I tend to agree with you. I'm just not sure how to find a therapist or even a support group in my area.

Find a therapist. You are self soothing with food. You will never stop until you get to the root causes of why.
Food isn't the issue here emotions are.

Which surgery did you have? I choose the sleeve specifically because I would still be able to take Ibuprofen post surgery. I have used it a handful of times since surgery with no issues.

YUP. in the same boat, vsg 12/2015. don't feel I've lost NEARLY enough as I should have. I can relate to the working out, or lack of. I go see my Dr on the 18th.. I've only seen him 2x since surgery. AND I still am convinced something's up bc I can eat MORE THAN 3 BITES!!! hang in there.. sometimes I wonder if it was all a waste?? (I've started that thread before)..

My Dr said because it is an appetite stimulant.

I told him it had the exact opposite effect on me. I have had caffeine since week one. No issues at all. And I have had coffee the whole time. I drink probably 6-10 cups of coffee a day.

You can't dehydrate yourself with coffee. Science has debunked that so many times.

    http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2014/01/13/262175623/coffee-myth-busting-cup-of-joe-may-help-hydration-and-memory

There is a NY times article that I don't have the time to find but there are like 10 scientific notations in it.

Anyway fluids are fluids, You would have to drink gallons of coffee to get enough caffeine to dehydrate you.

I can't use trackers anyway. I eat mainly West-African food with unverified calorie estimations. I have to do it the old fashioned way: portion control

so i guess i need to be tracking calories too.. cannot believe i'm actually saying that out loud.. i followed a NO carb diet yrs ago & was never focused on how many calories i consumed per day.. i will have to be more accountable by weighing & measuring bc it could be that i have been taking in TOO many calories?!?! i once read on one of these sites, you don't have to count/measure bc as long as you're following the rules & have Protein, . veggies, the "tool" will stop you from taking in too muich

I hear you!! i'm 14mos out, and have only lost abt 50ish... I don't pay attention to calories (I was told early on that as long as we're eating the right things, i.e. Protein & veggies, the "tool" will stop you.. idk I've always felt like I've been able to eat too much @ a sitting, but then again I have yet to use my food scale to weigh/measure anything..

Good Morning all. I am almost 5 months post op (20 weeks). I have lost 69 pounds. But two weeks ago the weight just haulted. HAULTED.
I have had stalls before (seemingly about every 3 weeks) but this one is sticking solidly. I have changed two things: 1) my husband and I joined the local gym three weeks ago. I am doing cardio and light weights (3X a week) with many reps (trying to get this body a little toned, and help with skin sags) and 2) I have noticed that my hunger has returned. I am consuming at least 1000 calories a day. Sticking to high Protein choices (yogurt, string cheese, HB egg, Protein Bar, etc) but the calories add up fast!
So I am wondering.. do you all count calories? or just let your body direct you? I was astonished, when I started using My Fitness Pal, how many calories I was actually consuming. I would have guessed 400-500 per day, but I am eating twice that! I am getting concerned that my sleeve is done helping me, and I am on my own now. And I am finding myself more hungry than I have been in the last five months.
Anyone have some words of advice? encouragment? I know that working out will increase hunger, but I kind of thought the surgery would curb that, at least for a little while longer.

At christmas i purchased some new pryex on sale. At first when i got them, i thought what the heck am i going to do with these tiny 1 cup bowls. Well, turns out they will be perfect for my Portion Control when i can't weigh. Perhaps get yourself some small containers, measure out your meals a bit to see what ones they fit in and at least you will always have a guide by using the same containers for your meals.

What are ridiculous requirement. Insurance companies have a lot of nerve. There are many states in which it is perfectly legal to smoke marijuana, and quite frankly in my humble opinion outlawing the existence of an herb is by itself insanity. Using this to prevent people with real health issues from addressing them borders on criminal by itself. Sorry you're going through this. Move to California! LOL

Me and you are exactly the same weight for starting. My goal weight is 185 lbs. I haven't weighed 185 lbs. for about 13 years. I felt good at that weight, more confident. Enjoy the new you, and keep up the good work. The weight loss will come...
