  3. have heard that watson's bedside manner not so good, but he is good surgeon...his partner hodge very nice, good surgeon...nobody i worked with had heard of Dr. Kappa, so i am guessing it is just the area...
  4. watson and hodge with Surgical Group of Johnson City have a really good reputation...don't think you could go wrong with either one of them....Hodge done my gallbladder and is doing my band as well...both good...
  5. hey guys...i am on 4th day of my preop diet...plus i am PMS'n sooo bad...i went to do my pre-op registration yesterday. i had to pee in a cup, have 9 tubes of blood drawn, my ekg, plus a chest xray... the radiologist made me so mad (i know she was doing her job, it was the way she spoke to me)...she asked if there was any chance i could be pregnant...and i said "well...i don't take birth control, but i have fertility issues, and i am supposed to start any day, so i would guess that i am not" and she said, "well, i need a definite no before i can do the test..." so i reminded her they just made me pee in a cup plus did bloodwork, test it and see...and agian she was like "well, i need a definite no before i can do the xray, and it will take days to get the results back on your labs..." i said, "you mean yall don't have a dipsick you can put in the urine and do a pregnancy test in the hospital? (which i know they do, cause i work at a facilty owned by the same company) she said no. and stared at me like i was an idiot....so i told her, she was not getting a definite "no, i am not pregnant to come out of my mouth" so they said they would have to wait and do the chest xray the morning of the surgery.... people, i am the most passive person in the world, but my head rotated on my shoulders....i guess the PMS, stress of the upcoming surgery, and this liquid diet is a bad combination for ultimate moodiness...hehe!!!
  6. i understand about finding something that works and sticking to it...i have been on welbutrin for a few years and just had to have dose incresed a few months ago...it's time released as well...but they make it in regular non-time-released so i am going to try that...good luck to u....
  7. if your anti-depressant is time-released...see if it comes regular instead...or ask about switching to another one that is not time-released....maybe?
  8. i ate everything that i craved for a week...i did not think i was going overboard too much...but i gained 5 lbs...this is my 3rd day on clear liquids...7 more to go...hopefully i will be able to make it....but it was good for me to purge my head of cravings before...i don't really crave anything now and feel like i can make it...hopefully...i am sure i won't be perfect, i just have to always get right back on track if i mess up...has to be a way of life not a diet....good luck to everyone.
  9. thanks...it's these things that i need to know...
  10. hope you are feeling well and hope to hear from you as soon as you are up to it
  11. hey gg!!! i am so excited for you...hope you are feeling well...hear from you soon, nay
  12. happy 4 u! hope the dry heaves go away...
  13. september 11, 2008 @ 10:00 a.m. i am on my 3rd of 10 days of clear liquids...with a little bilt of cottage cheese(1/2 c. 3x's day) and atkins shakes (2 a day)...i am glad it started because the week before i was eating like crazy and gained 5 pounds...i am not weighing again until the morning of surgery...good luck to those who have had theirs and the one's going in soon...can't wait to hear from you....nay Oh! by the way...i have a major bowel prep day before surgery...bottle of mag citrate and 2 bottles of miralax, and more if i am not clear...a guy i work with had the surgery and he said to get like baby wipes and tucks pads because hiney will be sore after all of that...so be prepared:tt2:
  14. hey teri, i have gained 6 pounds since my final viisit aug.12, that is terrible...i am having to check myself...i thought the reason for the pre-op diet was to shrink the fat away from the liver, so they could maneuver around it safely? maybe u don't have a fatty liver...i do. they gave me the pre-op diet, and the gave me a bowel prep to do the day before...so like i was saying maybe you don't have fatty liver problem?
  15. Everybody calls me nay or naynay, been with my husband for about 8 years...he hunts and fishes, i go to work and come home...i have no hobbies or life at all..i let the fat dictate...we had a miscarriage in 2001, no luck since...i am hoping for a life and a baby out of this deal...i am diabetic with PCOS, so losing the weight might help me to get both of my prayers answered...it's nice to meet everyone:regular_smile:
  16. i have been trying to figure out something for me to do....i can't sew, knit, or do any crafty stuff:blushing:...i thought about making candles to sell to people i work with...someone told me it was time consuming and that is what i need....i kept hoping instead of food addiction i would develop exercise addiction....what do ya think my chances are for that to happen??:cursing:
  17. hey, i don't know if the PCOS goes away or not...i will have to ask my dr. i do know that all of this is part of what they call metabolic syndrome....and i am hoping to get rid of it...the pcos can cause diabetes, heart disease, infertility, not to mention the painful cysts...now my cysts are alot better and so is the pain, since i have been taking metformin...it is the treament for PCOS...and it really does help...
  18. i have to say it is nice to hear from someone that you did eat normal foods again...i have just heard people say at the group meetings, things like bread and stringy foods are really iffy and get stuck alot....so it thrills me to hear someone say something positive....i start my pre-op diet on the 1st...ready to get this show on the road...
  19. hope you get your date soon!!
  20. i am guessing from what i have read that the doctors advise different pre-op and post-op diets...i am dreading the things that i won't be able to eat anymore. i was told i could not have pineapples, beef, corn, anything with a stringy texture...but...i am looking forward to being healthy, so it's worth it...just the closer it gets the more i'm like...no pineapples? ever...? but i am getting my supplies ready...going today to get my diet instructions from the doc...i like glucerna better than the atkins shakes...atkins to me has an after taste...but i drink them...they help stablize my sugar if i have one for breakfast better than the glucerna...
  21. gg, awesome vlog...very brave and inspiring...
  22. i know one huge fear i have is the fact that i threw up 3, rather violently, times after my gallbladder was removed...so i am just scared to death that i will throw up and cause the band to slip...my doc says that it's not a good thing that i threw up, so he is going to give me even more anti nausea meds than i had before....
  23. have you and your sister always had issues or is it new? and is she over weight or not? just curious, trying to figure her out a little bit...cause that's just terrible...and... that is the one thing i am trying to figure out....a hobby??? i can't sew, i can't draw, yada yada yada...i keep telling everybody at work i am going to have to turn to drugs or alcohol or shopping...just kidding though, but i am seriously wondering what i am going to do...i thought about starting a candle making project and sell them at work...but i don't know, maybe take a class or something...
  24. my doctor didn't give me a stress test...ekg was normal...but on june 16th, i started having chest pains...had been having them for a while, got scared enough to go...packed up stuff for overnight, cause i work there and knew they would keep me overnight...they did...so that was when i got the stress test...i think i lasted right at 7 minutes, i was impressed...but it was negative, so i am not mentioning it to my WLS doctor...don't want anything to postpone this....been over 6 months as it is...since it was negative....
  25. like everybody else, i have a list, so i can't name just one thing....been a diabetic for about 7 years, high blood pressure even longer- i want to be off the meds and have energy my husband took me to Myrtle Beach last year for my birthday, i wore capris and 3 quartered sleeves- Want to go to the beach with my husband, and at least wear shorts, and feel romantic have pcos so there is infertility issues- would like to have a couple of kids really fast before i get too old
