Exercise
I never worked out before surgery. Now I work out at Curves 6 days a week as well as walk or bike nearly every day. I truly do feel better because of it and have no intention of quitting.

I match my driver's license!
Congrats! I wish I could say the same. I had to renew mine last week and the girl asked me if my stats were still the same and of course I said yes kind of figuring I would be there soon enough, but the look the girl gave me was like YEA RIGHT!! Soon enough

What food gets stuck the most?
Rice and beef are very hard for me to get down. I have just decided that it just isn't worth it to even try eating those anymore.

Clinical Policy on WLS for UHC?
I don't know what the official policy is. When I called UHC about WLS originally, I was told that I had to have a BMI greater than 40, and to have had a diagnosis of morbid obesity for at least 5 years. That was it, no 6 month plan, nothing about comorbidites, etc. I don't know if this was policy specific or their policy in general since my husband works for a company that is really big on health and wellness. We had a different UHC policy a few years back when my husband worked for a different company that had an exclusion for WLS and they said at that time, NOPE, NO WAY, NOOOO! So who knows. Hope you find your answers soon!

Freaking out a little (clothing purge)
A lot of clinics and support groups have clothing exchanges, maybe you could participate. I think once you start putting new stuff on and seeing how much better you look, those feelings of sadness will fade some.

Roller coasters?
We are going to Florida next month and will be hitting some of the parks at Disney & Universal. I will be 3 months postop at that time, is it safe to go on the roller coasters and jarring rides at that point? I plan on asking my doctor about it when I get my next fill but I would also like some BTDT opinions as well. It would not be the end of the world if I skipped the rides, I would rather protect my band, but if it is safe, then I am going.

Non-adjustable Bands
I have never heard of the non-adjustable band. Maybe some of the veteran bandsters know. Good luck with your surgery!!

What is the most you've ever weighed? The least?
My highest was 320 around Christmas this past year. My lowest was 125 when I graduated high school.

Do you have words that irritate you?
I hate the word 'items' I can't explain why but I can't stand when people refer to their stuff as items. Also, the word 'pickles' often sends me into hysterics, no real explanation on that one either :rolleyes2:

Did you have weight problems as a child?
Not me. My weight problems didn't start until I was 20 when I had my first child and was in a bad relationship. Food became my friend :smile2:

Have not been to Dr. in 3 yrs.. I need 5 yr history
I have UHC and my records from 2002-2003 were submitted along with records starting in 2007 from my current PCP and I got approved right away. The person I talked to at United said that they wanted to know that you have had a diagnosis of morbid obesity for at least 5 years. I would schedule a physical with your primary right away and discuss your desire for surgery with her asap. That way you have older records as well as current. It worked for me. Good luck!!

Who EXCLUDES this surgery?
The financial coordinator at my clinic said that United was the easiest company to get patients approved through. I do know someone who has United and their policy has an exclusion though.

Same story, different day
I also have UHC and needed a 5 year history. I had records submitted from 2002-2003 from one doctor and also records from my current doc starting in 2007. Nothing was submitted in between. They approved me right away. From what I understood about it, they just want to know that you have had the diagnosis of morbid obesity for at least 5 years.

OOOO...my aching muscles!
You can also make sure you stretch before and/or after working out. It doesn't seem important but is really is. This helps me tremendously.

ab lounge, any one have one?
I had one a few years ago. It didn't do much for me and took up too much space IMO.

Who is that girl? Is it really me?
You look great!!

A sad (if it's for real) eBay listing
Wow! Poor guy.

finally GOOD news!
I got approved January 7 and they wanted to schedule me 2 weeks later, but due to my own scheduling issues, I had to wait til Feb 14. Hope you get your date asap!
