Change your shower head to the kind that are removable, especially if you're not ok with the idea of a bidet. Super helpful and you'll love how clean your parts feel forever after. ☺

    Sleeved May 10th
    Original w 264
    Surgery w 245
Current w 234 but I've been the same now for 3 days. Don't think I'm getting enough Protein. And my surgeon is super strict. I'm on full liquid for 2 weeks, (1st week was clear only) no Jello. At week 4 I can do soft foods. Not hungry but the head hunger struggle is real.

    This was me then.
    This is me now.
    This will be me forever.
    21 pounds to go!
    I thank myself everyday.
If I can inspire just even one person to get their life and health back... or for their first time - then I'm happy.
    I'm happy anyways! ????

This scares me too! What happened to only getting WLS if you had 100 lbs or more to lose - or you had significant medical issues (diabetes) that would resolve with GB. When I see what is probably a "normal" sized person (except on the BMI chart) removing 80% of their stomach or re-routing their entire intestinal system to lose 40 - 50 lbs - I wonder what the hell were they thinking. I think this also gives a bad opinion of WLS in general and why some think it's the "easy way out".

Also, why didn't I lose 70 pounds in 2 months and get to goal in 3? My husbands best friends sister's cousin lost 100 pounds in 3 months having WLS.

Even funnier are those by people who have. I do realize that when people research surgery, they may not research all the varieties (or even their own!!), so of course there may be misunderstandings, but when other WLS patients spout off "facts" about surgery with no real basis for their beliefs, I've got to laugh.
It's been an epidemic around here lately, so let's see which "facts" we can debunk.

**DISCLAIMER. I am NOT an expert on anyone but me. I had sleeve surgery. I am confident that I can not talk about bypass, bands, balloons, revisions, switches, etc. with any personal knowledge. This thread is for sh!ts and giggles only.**

Sleeves do not "grow back". I know the whole stretching thing is debatable but I can say without a doubt, they don't grow. And yes, there is a difference.

You cannot feel your staples through your skin. If you can, you've lost far too much weight and should seek immediate medical attention.

If you have a sleeve, you do NOT have a pouch.

liquid will not stretch your sleeve no matter what kind of liquid it is. Liquid runs through a sleeve quickly.

You can eat around your sleeve (I did it yesterday), so you do have to be forever mindful of this tool you now possess.

Your way is not the ONLY way nor is MY way. Neither are the BEST way, either. There are a lot of different roads, hopefully they all end up at the same destination.

You cannot/will not poop out your staples. Really.

The advice being given is not judgemental....it's simply the honest truth. Sure, it's not what you or the OP wants to hear because it's not supporting and justifying going against surgeon's orders. But the advice IS being offered in the hopes of possibly saving a life (or at least an extended hospital stay). It's been less than a week and you are eating solids cause you are "over" shakes and cream Soups? ! Give me a break. i was on liquids for over a month and never once did the thought of eating off plan even cross my mind. My health and safety were far too important. I was committed to my choice and everything that goes along with WLS.
Do you realize our stomachs are being held together with a very thin line of teeny tiny staples? Do you know what a piece of tuna fish or salmon could do to that fresh, raw incision if it gets stuck in the staple line? The postop diet instructions exist so that we can heal without complications. It's not a torture method handed out by surgeons just for fun.
Yes, we have all been through it, so we do know what it feels like. But It's truly amazing to me how quickly some people are willing to start doing the wrong thing. Long term success depends on changing your eating habits....forever. Giving in to an urge after less than a week is not a good start.

luveey reacted to Lulu_lulu in Why is the pre-op diet necessary and so hard?
It's day 4 today and I AM DYING! I NEED chocolate so bad I'm actually crying! But I tried hard the past 3 days and I don't want to ruin it.
The thing is, I'm used to eating lots of chocolate to do my assignments and now I can't do this one. Deadline is less than a week and I didn't even start and its sooo hard to start. All I think about is that I need chocolate to concentrate and do all!
This is hell I swear. It's very painful and a lot. I'm convinced of the importance of a pre-op diet but I feel any minute now I will break down and go buy lots of chocolate and junk.

I was in the hospital for five days and didn't return to work for five weeks. But then again I had complications after surgery.

I was also sleeved on the 10th. I did the 2 week pre op diet of 2 shakes and 1 lean meal a day and I'm thankful my surgeon does that because I haven't had any hunger at all. Just head hunger. I dream about food. But my stomach doesn't growl at all. I'm still sore and the gas sucks but this was absolutely the best decision for me.

Did you all cut your intake of food a few weeks before your proceedure or eat the same until the last week? I cut 3 months before my surgery and did a green juice day before my flush day. I was empty and have had no hunger since. A lot has to do with mental preparation. My brain was screaming for mexican food 2 days before surgery. I'm glad i told it to shut it lol. This is our second chance. A new way of life, the pain will go
