  1. That does seem low and may put your body in starvation mode. I find 1200 is better for me. If I get into a platueau will do this trick my body a bit. Eat maybe 1500 for a few days then back down to 100-1200 for a few days. It sometimes works. Right now in a real plateau and not going down much. I had a fill in December and need another one the end of Jan or early Feb. It takes time......and patience to get through all of this but it's worth it.
  2. Well I feel more like my "old" skinny self whom I have not seen in 25 years. I feel younger and more energetic. Happier and more confident. I don't really miss the fat me at all. I don't see the fat person in the mirror. Actually I never did even when fat, it was photos that I saw when I said "holy ####" I am fat. Now as I see my photos of the old and new me I feel wonderful. I take each day one at a time. Yes I fall off the wagon occasionally we all do but I don't beat myself up over it. I just start over again. I probably am different than a lot of people here because I used to be thin, for most of my youth and only got fat when I was in my 40's and 50's. Now that I am approaching 61 I decided to get going and do something about my health. I had sleep apnea, diabetes II luckily no high blood pressure. Pain from my joints and could hardly get up and down the stairs. Now I can run up and down the stairs. Feel better than I did 20 years ago. All in all this is the best decision I have ever made. You will change your outlook. Don't hesitate to get counseling it does help. I think the 2 years prior to this I was in counseling helped me decide to do this and do it so far successfully. I go to my monthly support meetings also. For me they are a must to keeping me on track. Good luck and best wishes for successful weight loss.
  3. I became intolerant of whey Protein The drink I was using, made me sick as can be, the runs and nausea all the time. I switched to soy Protein Drink and was fine. I am now 4 months out and no problem with any food except for not eating breads because they get stuck. It may be temporary with your healing process. Stay away from them and when your more healed gradually try them again in small amounts. Good luck. Pati It's so worth it in the long run
  4. Congratulations. I am going to take pilates and yoga at the new health club hubby and I joined. And they have Water excercise too. So that will ge great I loved it when I fit into my skinny jeans. they were size 18 now I'm into a 14 petite and they are getting big in the leg and fanny. Still fit in the waist, but that will go down some soon I hope. It's these milestones that keep us going with the weight loss and diet. Now when I get into a 10 or 8 jean I will really Celebrate LOL
  5. Lost nothing, gained nothing I did lose the pound I gained after Christmas but that doesn't count LOL Back on track this week for sure.
  6. Oh my your band isn't totally healed and you might have it slip with so much food. Stop..you should be on mushies only now and not "real" food. Call and get in to see your doctor to have things checked out and maybe a fill in a few weeks. Go back on your post op diet as soon as you can. The band is a tool use it. don't abuse it.
  7. Hey since I had a really nice holiday...I was happy not to gain any weight. Lost a pound. Down to 174, four pounds from goal. I will see what my weight is on Friday before I change my ticket.
  8. What an a##hole. Geez, I would find another fill doctor as soon as you can and write a complaint to the hospital/clinic about him. Jerk......he should apologize to you for this.
  9. Oh I ate a few things yesterday at a Red Hat Christmas party I went too. Decided to go on the 5 day all liquid "get back on track" diet. Cause New Years Eve we do Chinese food LOL. I dont' know if I will make my goal of 170 but if I come within a pound or two I will be happy. Getting another fill I hope in early Feb. Take care all
  10. I did eat more than usual but not much. I stayed the same and am happy with that. Just hope I make my goal next week. I was happy having my photo taken this year. And look pretty good. Hope everyone had a great holiday. I did get a nice cashmere sweater from hubby in a much smaller size than normal..it's a tad snug but I'll grown down to it. LOL
  11. Love the song and a very Merry Christmas to everyone. May you just have a taste of all the goodies. And be good little protein eaters LOL
  12. I have not been on any rides. But I would think by June it would be fine. As for straws, we were told in our "classes" never to use a straw again. Something about the "sucking" on one can cause band slippage and problems. Hope this helps
  13. My port is tender after a fill, usually goes away. But now I know it's there, not really pain just tender when I move around a lot. I can't sleep on that side either or it hurts. Not "hot" to the touch. But usually it hurts after exercising. My NP said it most likely is the muscles pulling on it and losing the fat around it. It can "tip" not dangerous but it's very common. It's a little harder to fill and unfill. It's better today I have cut down on my exercise this week due to a lot of other stuff. Did walking a lot and that helped. I will go back to my regular exercise after Christmas.
  14. Here in Boston, I am of mostly Irish background. Lots of Italian friends though and many of my cousins married Italian men. Seems to be a big thing here also in Boston area. Best of both cultures. I have been to the Christmas Eve dinners with all the fish and seafood. Yummy I used to have an open house here when Mom was alive and all the family would come and visit. Had it the year after Mom died and not many showed up..so I discontinued it. Now we go visit the family on the weekend before Christmas. My cousin has a "Yankee Swap" Everyone brings a present. for their gender or non-gender or child. It has to be less than $10 and can be practice or funny. After you open the gift you can swap it with the person who got their gift before you or not. At the end you can swap it with anyone if they want it or you want something else. We then eat, it's pot luck everyone brings a dish. I am making Greek Pasta salad, my cousins husband is Greek and they make Greek dishes. On Christmas day we open the gifts and have a nice Breakfast. Usually pancakes and sausages and bacon...and eggs. This year it's lighter fare. LOL We open the gifts and then we take a nap or watch Christmas movies on TV. The kids (my daughter and her fiance) will take the baby to his Mothers house for the afternoon. They come home in the evening and we have dinner. I do a Ham or Roast Beef. This year roast beef. and lots of veggies. Much healthier than ham. I do have a one cup of low fat Egg Nog on Christmas Eve. With a shot of brandy in it. Hope you all have a great Christmas and don't eat too much but do enjoy it. Pati
  15. After two weeks on a plateau. I have lost 2.2 lbs. this week. I had a fill last week. So I am happy. Hope to meet my goal of 170 on January 1st 2009. It's a slow and steady weight loss and I am happy. It's going to snow a foot here so I'm making a big beef stew in the crock pot. Lots of lean meat and veggies. I can enjoy a small bowl tonight.
  16. Wow you have done so well for a late August Bandster. We have a whole group check the August 2008 bandster threads. We have a Friday morning weigh in also. If you feel too much restriction they can remove a bit of the fill. So far my third one is much better. I have not hit my "sweet spot" yet but hope too soon. They check the band and fill every 4-6 weeks. You will like it here when I get down and am not losing, I come in and feel so much better I am not alone. Hope you continue to post. Good luck.
  17. Hey I was banded in August. So I am a four monther. Great you are right on track with your weight loss and I am close to that mark. Have you had any fills? I had my 3rd one last week and finally feel some real restriction. I have been watching my calories and trying to keep it 1200 -1500 a day. With daily walks and Water aerobics. How old are you? I am 60 and well I haven't been fat all my life I once was very thin...my lowest weight was 103 when I was 21. I evened out to 110 till my late 20's and gained 50 lobs when I was pregnant with my one and only daughter. I stayed in the 140 range for years. Then my thyroid literally "died" and it wasn't diagnosed for at least 5 or 6 years. I gained then and was in the 180 range. I ballooned up to 245 in 2005, lost 50 with Nutri-System, gained back till I was 229 and stayed that way till the Lap Band in August. I am feeling great haven't been this weight in years and this was the best thing I ever did. Good luck, glad you found us. Where did you have your surgery?
  18. Due to the economy I stopped most of my baking and gift giving, I sent cards with notes. One branch of my family is having a "Yankee Swap" everyone brings something, less than $10 and we open them and swap them with the person before us if we want their gift. It's a lot of fun and can be totally hilarious. We then eat (I'm making a healthy Greek Pasta salad). It's this Sunday afternoon. I hope we don't get too much snow, we have a big storm tomorrow and I had a "Red Hat Christmas party" to go too, and got word they canceled it and will have it on the 26th instead. So I don't have any temptations around the house. I am going to make a healthy dinner Christmas day for the family. A nice rib roast, and lots of veggies. Just hang in there and not eat the goodies. You will be so proud of yourselves when you lose a pound or two and not gain any.
  19. Wow Congratulations that is wonderful. You are almost there bet you feel great. It's a long road but worth it.
  20. I lost another 2 pounds this week, after being at 177.2 for two weeks. I hate when I hit a plateau. I had a fill also on Thursday so that did help jump start me again. Hope to make my 170 goal by New Years. I have two Christmas parties so I will make sure I am very careful what I eat. That will leave only 40 lbs to lose next year...by August. I am taking it one day at a time.
  21. Wow got up this morning and I lost 2 pounds. I finally broke my plateau. I am so happy. So very close to my goal weight for January 1, 2009 of 170. Feeling good too.
  22. You will love the care and attention at Lahey. I hope you go to the support meeting in December. It's the 30th and I will be there. They are a great bunch. I just had my third fill. I hope I get a bit more restriction. Hope to meet you there...take care and good luck.:rolleyes2::thumbup::cursing:
  23. Hey everyone is doing great. We are all almost half way to goal. Feeling good after that third fill. liquid for a few days. I am craving salads isn't that funny. I always love them and trying new ones. I got some baby spinich, and some crumbled blue cheese, some whole walnuts and dried cranberries. I also got some nice no calorie dressing, by Waldon Farms. Balsamic vinagarette. It's really good with a little added Splenda for sweetness. That will be my dinner tomorrow I think. I could live on salads.
  24. Well a bit over 52 lbs. since August 7th. I am just over halfway there. Hope to be goal weight by the summer. Congratulations to everyone for doing so well.....we rock!!!!
