  1. Um....Hello? I hope this slight was not rooted in sexism??
  2. You're totally free inside your own head, angel. What you do in the real world, though, is a different story.
  3. Bob, I think Israel is going to have to bomb the suspected reactor sites. IDK about the 1-2 weeks, though. Maybe the Mayans were right about that 2012 thing after all, eh?
  4. Hiya Kat!! Sounds like you had a great time!! As for my life.....well.....I'm hanging in there.
  5. plain replied to darkangel's topic in The Gals' Room
I think your newfound confidence is great! And kudos for re-visiting the skinnydipping (personally, I LOVE to swin nekkid). It sounds like you're close to a major personal goal. Keep Pushing!!
  6. LOL....y'all are cracking me up! HummingBird, I would love to hear how you casually worked that particular question into the conversation!!
  7. *snicker* Well played.
  8. Ooops. I was wondering where I left that thing. You call it a cape.....I call it a "DNA catcher".
  9. This is a great question. IMO, a lot of us bandsters have to re-learn what getting full feels like. I prefer not to even use the word "full", because it implies that old feeling of having eaten too much. Heck, by its very definition, full means filled to capacity. Once we get banded, we should abandon the word "full" and instead use "not hungry", because that's the way we should be eating. As bandsters, we're supposed to eat until we're not hungry, not until we're stuffed to capacity. The goal is to see how little you can eat and not be hungry for about 4-5 hours.
  10. I'm ok! My schedule remains very erratic (2 nights / week in the sleep lab, 2 days / week doing echocardiograms). Weight wise, I'm less than 8 lbs from my initial goal....so there's some good news. Hi Tracy. I think I can remember that particular name, LOL. I don't know if I'm a friend of Kat's. It's probably more appropriate to say I'm a creepy stalker of Kat's. Ok, confession time here, Kat. My wife left me (out of the blue, I might add....no problems, fights....everything seemed to be great) in January. It was emotionally devestating, and I still haven't really recovered, but I'm doing better now. Heartfire! How's it going? See my above post, but at least I have my kids and good ol' Tug!! LOL. I'm going to peek at your pics! Hey thanks, Suziecat! Bonus message for the "old school" crowd - Clearly, I'm still the king of multiquote!!
  11. Hi all. This is a drive-by posting! Hope everybody is doing well!
  12. Just checking in. While the heartbreak diet is painful and not recommended....it certainly is effective. I'm damn near my (initial) goal. For the first time ever, I'm strongly considering re-evaluating my goal. Thanks for listening, old-timers :Banane20:
  13. By "play nice", I mean no personal attacks. Regarding disagreements, it's every man for himself!
  14. My point is that you can't always condemn the people in an organization because the person in charge is a douche. While I don't agree that the dude you mentioned founded the teaparty movement (although maybe he founded some website), but even if he did, the reasons I identify with that movement have nothing to do with President Obama being black. Actually, nobody made it up, since it created a deficit, correct? Aaaaaaaaand, those tax cuts stimulated the economy that Carter led into sluggishness. And I haven't even gone into the technological and medical innovations that were the result of big corporations spending more on R&D. Who would loose that bet?
  15. Right. Gotcha. But my point was that this is simply a poll. No need to expand it to something more on this thread (now, if you want to spark a discussion on this subject....heck, even about the unfairness or insensitivity of this poll.... start a new topic on rants & raves). My analogy would be something like this: Poll - I sometimes have trouble eating fruit. Does your band tolerate grapes? Reply#1 - Yes, I can eat grapes. Reply#2 - No, they make me PB Reply #3 - You should not be eating grapes. The growers exploit the laborers with substandard wages!!
  16. But...what about the back alley deals the Obama administration cut with big pharma to support the healthcare bill? Or the deal cut with lobbies, like the AMA? Same ol same ol. You like to use the word "douche" don't you? The difference is that the deficit spending under Reagan went to strengthening the military. Obama's deficit spending is going towards increasing the government stranglehold. I will split the point on Bush. He spent on the military, but at the end of his term, set TARP in motion. There will always be nutbags at every rally. What about all those "Bush = Hitler" and "Kill Bush" signs? I'm not simple-minded enough to believe that every liberal that disagreed with Bush thought he was the reincarnation of Hitler, or wanted to kill him. Like President Obama joining Reverand Wright's church?
  17. See what happens when everybody plays nice?
  18. That's fallacious. I'm conservative, and I'm pro choice. Not because I support abortion, but because I do NOT want any more government in our lives......and this particular issue just happens to have been settled by Roe V. Wade. If the decision had been made to outlaw abortion back then, then today I would be pro life. I think it's funny that most liberals have no problem with the government running their lives, until it comes to reproductive rights. I think we are grossly over-legislated as it is. Wrong. It's about middle America getting fed up with an uber powerful government frowing even bigger and fatter. Tea party members would (and have) condemned republicans that feed the government our liberty. George Bush was one of these men. So would have been John McCain. You are buying into the "teabag" hype that liberal outlets blast 24 / 7. They (and you) are trying to marginalize teapartiers because they're scared even more people will wake up and see the government as the bloated, inefficient beast that it really is.
  19. But the official pro-feminism line is pro choice, so it's not really ALL PEOPLE. I'm not trying to start up a thread that belongs on Rants & Raves RE: feminism, but merely trying to illustrate that issues are complex. I think we all can see the intent of the poll (heck, btrieger stated the purpose in post #1), so maybe we should all take it @ face value, and not hijack a thread to advocate or "educate" on a topic related to the original by a tangent at best. Yes. Good point. If somebody is getting under one's skin that much, a good solution is to block their posts. That's a lot of good theory, but in the end, most (granted....not all, but most) of people with the above listed conditions will identify with one gender more than another, regardless of chromosomal make-up or anatomy. They'd have to choose in certain situations (places with male / female designated bathrooms only, job applications, census, etc). Again, that's not saying they choose a personal designation for their LIFE, but sometimes they do have to pick. In that context, I think this poll is ok, whether or not the "other" option was genuine concern or snark.
  20. Same to ya! I hope you have a great 2010. May you, in the upcoming year, post what you mean and mean what you post.
  21. Hi cristinaann. This is a question best answered by your personal doc, since they all have slightly different standards. My doc said I could drive as soon as I felt like it (about 3 days.....I had my surgery done on a Friday of a long weekend).
  22. That's pretty funny. When you called me an "ass", I tried to get in on the joke with some self - deprecating humor by asking for your sources. Instead of laughing it off, you then called me an "assmunch". And when I called you on that, it turns out that you didn't really mean it......it was just all jokes. Ok, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here. Maybe I read it wrong.
  23. Hey, I give as good as I get. No, you don't have to back up anything you say. However, when you post distortions of the truth, I'll call you on it. If you think my behavior is untoward, then you should report me and let a third party arbitrate, not call me an "assmunch". Again, if you can find a single instance where you think I've been unfair, post it for all the world to see. If you can't do that, then you're just spreading bitter untruths. Yes, within reason you can say what you want. I would think you'd want to stick to the truth, but ultimately that is purely your decision. Or you could ignore the content of this post and call me an assmunch again. That'd be the intellectual thing to do.
  24. Hey Amber, welcome! It's always great to have experienced bandsters on board. First off, you've done great! Second, good on you for being determined to buckle down and lose that extra little bit that has crept back up on ya. Good luck!
