  1. I had to lose 12 lbs. before surgery to "defat" my liver. I did it with regular dieting. It was hard but worth it.
  2. Yes with co-morbidity your insurance should pay for it. First get everything checked out by your PCP. And get a sleep test to see if you have sleep apnea. It sounds like you may have it. Good luck.
  3. Gee I have the opposite problem, too much energy LOL. Are you all eating your protein? That may be the problem. I upped my protein and I feel a lot better. I have 70 grams a day, I cut back on my starches. Just protein and veggies now. A little bit of dairy, cheese and yogurt and fat free milk.
  4. I lost 2.4 lbs. Happy with that. Can't wait till I am in my 170's maybe next week LOL. I think the Water aerobics is helping. I must sign up for another course soon. Two more weeks to go with this one. Happy Friday I weighted myself this morning (Sat) and lost another pound so 179.4 is the new weight) Wow just over half way there I am thrilled.
  5. Hey I guess it could not hurt. I now wear a bra about 80% of the time, but my boobs are deflating and sagging. Not happy about that at all.
  6. Seems that I am on a little plateau right now on gain but no loss. I am being really really good too. I will just weight myself once a week now. My newer clothes are getting looser anyway which is good. My plus sized stuff is hanging off me. Tried on a few thing yesterday and now fit into "regular" sizes no plus for me any more which I am very happy about. But want to get to a Medium in most things and a size 12 would be lovley. Would like to lose 10 lbs. by Christmas/New Year. But I won't dwell on it with the holidays. I was happily surprised I lost 2.4 lbs. this week.
  7. Oh I had a few Reeses Peanut Butter cups at Halloween and some totsie Rolls LOL I figure sometimes it's OK as long as I am losing once in a blue moon it's OK to have a treat. I know on Thanksgiving I will have a tiny pices of apple pie, but no ice cream. I get pie thats sugar free with just the juice for sweeter.
  8. Yes the dreaded Holiday season...I am also going to be conservative and hope to be 173 by January 1st. 2009. Just 10 lbs and a few oz. I like having goals. It sure helps with losing.
  9. I would get a new scale. They have a neat one at Wal-Mart that tells digital weight and also BMI and can keep track it's on par with my hospital one. Same weight by about an oz. when I was weighed last week and at home.
  10. I would suggest keeping a food diary and an approx. calorie count. That may help. It's so very "easy" to eat around the band. You may be eating more than you think. I am keeping a log on what I eat and the calories. So If I overindulge and we all do at times, I make up for it the next day or go on a two day liquid diet...and that brings me back down. I have not had ice cream or even the no sugar kind in 4 months. I don't miss it in the winter in the summer another story. No gravies except Heinz makes a "no fat" gravy and in small amounts to moisten the chicken or beef. No booze or wine and no carbonated drinks and no ice cream drinks or smoothies they are loaded with calories. If I have that chocolate crazing...Hunts and Jello make a nice sugar free low fat pudding in cups with 60 calories per cup. I drink a lot of crystal light. Mixing up the flavors to make it new and interesting. Try lemonade with 1/2 container of raspberry ice flavor. It's really good with lots of ice. This is still a learning experience for all of us no matter when we were banded. I learn something every day. Make sure you exercise regularly and don't cut the calories too low or your body goes into starvation mode. 1200-1500 is about right for me any less and I stop losing. Your should see your doctor or a nutritionist to find out what your doing wrong if anything. My program is great we have support meetings once a month and a nutritionist and nurse practitioner on hand when you need them. I see my np every 5 weeks or so. That keeps me on track I don't want her disappointed in my weight loss. Keeps me honest...LOL Good luck hope this helps.
  11. Well now that the election is over and Obama is the President Elect...boy I love typing that. Time to retire this thread. We should all take a deep breath and remember our country will survive and will prosper again. Obama has a very very hard job to bring us back after 8 years of hell. I think we should all give him a chance and pray he does well. Our country is worth it. God Bless the USA
  12. Boy I relate to you...I have 3-4 lbs. to go before my "success" and I have been losing and gaining the same two pounds this past week. As long as the scale keeps going down I am happy. Three months out from banding also... take care pati:thumbup::cool::thumbup:
  13. Hey I can sympathize I was banded in August and felt like s### for about a week, then slowly better, by week 3 I felt really good. Now 3 months out and almost half way to my goal..and am ecstatic and so glad I did this. A few days of feeling bad are so worth it. Just take it one day at a time and do use the pain meds. And get as much rest as you can. The liquid for 3 weeks will go by. Most of us all had to do that. Do exactly what the doctors and nurses say. Don't be temped to eat during this time. It's your stomach and port healing time. Good luck and believe me it will get better sooner than you think. Hey the pain was worth it when I bought new jeans last week and they were 14 Petite, have not worn that size in 20 plus years.
  14. Since my second fill last week I am having problems with meat like steak and chicken without any sauce. So I got fat free gravy and add just a few spoonfuls and cut the meat up really really small and I can eat it. I don't have a problem with bread but I just don't eat it. Sometimes pita bread for a sandwich. I had two slime and frothing incidents since my second fill, scared the cr## out of me I must say. Being very very careful now. Next appt. and fill in December if I need it. I didn't lose this week, so I will be more careful what I eat this coming week.
  15. I am 5'4" and wear a size 14-16 bottom and a 16-18 top. I am top heavy now. Just got jeans that are 14 petite. I have to lose more up top. I carry my weight from bust to hips, legs and arms much thinner than my middle. Sort of a apple shape I guess. When I was at my lowest weight in my 20's I was 105-110 and wore size 3-7. Depending on what style and brand of clothing. Now that's probably a 0 LOL I want to be in 10's or 8's by the time I finish this. Size won't matter if I am in normal sizes..not xxxx ones. I will be happy.
  16. I am basically the same as last week. I ate a bit too much this week and didn't lose. I will do better next week for sure. At least I didn't gain this week. Also have a slight cold don't know if that matters at all. Edited on Sat. morning at 5:41 AM got up weighted myself...LOL 182.8 almost a lb. LOL
  17. I am cooking a big meal for my husband, daughter and fiance, the baby and my Mother's best friend who still comes to Thanksgiving dinner even though Mom has been gone for 3 years. I won't have all the pies I used to have, most of my family likes cakes not pies. But I will have an apple pie. Turkey, Mom's famous stuffing, butternut squash, mashed potatoes, gravy (I got a new gravy separator to take out the fat). Baked yams, fresh peas and boiled onions, cranberry sauce, and whole cranberry sauce. Rolls and "light" butter. Oh fruit cup with serbert for the first course. I will have my 3 oz. of turkey breast. And a spoonful of everything else. Just a spoonful. One small roll, no butter And a tiny tiny piece of apple pie no ice cream on it. I will be good. I finally have some good restriction so I know I can't eat a lot.
  18. Wow you look great. Hope your feeling better soon. I am debating getting a tummy tuck when I am down to goal weight. I shall see. Right now just trying to lose the next half of my weight and toning up. The celulite is kind of disgusting I look like a big old orange rind. LOL
  19. Geez I have no idea what size it is...I'll ask them. I know it was empty when they banded me and then had 1cc in Sept. and another one the 6th of November so I would guess 2 ccs now. Yes if's almost scary to eat isn't it...that's what makes it so easy not to overeat. I have problem with beef now, darn it. So chicken if steamed and soft is fine. I can eat Pasta and bread in small amounts so I don't eat much at all. Veggies no problem if I chew, chew, chew. Salads that have low or no cal dressing are fine in small amounts.
  20. I just got my 2nd fill and boy do I feel the restriction, had my first bought with "sliming" a lot the other day, never will eat too fast or too much again. It's disgusting and painful. I feel a slight full and tight feeling then now I know to STOP EATING IMMEDIATELY, before I get the pain and slime. This is the first real restriction I have felt sice the first few weeks after banding. I have another appointment December 11th....to check and see how it's going. Would love another fill before Christmas.
  21. I watched Dr. Oz on Oprah and well he said nothing can reduce the "celulite" it's something that happens when we get older. It's fat cells that blow up and cause the skin to pucker. They won't go away no matter what you do or try.
  22. Every doctor is different, I was told for the first week "clear" broths only, and Jello and Water. Campbell's "soup in hand" is good the tomato parm bisque is good. not really a lot of calories. And never every drink with a straw again.
  23. Ya I am losing in my legs, arms and torso...but my belly is shrinking not as fast as I would like now it's just a disgusting "thing" hanging down with fat and skin. Hoping it will tighten up a bit with exercise. Otherwise I will be wearing "Spanx" for life LOL My bottom half is two sizes smaller than my top half now. size 14 pants and 16-18 tops.
  24. Whenever I deal with something similar...I always document it with the name of the person I talk with the title and write down everything they say and tell them I am doing it. I hope you did that. I hope they have written documentation at the hospital on this. Good luck I would be so po'd I would be spitting bullets by now.
  25. Hey I had a fill on Thursday, my second one. I was back on solids yesterday, made a big roast beef dinner for the family...got my plate. 3-4oz Protein and a few spoonfuls of the sides...I barely got 3 oz of the beed in and slimed...and got stuck, the worst since being banded in August. Stopped eating walked around and it felt better. I slimmed for the very very first time and don't want that ever again ugg...later on had some Sip a Soup and went to bed. Today will eat mushies. And try solids tomorrow slowly.
