Ounces away from being down 118 pounds and I feel amazing. I work hard each and every day from waking up at 5:30 am Monday -Friday to workout at the gym, bike rides after work and on weekends, eating healthy and making good choices, as well and attending a weekly support group to connect and keep my head straight. I have a ways to go, but dammit I feel good!!!!

Leaving Las Vegas.
On Saturday we dressed up for a night on the town, just like we do every year. Only this year over the course of the evening men and women complimented me on my cocktail dress or told me I looked beautiful.
What was more amazing was I FELT beautiful. I felt like I could smile graciously and accept their compliments with confidence.
Not because I was the thinnest woman in the room or the most lovely but because I am fighting hard for who I am. I fight hard for mental, spiritual, and physical wholeness and health. I feel strong. I feel wise. I feel beautiful.
I feel like for the first time in two decades my outside is starting to match the inside.
I am more proud of that than the number on the scale any day.
Small decisions lead to big changes in a year.

melie reacted to Proud2BMe in Crackers?
Crackers are a no-no food, especially during the weight loss phase. It's important to stick to a low-carb diet with the focus on Protein and non-starchy vegetables during the weight loss phase to maximize weight loss. Many people still don't realize that the weight loss phase is not permanent. Once it's over, it's over, meaning that you have reached the end of what the sleeve can do for you and if there is any additional weight that needs to be lost then you will have to do it the hard way, diet and exercise.
Additionally, other than the fact that they are high in carbs, crackers are slider foods, meaning they slide right down your sleeve and do not produce the necessary restriction. As a result, it's possible to eat a large amount of them.
I'm not saying you can't ever again eat crackers, just make sure you are eating them in moderation and not make it a daily thing. As you go further out from your surgery you will discover how every easy it is to sabotage your weight loss by eating the wrong foods.

melie reacted to leanora27801 in Lost 200lbs total
As of today I have lost 200lbs. I started at 439 and today 239. My goal was to reach 239 by April 1st, but with God's help, hard work at the gym by burning 2000 - 2100 calories a day in cardio and weightlifting and eating around 1100 to 1200 calories a day i have hit my goal much earlier than expected. I'm so proud of myself because i haven't weighed under 250 since i was 13 years old and I'm 38 now. For anyone thinking they can't lose the weight use my story as inspiration because it can be done, and i will help anyone that wants to try. I have to thank my husband and kids for keeping me focused everyday and loving me. I also can't forget the rest of my family, who has also given me the encouragement i needed also.

melie reacted to DiminishingDawn in Any Long-Timers here
Are there any true veterans on here? I immediately went to the veterans forum here but the definition there is "6 months or more". In wls circles a veteran is typically defined as anyone 2 years out or more. So it makes me wonder I'd there are any log timers here at all?
Anyway, glad to find this forum. More than Willing to help any newbies, meet new friends :-)
I'm 7 years out of rny, teacher and Canadian.
Thanks for having me!
