  1. Hi Geri. Welcome to the boards and congrats on the 10 lb loss! Sounds like you're doing great!!
  2. Ah, I'm busted. I like all the regulars on this thread (even those that differ on political views). I'll never admit it again, though, ya buttholes.....
  3. First step is admitting you have a problem. IDK, though......It seems like WL people sometimes have that "eat their young" phenomenon where once they get where they want to be, they make it difficult (or at least are nonsupportive) to the newbies. Not so much on LapBandTalk (although there are a few that come to mind), but say....Star Jones, Kirstie Alley....I know quite a few where I work, some in my personal life, etc.
  4. Yeah, no political talk on THIS thread, please. This one is my fave, and I'd hate to leave it.
  5. Ok, I went in for a fill today and had a long conversation with my doc. He basically said that he's changed his mind on supplemental protein (Before, he kinda waffled.....he was more "Unless you're in a competitive power lifting workout, you can probably get what you need through careful menu planning". Now he's estimating that I need between 80 - 100 grams protein / day (we did the electrical bodyfat thingy again), which is about a 30 - 40 gram / day increase. There's no way that I can get that much protein without supplementation, and he acknowledged that. So I thought about Ceradad's protein struggle / journey.....Maybe Ceradad has a future as a consultant, LOL.
  6. Isn't that called "having the XX chromosome" ?!?
  7. Hi, my name is Trey and I'm an avid, almost compulsive reader. What am I reading? Whatever ya got.....
  8. Hmmmmm, that sounds like my kinda snack. Is it pronounced like it's spelled ( Dull - sssssss)? Hey, that wasn't a political salvo. I was speculating why our congress might feel the need to limit toilet paper usage. The real point (and I guess it is political after all) was that all freaking aspects of our lives are being legislated.....
  9. Just biding my time until the legislature passes laws limiting how much toilet paper an individual can use per year.....gotta save trees to combat global warming, ya know.
  10. Are you a litigation attorney? LOL.......
  11. Hey Shamrock! No insights into Cigna, but for what it's worth.....for my 6 month supervised diet my insurance accepted WW online. All of the benefits, none of the hassle. I don't know if that would work for you, but it may be worth inquiring about.
  12. Hey there twinkletoes. The purpose of the preop diet is not so much to "cleanse" the liver as to shrink it to make surgery easier and safer. Here are 3 good research articles posted by my doc on this site yesterday: SpringerLink - Journal Article The effect of a low-carbohydrate diet on the nonal...[surg Endosc. 2007] - PubMed Result Change in liver size and fat content after treatme...[Obes Surg. 2006] - PubMed Result Thanks, Dr. Hekier! As for Protein shakes, tastes vary wildly. As long as they're low fat / low cal and high protein, it'll probably be fine. You may want to ask your doc / nutritionist if they have a preference.
  13. PJTP: The sportsman in me rejoices while the libertarian weeps: Congressman proposing bill to kill BCS system - College football- nbcsports.msnbc.com
  14. Hey Peaches. It sounds like a "head issue" you're dealing with...not a "band issue". Personally, I think it's easiest to break that sugar craving by going cold turkey. After I don't eat sugar for awhile, it doesn't even sound good to me. Probably not what you want to hear, but your band is not real good at controlling stuff like this. This is where the "it's just a tool" part comes in. You have to make the hard choices about what you eat. Maybe it would be best to not even bring goodies (er....actually I guess they would be "baddies", LOL) like that into the house where you'll be tempted?
  15. well keep rocking on....you're doing great!
  16. Hey pretty eyes, welcome to the boards. Hang in there, it gets easier as you go. Good luck!
  17. Hey Jenna, welcome aboard. If I were you, I'd just kinda snoop around. There are forums organized by subjects, with individual threads in each forum. A good place to start might be the FAQ's.......
  18. Woah, Danielle, that's awesome!! Are you at goal now?
  19. plain replied to *susan*'s topic in The Lounge
Shhhhh......quiet about the ong-thay (pig-Latin to keep the uneducated guessing).
  20. That sounds like a great time!!
  21. Bill Engvall is pretty funny too. "Larry the Cable Guy", though.....I just don't see it. Maybe because my whole region is populated with real life Larrys. Anchorman is rife with that weird non sequitur humor that appeals to me. Because you're not wearing any pants. PS- You need to watch a copy of Anchorman with your sweetie. It's a.....love story.....of sorts. Well, it is kind of an intellectual movie, tap. Watch it again with a critical eye appraising the Nietzsche-esque themes for added appreciation. Plus, Brick kills a man with a trident. Tap, let's not discuss my sexual preferences here in the open. PM me later on, with a detailed description of what you're wearing....
  22. Man, you were lucky, Fanny. That could have ended very badly indeed. Hey, you're right on track, Ebony. Very big in Africa, right? Or am I confused? And.......you wrote a paper on the edibility of monkeys?!? Awesome.
  23. That's the best, isn't it? When you first get that sense of "I'm full on 1/3 of what I used to eat".....
  24. Tap, plz clarify....do you mean to say charred monkeys served in a fur coat will be on the menu along with the liquor? 'Cause I wanna be at that party.
  25. :tt1:W haaaaaaaaaa?!?
