I guess what I'm trying to understand is why there's so much anger and vitriol instead of compassion and more understanding. None of us get to a place where we need surgery because we've made good choices or had 100% transparency or honesty with ourselves or with others. Sometimes there are issues that run a lot deeper with some folks than others. You just never know a person's background or story.
I also know from my own past (I'm almost nine years out) and many of my friends in the WLS community we all had experiences where when we first had surgery and were doing remarkably well, we felt invincible and full of conviction and top of the world with our choices and actions. It's easy to get to a place of high-ground when you feel that way, which is why I think it's important to remember that it doesn't always stay that way. There are always going to be times when you question others actions, and that's normal and fine. But remember, there are probably others doing the same to you. Extend the same kindness you'd want for yourself.

Being judgemental with each other NEVER helps. Support is not judgemental. Support is support. You're there through the good times and the bad listening, lending an ear, giving the best advice you can through a supportive and encouraging lens that won't further damage someone(s) already struggling.

You may be drinking too much or taking too big of a dip. For me that's the feeling I get when I am full. I am 4 weeks post op

My back and stomach area will hurt whenever I drink anything too fast and get too much air in. Also as so,won't else said, it's an indication that I have had too much to drink regardless if it's just Water. Try slowing down how quickly you drink your liquids and take sips ra here than gulps. Makes. A big difference.
    Good luck!

Wondering if this is normal. I had sleeve surgery July 11th 2016. And when I drink my back hurts really bad then fades when I stop sipping.

Hi George, I had vsg surgery on July 11, 2016 and I stayed 2 days in the hospital went home in a lot of pain. The pain got worse no better and I finally had to be rushed to the hospital on Sunday morning. I am still in the hospital on major pain meds waiting for someone to figure out what they are going to do I have a bile leak somewhere. I can drink Water fine but since Sunday all I get is ice chips I am really not hungry but I do believe I have to be starving. Since surgery I have eaten maybe 6 taplespoons of broth or Protein shake. I am just waiting Sent from my SPH-L720 using the BariatricPal App

I am soo excited. I am doing it. I am a mother of 5 ( ages 11,9,5 and twin 10-month-olds) amazing boys who deserve a mother who will be able to keep up with them when they are older :-). I lost 48lbs since march 21, 2016 but now it is sooo hard to keep on this liquid diet. I am not going to beat myself up over this but I would like some nonjudgmental advice from experienced sleevers. I know I have shrunk my liver and all my bloodwork is good. I will continue to try to stick to it.

Surgery doesn't wear off. People that have RNY/Bypass, their malabsorption does not last forever. If they don't learn to eat properly, when their body finally adjusts to it, they will stop losing and start regaining if they don't have a healthy lifestyle.
A properly formed sleeve does not stretch, you keep your restriction. What wears off mostly is people motivation and desire to lose weight and keep it off. People lose weight and small things creep into their diet and then become big things. Overall, it is natural to gain weight as you age. If you make real lifestyle changes, it is easier to keep weight off, too many people treat surgery just like a diet.
And at 11.5 months, I basically have no physical hunger unless I forget to eat for 12 hours or more. My head hunger is more like a soft faint whisper in the wind, instead of a loud shouting Drill Sergeant.

I suppose there is a small hunger reduction, but after 9 months, it's mainly the restriction.
I avoid hunger the same way I did pre-surgery, avoid sugar and white carbs as long as possible each day. Protein and fat keep my appetite at bay.

I have the double whammy. My husband had RNY 10 years ago and I had the sleeve almost 2 years ago.
We just celebrated our 27th anniversary last month

Since WLS surgery? Nothing. Not even the (relatively mild) gall bladder attack or GB surgery / recovery 4 weeks post-WLS.
But pre-op -- it was WAITING FOR THE DAMN SURGERY TO FINALLY FREAKIN' HAPPEN!
My surgeon was so backed up with huge demand. So jumping through all the pre-op hoops took a long time. It made me so crazy that I finally put myself on a diet and lost 11 pounds prior to the liver-shrinking diet.
Pre-op, I also practiced all the post-op eating behaviors -- eating slower, chewing lots more, not drinking with meals, drinking 64 ounces of Water daily, walking more (bought a Fitbit and got up and moved), took Vitamins, started tracking all my food on My Fitness Pal, etc.
I was like a kid who wore a Batman cape everywhere because he thinks he's Batman.
So when I hear about pre-op patients who are having a month of last suppers and whining about the liver-shrinking diet and worrying about losing their hair somewhere down the road and drama-llamaing about potential loose skin and not being able to close down the bars every weekend and other s**t like that, I just shake my head.
Don't they know how wonderful this surgery is going to be for them and that it will be worth any inconveniences and lifestyle changes required of them?
    Again -- shaking my head.
(I may have had too much coffee this morning.)

I'm one month post op and I have none! My experience with the pre op diet wasn't bad. It was for one week with 2 shakes and a healthy meal. My night in the hospital wasn't too bad either. Pain was managed with drugs! I had no gas pains in my shoulder fortunately. Just some discomfort which a heating pad helped. Overall my experience has been great! I feel great! I'm losing weight and I'm off my meds! Best decision ever! #noregrets

I would think you should be good to go then. At five weeks I was on regular food, so you should probably be on regular food and your energy levels should be good.
