  1. It's important not to eat during the time your doctor wants you on liquids because your stomach is healing and scar tissue is forming around the band. It's that scar tissue that holds in place and helps prevent slippage. Obviously, you can't do anything about it now, but please don't do it again just because nothing horrible happened right away. You don't want to have slippage 2-3 years from now... Oh and you guys are in "Bandster Hell" which is when you aren't supposed to be eating but you haven't got restriction yet. It's tough, but post in the Post-Op Support section and I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas for how to get through it.
  2. Welcome to LapBandTalk! You don't put them on anything when you are on the soft food diet.
  3. No, you can drink if you want. But it's a choice that you may not want to make, particularly when you are losing. You may not want to spend the calories on it, for example. Really you can eat or drink anything you can tolerate with the band. There is nothing about it that makes a particular food dangerous. OTOH, not everyone can tolerate everything. You'll just have to see when you get one what you can tolerate.
  4. If your BMI is 40 or more, then you are a candidate under most insurance plans. No co-morbidities are required.
  5. I think they'll all gain it back eventually. The only way to lose weight and keep it off without WLS is to lose very, very gradually so that your body's set point has time to adjust and catch up. That's the opposite of what they do on BL.
  6. It seems somehow when I wasn't looking I became a size six. Since I had my first kid, I find myself tearing over the weirdest stuff... I'll be thinking in my head "that's so corny" but I'll get a catch in my voice and my eyes will get moist. It's very weird. It also happens over anything I'm the least bit emotional about. So I'm explaining to Mini-Mac who Rosa Parks is and I can't continue because I'm all choked up.
  7. Oh, mine got smooth a while ago.
  8. I see a bunny hoping. So did you figure it out?
  9. The surgery can mess with your hormones. Some people get a period right after, some stop having them for a while, etc. My first one after surgery was 1 week late.
  10. Call your doctor and see what they will do. Some will do surgery even if you are sick as long as you don't have a fever and feel okay. Others will cancel. If you feel a cold coming on, Zicam often will kill it. But if you aren't supposed to have Vitamins, you should check if it's okay to take it. I was allowed to have vitamins, btw.
  11. Aetna only counts high blood pressure if it's not controlled by medicine. I don't know about cholesterol but I vaguely remember it's the same. Their bariatric policy is here: Obesity Surgery It's got all the details.
  12. It's so common that Bariatric TV did a podcast about it! :tongue_smilie:
  13. I have pictures on my blog. At 6 months, my scars are hardly noticeable, about half or 1/3 the size they used to be. I think they'll be totally gone by 1 year. I found they got darker before they got lighter though. So don't freak out if that happens to you.
  14. That's great! My scale has consistently been high in the body fat % area. It's great on weight, but not on body fat. Well, it is over 20 years old. So it says around 30-33% but my doctor's scale says 27.5 and my calipers say 25%. I'm not sure who to believe!
  15. Welcome to LapBandTalk! I suspect you'll start feeling full once you have a few fills.
  16. Congrats on getting a date, even a tentative one!
  17. Welcome to LapBandTalk! The pre-op diet is a total pain, but maybe you won't have to do one. I didn't.
  18. I think you are lying. Because I found this pic and I'm sure that's you: MyHero on Flickr - Photo Sharing! I was laughing hysterically.
  19. The other thing about that clinic is that they do too many surgeries in one day to save money. That's how Almanza got to do 200 sleeves in such a short time. By doing 10 surgeries in a day, which is not safe. If you end up with a complications due to his being fatigued when he does your surgery, then it's going to cost you more money than if you paid a few thousand extra to go to an excellent surgeon with a great reputation. There are quite a number of surgeon in MX with great facilities and reps who are in the 9000-10000 range. When it comes to our bodies and our lives, it's not worth it to price shop IMO.

  24. Welcome to LapBandTalk! You may get some good tips for getting back on track in the LapBand Strugglers subforum. It's under the Complications forum.
