I agree with you about babyfood if it is the fruits and oatmeal, but I was trying to eat the meats and vegetables....still trying to doctor them so I can eat them....when gone I plan to make my own "babyfood"....being a diabetic, I try to stay away from fruits and any high carb stuff. I do add alittle bit of baby fruit with some of my meat purees...they help. Have a good one, back to work....much better day at work today. I think I paced myself better and I am not so tired or uncomfortable.....i'll be ready for a day off though........ Julie

How do you know if you are full................hopefully not by throwing up. I have never felt full or uncomfortable. Is this common after surgery or do I need a fill???? I am not due for one until Feb 4th..................:girl_hug:

Crackedpapper................don't worry, it was with my MDs approval and my incisions were closed up enough. They are completely closed today and there is no signs or symptoms of infection. That is one good thing working in the neonatal ICU..soooo many docotrs to pick their brains and get a daily check up. I have been a nurse for 28 years and a paramedic for 10 and I won't do anything without talking to my doctor first.............Now if I can just get a handle on the food as wellllll.:girl_hug:

Hi all............ Crackedpepper............Back at work....12 hrs can kick your butt......But I did OK. Still having sharp gas pain in my upper left shoulder area..........I have one more shift tomorrow and then have 2 days off................................yeh. Had Optifast today...makes me feel safe. I did make some homemade tomato soup and it was really good. It is amazing that I love V8 juice and tomato soup, but hate tomatoes. I'm allergic to bell peppers and almost all prepared food has bell peppers in it, so I have to make most of my meals by scratch. I try to do this on my days off and my hubby is great at making dinners that are mostly south beach meals. I guess it will take a lot of getting use to.....that is kindof depressing..........I grew up in an Italian neighborhood with Sicilian Godparents and Italian friends ....... Pasta, pasta, pasta.............anyday over cake and Cookies.............. :girl_hug:

Clear liquids include jello.......can you have that?? I had some 2nd day and had no problems..........I had to stay on clear liquids for only 3 days then graduated to full liquids. Thats when I started back on my optifast.......I've never felt hungry. Take care and keep coming back.

I had a few gaping holes (5) after a few days....cleaned them out and put steri strips over them.....pulling the skin tight so the incisions closed up. I also put some "new skin" glue over that. I am having really good results. In just a few days you can almost not even see the incision sites. Even my Doctor said they look really good (even with my diabetes which makes healing a little bit slow). Make sure your incisions are not infected and if you are concerned at all please ask you doctor. Hope all goes well.

There are good days and not so good days.....I guess it will take research and tasting a few yucky things before we can figure it out.....I will keep trying and keep posting .......will you???? I have been a nurse for 26 years and a paramedic for 10.....go see a doctor if you have any questions or worries about your chest pain.....I had some as well but It was terrible gas pain that moved upward toward my left shoulder...it was very uncomfortable for several days and very sharp....exercising my shoulder helped....hope you feel better.........Julie

I have added a few things like very liquidy cream of wheat, V8 juice, and I even tried babyfood...yuck........won't eat that again. I am a diabetic to complicate things.........I feel safe with optifast because my blood sugers are doing so well and I don't feel hungry with optifast either.

Hi to my fellow Jan. 08 banders........How are you doing??? I am trying to add food to my optifast diet, but I am scared. It is so easy to stay on the optifast. I have had an 18 lbs weight loss and my diabetes is doing sooo well. HELP...what do I add without worrying about it............scared and worried today...........Julie

You are so right on about the profound impact on your life when you have used food as a friend, a high, an escape, a coping mechanism.....or all of the above............I have to be very careful not to replace food with other things like shopping, sleeping, sex.........you catch my drift. Counseling is a very good thing to keep up with the addiction factor...........best of luck and lots of love.........Julie
