to read labels. Twice a year they have a clothing exchange. It was stuff like that, That kept me going. It was also nice to have someone that went through what I went through cuz even though I had my surgery 10 months ago I still had questions. I hope some of this helps

Newly Banded! Caloric Restriction & Amounts
I went through the same thing. I was told that the first 4 weeks are devoted to healing and that you are not trying to lose weight in that time frame. So you want to keep drinking your liquids. As soon as I got my first feel at 6 weeks post op The feeling subsided somewhat but not completely it actually took me 4 fills I am now at 6.3 before I actually got that full feeling. I would just try to be patient as we are all different and the band works differently for all of us. I think once you get a fill you will feel much better

going swimming at 1 and 1/2 weeks post op
I too was told to stay out of the swimming pool and hot tubs for 6 weeks after my surgery. They wanted the incisions to be completely healed so as to not risk infections.

3 Minutes in between bites
I have always heard 3 bites of Protein to 1 bite of Carbs or Veggies but never just 3 bites of food per meal.

Feeling Down, looking for a little support
Wow 68lbs that is awesome I was banded 10 months ago and have only lost 56lbs. So I think you are doing awesome. I am original from Nebraska. I just recently moved to Colorado. But would love to talk to. Like you I am always looking for new people to chat with.

3 Minutes in between bites
That is something else my Dr says not to do. He says you need to set down and eat and not get up and do stuff cuz when you do that you are grazing. I tried to time 3 minutes in between bites and it is way to long. If I wait about 1 minute I am good. It also depends on what I am eating. If I am eating meat I have to wait a little over a minute but If I am eating something soft like potatoes I dont have to wait at all.. I guess we are all really different

Question to those w/ band about pre-op diet
My Dr didnt require a post op diet. The only thing he required was the day before the Surgery was allowed liquids only and had to drink the Magnisum stuff to clean you out. So you will probably be ok if you slip once or twice.

Time between meals
I think that everyone is different on this. My Dr says to only eat when you are hungry. When I was first banded I felt like I was always hungry and could easily eat every 4 hrs. However after my last fill. I am up to 6.2cc's I stopped eating breakfast. I no longer wake up hugry. I eat lunch at about 11 and supper at about 7. So I am able to go 8 hrs in between meals now. There are days I do have a light snack but my Dr says this is fine as well, as long as you only eat when hungry.

How long does procedure take?
My surgery took 1/2 hr and I had to stay in hospital overnight. Not because I had any problems just cuz that is my Dr's Requirement. I was up and moving around the day of surgery though.

3 Minutes in between bites
I thought the 3 minutes was standard kind of glad to know that it is not. I do chew, chew, chew as they say and put my fork down between bites, but I thought since I was not waiting the 3 minutes that maybe I was eating more that I should be. So I guess I am probably right on track. I get full fairly quickly and eat off a childs plate so I think I am probably doing everything just fine

3 Minutes in between bites
I want to know how many of you actually wait 3 minutes in between bites of food. I had my banding November 18, 2008 and am down 56 lbs. I think the reason I have not lost more is I am eating too fast. Would love to hear from those that do and those that dont wait the 3 minutes to see if there is a big difference in weight loss.:smile2:

?? for experienced bandsters
I asked my Dr. this question when both my kids had the flu and I was afraid I was going to get it. He told me to automatically go to liquids dont eat anything solid. Call them for an anti Nausea prescription and if that does not work to go in and have all the fluid taken out of your band they will put it back in after you have recovered. Hope this helps

ATTN scale watchers in Bandster Hell!!
I would quit watching the scale. The gym I go to measures me monthly and one month I only lost 2 lbs but I lost 4 inches from my hips. Sometimes I think it just takes your body time to catch up

Sorry guys this is a ? for the girls...
I had the same problem I was always regular with my periods then after I had the surgery and started to lose weight they became irregualer. I talked to my Dr about it and he told me it was normal. That it had to do with your hormones and the weight loss and not to worry about it.

Approval from Aetna finally
Without the weight from 2007.. You may run across some issues.. Did you ever go to a quick care or someplace where they may have possible weighed you.. If not you need to make sure you submit a letter stating that you were not seen by a dr in 2007 but you are submitting 2006 and 2008. Just make your letter as detailed as possible.. They accepted my pregnancy weight for 2006 so I am sure they will accept whatever you can come up with.
