Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Great job. I’m a little over three years out and have lost 190 lbs. I have not had the skin removal surgery and I may not need it. How much actual weight did you lose from the skin removal surgery? Im still debating the surgery.

Your Feet & Shoe Size ?

I’m 2 1/2 years out. I wore size 12 before the surgery and now I comfortably wear a 10.5. My feet were swollen and hurt a lot before the weight loss and now they look and feel normal. Aggietop

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

I started at 489 and was 475 on the day of my surgery in February of 2016. I’m currently 284 and steady at this point. So I’m down a total of 205. I lost most of the weight during the first year. The health issues I had before are gone and I feel great and I’m fairly active now with bike riding, walking and swimming. Good luck to everyone on this journey. This thread was very motivating when I started over 2 years ago.

I had the sleeve and my surgeon recommended the sleeve for me over other options. I'm 18 months post surgery. Surgical weight was 489 and I'm currently at 284. More importantly my health has responded and I feel great. Best of luck to you. Aggietop

Questions from a younger bigger man

It was a great decision for me. I was 49 on the day of my surgery and weighed 489. I'm 14 months post op and now weigh 295 and I'm still losing slow and steady now. I've lost 194 lbs in 14 months. The diabetes, HBP, sleep apnea, bloodwork issues and basically every ache and pain I had are now gone. I have great energy and feel wonderful. Good luck to you. I'm down 180 at the 11 month mark. I feel the same way about the midsection. Im going to start more ab work to see if that helps some. I think all of us that were over 400 probably had most of our weight in the midsection. I guess it makes sense that it's the last area to go back to normal. At least I'm Hoping. Aggietop

We haven't had many updates from some of the posters from the past few months. I would love to hear from some of you. I just had my 10 month anniversary. Weight loss has slowed the last two months but I'm still losing and have now lost 175 lbs

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

I had my 9 month anniversary on Friday. I've lost 164 lbs to date and hope to be in the 200's for the first time in 20 years by my one year anniversary. Feeling as good right now as I did 25 years ago. The weight loss has slowed now, but I'm still losing 10-12 lbs a month for the last three months. Best of luck to all of you for the continued journey towards being healthy. I love hearing the updates from all of you guys, it is very motivational. Aggietop

    Feeling Weak on Pre-Op Diet

I felt like I had the flu for about 5 days when on the pre op diet. Hopefully you were already off caffeine or you may be getting those withdrawals too. Surgeon told me that I would probably feel that way on the pre op diet. aggietop

The preop diet was rough for me too. I only did it for two weeks, but I felt like I had the flu, the whole time.

As far as the swelling goes, I'm 7 1/2 months post op and I no longer have any swelling in my feet and legs. It was a problem and I had some pain from it before but did not take meds for it. I fly internationally on flights up to 16 hrs and no longer have a problem with swelling in my feet or legs. Also, I was wearing 12 1/2 shoes because of swelling and now I'm back into 11's

SGC, my surgeon told me that it would be a good idea to stay on the gout medication for now because of the high Protein diet. He said with the increase in protein, many people have flair-ups. I stayed on the med and haven't had any trouble. aggietop

Let's get this thread active again with some updates. I'm 7 months post op now. I've now lost 146 lbs and feel great. Started at 489 and I was 343 this morning. . I need to up the exercise now since the weight loss has slowed down some and I'm not burning as many calories. I'm off most of my meds now and was able to stop using my cpap in mid July. Would love to here some updates from the guys a few months ahead of me. Good luck to everyone's continued success and to all of those still in the pre op phase. Mikesyracuse1
