Nope I've never had a Facebook. I'm 22 and was trying to avoid all the bs that came with it. When it for popular lol.
But I do have an ig. Contemplating making another one just for my journey though. I don't want too many people to know.

Ive told a handful thats it and most support a few " why not weight watchers or a strict diet?" Or the " ohh really?" And theres so much like sass attitude disgust behind the statement so I've chosen to just be quiet about it.

I have 5 weeks left of my 9 month diet! Its forevrr and half long and frustrating makes ya contemplate all of this, which is what they want! My pcp calls it hazing and i thought he was crazy until lately. I was email a document for my primary to fill out for 6 months of my current/previous weight. Exercise diet etc. Then i am finishing up my last 2 appts with my nut. Your primary also needs to write a letter of recommendation stating why this is beneficial for you. Your co morbidities and how there being treated and 1 forget the last 1. But be on your A game! Make sure yoy have everything. With me i am pre diabetic, and i have insulin resistance with history of obsesity in my family. In pretty much the healthiest fat person ever. In case my co morbidities arent accepted im keeping at my bmi of 50 which has been so tough! In the beginning i dropped to 1200 calories and practically fried myself. Then finding out that only my high bmi can be accepted made me raise the calorie intake and stay at a stable weifht of 258 to 262. Its harder then dropping 20lbs! Good luck ladies! You can pme if you need any other help or advice I've called and research the hell out of caresource!

I was in 2 nights. You can't drink 1st night, on swab to keep mouth wet. Then they have you walk as much as possible and start sipping 1oz or 2 at a time next day. Dr comes to check on you and got released 2 days after surgery. They basically just want to make sure you are tolerating liquids and that your bladder is emptied from catheter. I had Dr. Brethauer he was great. If you want some local support, be happy to be buddies.

I had no problem with taste changing especially with Proteins drinks, but I used many for years before WLS.
My son had Sleeve WLS and was not a big fan of Protein powder shakes, and he had even more difficulties after surgery. He gaged them done because he had to.
Everyone is different, so stocking up unless you really already like them, could be costly.
    Best to you

I am not scheduled for surgery yet but I started this journey back on May 12th, and I am at the point where we are meeting and starting to discuss the possibility of dates in September and I am getting nervous, and excited along with having a few concerns about money with cost of surgery. Anyone else ever feel this way?

Hi, I'm doing my two week pre-op diet. The first 3 days I lost 5#, starting day 9 and the scale hasn't moved. Feeling frustrated. Oh 1000 calories a day, and getting 64 ounces Water everyday!

crazynae1025 reacted to cookarue in Bypass vs. Sleeve
The bypass is the golden standard for weight loss procedures. There are many people who get revised from sleeve to bypass. I take medications, and never needed a higher dose of anything.
As far as I can tell the lack of absorption means that, no you won't absorb everything you put into your mouth, so you won't get those calories either. Which is a good thing if you're trying to lose weight and maintain for the rest of your life.
Both surgeries you have to take Vitamins daily.
I, too, was concerned about hunger. Before surgery I was worried that I'd be hungry still, well no - not for weeks and months. I am 2 months out and my hunger is returning, BUT a tiny meal and I'm stuffed for hours. Lol. I am able to feel very satisfied all day long on about 400-500 calories a day. However, Head hunger (cravings) won't be going away with either surgery.
Also, the complication rate is less than 1% with the bypass. Higher than the sleeve? Sure, but still it's very unlikely.
I've gone from 237 hw to now 189 in 2 months.
Good luck to you on whichever surgery you decide.
