  1. My pre-op starting weight is 251 ugh!
  2. Well just wondering how those of you who have started their pre-op are doing? I don't "officially" start until Monday but, I did try it today and whoah boy was it hard! I think my biggest problem is drinking plenty of water. I'm not an extremely busy person but I am VERY forgetful and I plain forget to drink. My pre-op diet is not as strict as some I have to have 4 servings of protein drink 2 w/ milk, 2 w/out. The ones not mixed with milk are TOTALLY disgusting I have to choke it down! I''m also allowed low carb yogurt, SF jello, SF pudding, unsweetened applesauce, tomato juice, certain raw veggies, and cream of wheat. I can't do tomato juice or the cream of wheat, I've tried and it's just nasty. I was starving and ended up eating dinner with my kids. It's no biggie as I'm not supposed to officially start until Monday but am worried I won't make it without cheating and I REALLY don't want to cheat but DAMN I was starving most of the day today! So I was wondering how some of you are doing and if you making it through and HOW?!LOL!
  3. I am starting to freak out! My surgery is Nov.3 as well! This preop is going ok I'm just wondering how long it will take before I start wanting real food. I've been so excited to start preop because I just feel like crap and want to get the show on the road! I can't wait!
  4. I think I would start getting a bit sore by then!LOL!
  5. My dh loves me no matter what. I have recently told him of my plans and he said I don't like it but I can't tell you what to do. If I didn't consider him in any of my plans I would not have asked him at all, I would have got the tattoos without asking or caring. I personally don't see tattoos as a "dealbreaker", I know my husband won't divorce me because I got a tattoo. Maybe if I had my arm sleeved out without telling him he would but I don't have any plans to do something that drastic especially without his approval. As far as growing older with tattoos, I've always had a different view on that. Because when I'm 80 I don't think wrinkly tattoos will be my biggest concern. I saw an older woman with a tattoo on her ankle and I thought it was bitchin so I guess I'm just different growing old with tattoos doesn't bother me or make me second guess getting something I want. I'm against getting names unless it's my children. But thanks to all for the opinions
  6. Ok so I've always LOVED tattoos, I have 3 currently but want more. My husband of 8 years has none. I don't care about how many he has or doesn't have and have never pressured him to get ANY. I have told him that I plan on getting more and especially when I lose weight. I have no plans on sleeving out my arms or anything that drastic but he is still being sort of a butt about it. He doesn't like "a lot of tattoos" as he says. So I'm a very independent person and told him like it or not I'm getting them because it's my body/my life. I was wondering what you all thought? Just in case you are wondering I'm planning on getting 1) butterflies on my left ankle 2) skulls w/crossbones on my hips 3) very small star spray behind my left ear 4) music lyrics that will represent my journey through life in the small of my back. So-opinions, suggestions?
  7. I have it and I can't wait for the day I can look down and see something other than belly and boobies!:wink2:
  8. You should let tricare know what he is doing. Then I would choose a different doctor. I'm sure in Florida you have options as far as bariatric surgeons. I WOULD NOT put up with that! It's obvious he is doing it for the money and that would scare me and make me not trust his surgical skills. Just my opinion though, good luck!
  9. Ok I bought this protein powder from Wal-Mart and it stinks! I mix it and it still stinks!! So, is there any out there that doesn't smell. I want to get a vanilla whey powder and an unflavored powder. Thanks for the help!
  10. Yesterday I was going over my paperwork on the pre/post op diet. My dr. recommends 80-90 grams of protein/day. I can have a lot on my preop diet. I'm supposed to have 4 servings of Protein shakes 2 mixed with milk and 2 mixed with non-milk. Anyway, my question is do you plan out your meals ahead of time to make sure you get the recommended amount of protein or do you just make note of your protein intake through the day? It's just a lot and I'm getting worried that I will mess this up.
  11. My goal weight is 150 and it is NOT to look "hot" but to feel good and that is a weight I had the most energy at and I actually felt good about myself. I am getting this bad to feel better, to be healthy, to live a healthy lifestyle and to change my life and that of my family. I could lose more and still be in a healthy range of weight but I think that is a weight I can maintain with the band. Hopefully, I will get there.
  12. I have tricare prime. My husband is active duty. I haven't had my surgery yet but I have not paid anything and it is my understanding that I won't pay anything either. Hope this helps!
  13. Get unflavored protein powder and put in your broth and soup.
  14. I have triwest prime. I got approved for surgery in August and my surgery will be in November. I am 5'8 252lbs at initial consult w/ surgeon. My BMI was 38. The only documented co-morb. I had was PCOS w/ insulin resistance. I was approved in 2 days. It never hurts to try. Good luck!
  15. I only have to do 1 week of preop diet. It will consist of 3 protein shakes a day, SF jello, SF popsicles, veggies cooked or raw and all the SF beverages I want. I think I will actually do 3 extra days of pre-op cuz I want to be sure my liver shrinks!:tt2:
  16. Time is going by and I am starting to freak out! I am looking so forward to change in my life! I am ready for this tool to help me!! I've always needed help with this weight and now I'm FINALLY getting it!! THANK GOD!!
  17. Surgery date: 11/3/08 Highest weight: 252lbs. Goal weight: 150lbs. I'll post again when I start my pre-op then again after surgery. Great idea! Thanks Froggi!
  18. I am a carbaholic! I don't care too much for candy but I love ice cream, pudding, cake, pie, bread, potatoes, gravy, etc. If noone is around I can finish a whole pie by myself! And I am insulin resistant. I'm praying and ready to change bad habits and can't wait to get banded for help to NOT overeat on these sorts of items. I'm hoping my new eating habits will help curb the cravings.
  19. Right or wrong people are going to do it! Anyway I would suggest it be with people you aren't FRIENDS with but people who may be acquaintences with. That way you don't have anything invested in them but you know them well enough to know they aren't crazy. HAHAHA!
  20. I'm Carly! I've been married to my husband for 8 years, we have 2 kids 8 and 2. My husband is in the Air Force and we just recently moved to Montana from San Antonio. I have always been about 10-20lbs overweight. I had lost 20lbs about 10 years ago but when I got pregnant I gained 70lbs then it snowballed! I developed PCOS and since then I have looked into lapband. I finally got approved in August and will be banded November 3rd. I am looking forward to getting healthy, changing bad habits, having more energy, and overall just FEELING better. Looking good doesn't hurt though!HAHAHA!
  21. I will be banded Nov.3rd! I only have 30 days left! I'm getting so excited, I called my surgeon's office today to check in with them since my initial appt. was way back in August. I scheduled my pre-op appt. on the 29th. WOW!! I'm so ready for the change!! My doctor requires a 2 week pre-op diet for those with BMIs 40+ and only 1 week for those with BMIs below 40. I am at 37 maybe 38. I was thinking of doing two weeks just to be on the safe side or maybe start a couple days before the "official" start day.
  22. Hey just reading everyone's posts make me miss MS!! I lived in Columbus from 99-03!
  23. :w00t:I am so excited! I called my surgeon's office and scheduled my pre-op testing appt.!! It will be Oct. 29th! I can't wait! WOO-HOO! My surgery is on November 3rd! So close, I can't believe it!
  24. I don't really have any:( However I did do better grocery shopping, I got a Kashi cereal that has 9grams of protein per serving. I got some SF carnation instant breakfast and tried some greek-style yogurt that has 10 grams of protein per serving!! I think now that it is October I'm starting to prepare myself more and really making better choices with my food! And since I did SO bad in Sept. I think that is a NSV for me.:cool2:
  25. Heck yeah! If you are willing to come all the way to Montana I will have quite a spread for you!!LOL!
