I was told I would not get a fill :confused2:until 6 weeks, I was surprised :laugh:when my Doc asked if I wanted a fill. Of course, I said yes. I started on full liquids 48 hours after surgery and got to go to mushies at one week. After that I was told to start adding regular foods and like Navywifejenn, was told to add food slowly and back off if needed. Well, I could eat anything with no problem. :Banane30: I think every doc is different and for most the Realise band is fairly new, that band is designed for less slippage so perhaps that is why they begin to fill quicker. Who knows! :biggrin: I just know that I have done fine with the fill and can really tell a difference again!:thumbup:

I went to the doctor today and he did my first fill! Strikeuptheband: I guess the doc went to the same seminar, he just forgot to tell the office staff. He told me the same thing, they do the fills sooner with the realize band. He checked me out and said, "Do you want a fill?" of course I said YES! :biggrin: It didn't hurt as bad as my allergy shots! I laid on the table, he said it would pinch and then sting, it did both and then I could hear the fluid going in. Then it was done and he gave me a bottle of water and some crackers and had me eat. I was fine and he told me it might be later in the day or even tomorrow before I felt any different. He said if I wanted I could come back in 2 weeks for my second fill. OMG I was so happy. I went to Splash Country,:Banane30: at Dollywood with my Grandchildren and my daughter and was fine all day, I did have a little more pain in the port area, but not bad. I still got on all the waterslides! FUN! At dinner tonight I was only able to eat a small portion of my "child's plate" OMG! That made me feel so happy! Hope you all get to start the fills soon! I was beginning to get discouraged, but this is giving me a new outlook again! It feels like when I first got the band and was swollen! :thumbup: Yeah! for the BAND!

We won't quit this one, cause I know some more new Jazzy Junes will join us! Hope you are all doing well! I had my first fill today!

I go to the doctor tomorrow, but the office clerk told me that I won't be getting a fill. She said he doesn't do them until at least 6 weeks! I hope she is wrong! I need a fill now, I am going to go ready for a fill, nothing to drink or eat, just in case I can get the fill. I will let you know what they do. Strikeuptheband! I am impressed, that you got the fill! I have the Realize band too! I use the web site, but I think they could do better on the food bank, I prefer the Daily plate or the Calorie-count.com. I have to write the stuff down!

I agree with Grey! You need to up the calories to between 1000 to 1200 per day. Better for your health and you won't burn out so quickly. Remember this is for a lifetime!

Hunzi: Once I catch a June Bug I never, never, never let them go! Hang around! You are a bandster! They will be able to fix you up soon! This is a great place to get support and you know that!

Dear Waikiki: I am sure you have the prayers and love of all the Jazzy Junes! I pray that the days ahead will bring comfort and peace to you and your family. No matter what the current wife decides to do perhaps you and your grandmother can go to a church together or even sit quitely at home and have a small service for him. Remind yourself that his spirit will be with you always and he is with God now! I send my respect to your mom for being the one to drive you to visit your dad in hospice! That is a huge support for you! Continue to look forward and you will be a proud tribute to your dad! Prayers are going up for you, your Grandmother and your MOM!

My port site hurt for about 3 weeks, and I thought thatI was going to be deformed cause it was so lumpy there. Now it is almost gone and the site rarely hurts now. Be patient and it will get better! The more you move the sooner you will get better at this point. To begin with it is better to keep that place stable. I would hold it when I got up and down to keep the pressure off. Good luck!

Yes, the straw lets you suck in air and gives you more gas. I love the protein shakes with a straw, but have started to just drink it. The things I had to give up as to loose the straw and stop chewing gum both increase the gas. From what I understand is that the excess gas not only hurts, but it can increase the size of your pouch. The carbonated drinks, ie cokes, alos will increase the size of the stomach pouch. Anyway, hope that helps!

I was told that full liquids were anything that would pass through a straw (but do not use a straw! That is a no-no!) I stuck with Campbell's Soup at Hand and V8 Splash. I didn't do eggs or mashed potatos until the mushie stage. I am now on full foods and about to go crazy cause I need a fill. Good luck to you! PS be sure to check the food and nutrition section. If I had stitches they were inside. I think they glued me together! My incisions are all healed up! Call you doc, after 2 weeks you should be completely better in the wound areas. Good luck!
