  1. Part of the reason the band works it that you are scared to death of eating the wrong thing and vomiting and messing the band up. It becomes second nature to not eat junk food. The band helps you do it since the consequences are not good. I eat healthy carbs. Whole wheat/flax seed pita bread. Whole wheat Pasta and brown rice. In very small amounts. I find they help the craving. As for sweets, I am a chocoholic. So every night I have a small container of sugar free/fat free chocolate pudding. I look forward to it.
  2. I just did my hair, added some blond highlights. A trip to a day spa for the "works" will be my splurge. I also want a new wardrobe. Maybe a trip I always wanted to go on a cruise but due to my weight didn't go. Maybe next summer I might.
  3. Here is my before and "after" photo with the simulator it's pretty good wish it would come off this fast LOL
  4. Don't be scared everyone has different stories and we sometimes get down about it. So far it's the best thing I have ever done. Losing at a nice steady pace and feeling great.
  5. Congratulations, I think any weight loss now is wonderful. I hate to stall It's a pain. but what I do is NOT get on the scale for a week, then I go on it and usually lose a pound or two.
  6. Gee I also am a sugar junkie and Type II diabetic to boot. I used to hide my stash of Reeses Peanut Butter cups and Milky Ways and Snickers in my underwear drawer. How awful is that. Been 4 months since I had a candy bar. Halloween will be hard, I won't buy candy till that day, and then half as much as normal, when it runs out it runs out. And I will buy candy I don't particularly like also so I won't be tempted. I also had a thing for Hot fudge sauce. Hey smuckers has a sugar free kind now that ins't bad. I put it in my Protein shakes. I still have one a day for Breakfast. I hate to eat early in the morning still.
  7. I am losing about 2 lbs a week and post op two months. When I plateau and I have a few times, I eat a tad more, then cut back and the weight loss starts again. Never above 1500 calories and mostly 1200 a day.
  8. I take one Colace capsule a day plus a strong cup of coffee helps.
  9. For years I wouldn't wear an underwire bra, then they went a bit more "south". I went to a specialty shop and they did a real bra measurement. I was wearing the wrong size and the wrong type of bra. They fitted me for a Goddess (brand) underwire bra and It was like being liberated. I bought two of them and then with my right size bought a few more underwires at a department store. I am very happily wearing them, although they are a tad too big in the cup size now I will wear them till they don't fit at all. Then get more in smaller size and be measured again. I won't go back to non underwires execpt for sports bras.
  10. Ok are you getting 60 grams of Protein a day? I was told to eat animal protein, specifically lean chicken, fish or turkey and some beef if I could tolerate it. I do Have blood tests by the doctor to see if you are having deficiencies in your Vitamins and minerals and protein. So far banded in August no hair falling out and feel good.
  11. I agree, I saw the commercials on TV and started to read up on it and well one thing led to another. I know I can eat junk even with the band but I choose not to.....why waste all that time and effort and pain to just go back to the way I was. Oh an occasional treat is fine, but nothing crazy. I feel very calm and happy about this all. So maybe it was divine intervention. I sure hope so.
  12. Congratulations on your first Bandday. You have done great and keep it up. I hope to celebrate my first Bandday on August 7th 2009
  13. Gee so sorry you had to pay extra for the hernia surgery. They just did mine and I didn't see any additional charges on my bill. My insurance paid for it all anyway.
  14. Yes we are ready for a black president. But I wonder how many "closet" bigots are still out there. Far too many I fear.
  15. Just a pound and a half this week. Yesterday went into Boston to lunch with friends. Did very well with piece of chicken, some cheese and tomato and a little lettuce (it was a sandwich without the bread.) After lunch I walked about 2 miles around town and enjoyed the lovely fall day. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
  16. Hey they want me to not snack also, but I am Type II diabetic and I need that little calorie boost. I add them into my calorie count of approximately 1200 calories a day. Usually it's fat free/sugar free, yogurt and pudding. Just that little shot of chocolate sure helps. As long as I am losing at a nice and steady pace, I will do what I feel is comfortable for me. It keeps me from overeating at my meals also.
  17. I had my fill on the 19th, my restriction seems even less now. I will need another one in about 5 or 6 weeks, I am losing mostly by willpower right now and not wanting to mess up the band.
  18. Gee I was only on liquids for one day and mushies for 1 day then back to my regular diet. Eash doctor is different. I surprisingly feel less restriction with the fill. Guess I need another one. Have to wait 6 weeks for one darn it.
  19. About how much average is a TT? Just want to know in case my insurance turns me down.
  20. I don't have it either but it seemed the combination of the whey in the powder which is concentrated, and the skim milk really caused my distress. Soy was much easier on my stomach. Still is.
  21. I didn't have a problem with my underwires after a few days after surgery. My incision was not at that level. I think its' recommended for comfort not anything else. I need that underwire to keep the girls up and proud LOL
  22. The best of luck to you, you will be so happy I am sure. I am really really feeling great. Losing about 2 lbs a week and can eat most anything except fatty fried stuff. Small amounts and excercise and I keep my calorie limit to around 1200 a day. You won't be disappointed. Once you get through the first few days after sugery it will most probably be clear sailing. Congratulations on taking this big step.
  23. I was allergic to whey protein and I was so sick the first two weeks after surgery with diarrhea that I was miserable. I switched to soy based protein drink and it went away. Try changing it that might help.
  24. If you follow the suggested eating and drinking, you will start to lose after a week or so. I have been losing about 8 to 10 lbs. a month or 2-3 lbs. a week. Just keep it up on a one day at a time and soon you will notice that your losing, I saw some women last night at my Red Hat meeting I had not seen in maybe 5 months and they were amazed at how good I looked. I can see a difference but it was nice to have them ohhhh and ahhhh over my weight loss. I did cheat and had one oatmeal raisin cookie last night took 30 minutes to eat it. Figured the raisins and oatmeal were good for me. It was my reward for 8 weeks of dieting. I skipped the popcorn, soda and candy bars they had at the meeting, I felt really good.
  25. Hey to each his or her own. I just know what my doctors told me when I was in the meetings. No Gum!!!!! I'm glad you never swallowed gum before. I just don't want to chance it. Let's just say it's not recommended. And go with that. OK
