BelgianGuy got a reaction from CrissyCakes in Sleeve or band
My mother had the band, and it was a disaster: lots of problems: acid actually damaged the band, she would throw up quite often, etc. She went from the band to the sleeve and now she is happy with it.
My surgeon also said the band surgery would soon be outfashioned since it's not really effective and rarely works properly. The sleeve seems to be the best option.
Good luck with everything!

BelgianGuy got a reaction from 165B445 in Cpap questions
I had this as well, they only gave me a nose mask and I sleep with my mouth open (how charming ), it all went better when I had an hybrid mask.
If your mouth is still really dry in the morning after the use of the hybrid mask, then you should ask a humidifier.
Can't wait to get rid of my cpap though...

BelgianGuy got a reaction from PaulaB72 in Regrets?
I had regrets the very first week when it was painful to move and everything tasted disgusting but I still had to eat.
But after that, every regret went away: no more eating 4 plates to be full, no 24/7 hunger anymore, and also the amazing results I was getting!
It's a bad moment to go through but most of the people on the forum look rather pleased by their surgery when they look back.

BelgianGuy got a reaction from 02CDMB in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
The insecurity I was feeling, the fact I was hating myself mentally and physically, that every pleasure in life was turning into paranoid trips (going to the restaurant, sitting in the train, swimming, travelling, etc).
And also the fact that I am young (23yo) and that I discovered I had sleep apneas. Wow if my health was that terrible at 23yo, how the hell would I manage till my 40's! I wanted to end all these problems for good.

BelgianGuy got a reaction from tiffanymarie6997 in Im scared my op is after tomorrow
I was also stressed as hell, I barely slept 4 hours the night before the surgery! I even shed a manly tear during the car ride to the hospital. But don't worry, the surgery is actually very fast (it lasted 45 minutes for me), and except for the two first annoying and tiredsome weeks, I recovered really quickly and now I am really happy about my weightloss and I see many positive changes in my life!
It's going to change many aspect of your life, and going out of what you have known for years is scary, but you will be fine! Cheers

BelgianGuy got a reaction from Christinamo7 in Coffee?
I never ever received any restriction toward coffee or thee (caffeinated), I have started drinking thee 4 days post-op and I have started drinking coffee one month after (just because it took me long at first and cold coffee tastes like sh*t).
I don't know about sugar though since I like my coffee black... Maybe stevia?
I just think that if you drink caffeinated coffee or thee be sure to drink enough Water

BelgianGuy got a reaction from Deleted Profile in Working out/exercise......
After two weeks, I would be dead tired after 2 or 3 miles, but I used to walk and bike a lot before the surgery. Don't go too hard on yourself, it's already good that you walk everyday!

BelgianGuy got a reaction from MzLaLa2016 in No Pre Op Diet
I haven't had a pre-op diet and it went just fine! I already lost 35 pounds and I had my surgery on the 25th of February!
I just had lighter meals to get used to it!

BelgianGuy got a reaction from coleycole127 in Did everyone have a Pre-op diet?
I am Belgian and had my operation in my home country, I asked the surgeon if I had to do a pre-op diet and he told me it has no use to do so except maybe already getting used to eat smaller quantities. The operation went well and everything is fine now!
