I'm 6 days out and today was the first day I didn't regret getting the surgery. Yesterday, I cried most of the day. I wanted to give up and there is no physical way for me to give up at this point.
I'm hoping as I progress onto purees, soft foods, and ultimately unrestricted textures, I will regret the surgery less and less. I definitely was NOT prepared for what to expect post-op from the gas pain to the sensitivity to plain Water. I hope it gets better.

I was in the same boat 1 year ago. 2 in 1 surgery is no guarantee, but, if there was a complication that was very obvious, your doctor would have already told you that you needed to go the 2 surgery route. You'll do fine.
That is awesome that both you and your hubby will have the sleeve. I will lift both of you up in prayer that all goes well. Jake

Now the waiting is on. I submitted all the paperwork to get a conversion from lap-band to sleeve. I did everything they required and I pray that everything goes well! My only concern is my BMI. It is 35.5 BMI but they need only 1 commorbities (I have GERD, PCOS, Diabetes type 2, depression, anxiety, and high cholesterol). I hope this is enough for them
Prayers are super appreciated! I will keep you posted.

I'll be 7 months post op next week. I'm down 106 pounds. I'm proud of my progress but I am still having issues with seeing myself as a smaller me.

    this covers a lot
for me the sleeve made more sense. I didn't think that I wanted to reroute my insides when just a smaller stomach works. I am super happy with my sleeve. I have lost 175 lbs with my sleeve and am 8 months post op

I am supposed to have my band removed tomorrow also; sleeve to be done only if it is safe. I hope I wake up sleeved!
    How are you feeling otherwise?

You are so fortunate to have a surgeon that was willing to do both procedures in one surgery. My surgeon has almost flat out told me he wouldn't but at my insistence, he said he would play it by ear once he gets in there. He says he won't do it if it isn't 'safe', but I think he is just overly cautious. It is frustrating because it is $500 in copays for each hospital stay between the hospital, dr and his co-surgeon. Ugh. I am not a rich woman!

After reading the last two posts I decided to share my experience. I had my sleeve done on Wednesday April 20th. I was in the hospital one night and released the next day. Yes, those two days were bad (but thanks to drugs I don't really remember them!) and there were a few ouchie days but by Monday, I was feeling fine. In fact.... I feel better than I have in years!!! I have this incredible surge of energy and no hunger. I asked my doctor yesterday at our follow up and he said it may be hormonal. Whatever it is, I hope it lasts! I almost feel like it's a dream. Every morning I wake up I feel so fortunate to have had this done because it's giving me so much control of my life. I have been running errands, working in the garden, attending swim meets for my daughter and taking care of my bees (yep I keep bees ) However I am realistic. I KNOW I may hit bumps and will have stalls- I've learned this from the wonderful veterans how share here. That being said I know there is this forum I can turn to for help and guidance in those dark days and that is a great feeling. My kids and hubby are so supportive and love seeing me this happy. I'm not kidding... I kinda feel like I got a do over. My heart hurts for those who are having such a hard time... Honest to god I wish so much that things get better. I just wanted to share my experience for those that are considering surgery... Everyone has a different experience. I wish everyone the very best. - Jen.

It comes and goes...I was super nervous then I started getting excited...
Then the other day I was at a store, in front of me at check out was this very overweight man, I looked at the items he was buying, ice creams, pizzas etc all the stuff with not much nutrition but bunch of calories and sugar... Then I looked at my cart (I had veggies, broths, meat, sugar free jellos etc) and thought to myself "what is wrong with me that I can't do this on my own, that I have to have my intestines rearranged to help me lose weight"
But I do need help because obviously I can't do this in my own or and the lap band didn't help me to get to where I need to be.
I am nervous about complication, about not losing weight, about being sick if I can't tolerate food etc. but I am going through with it.
I am sure I will be a mess the day before and the day of

I'm scheduled for a band to sleeve revision for May 11, and boy am I a nervous wreck! Seriously. Everything I am thinking, feeling, saying, is all 'normal' according to all the posts, but it still doesn't make me feel any less anxious. I've had to take more ativan than normal just to keep my heart from jumping out of my chest, lol. Uggggggggh! I'm praying that my surgeon will remove the band AND sleeve me in the same surgery, but he won't guarantee it until he gets in there and assesses the scar tissue. OMG, I can't even imagine going through this a second time, not to mention the MONEY involved.
On top of my surgery date, my dear husband is getting sleeved tomorrow morning! I feel like throwing up, lol. Prayers welcomed!

That is awesome!! I'm 44, and 2 months out I have lost a total of 54 since I started my pre opp diet on Feb 8th. No carb withdraws at all, I don't find it's hard to say no. Honestly you can't eat a while lot and you learn to just be picky about what you do eat. I have had no issues other than 1 case of acid reflux. Good luck to you and your hubby!!!

Good luck to both of you!!! I'm excited for you guys. As for the carb withdrawal, it's a lot easier than you think. To be honest I haven't had any cravings for sweets or carbs. The harder part for me was meeting my Protein. It's a daily struggle, but I meet it. Week and half out, I'm meeting Protein and Water, down 10 lbs. Good luck!

Surgery started about 45 minutes late so that was beyond nerve-wracking. But surgeon just came out and said it went like clock work and was stabIle throughout. So relieved and thankful but i know the next few weeks are going to be hard for him. I'm not sure if should have mine done in just 9 days now. I'll see how he is doing the next couple of days.

I read your post and understood exactly what you were saying. There was no doubt to me that you said you need to lose around 100 lbs but you would be happy at 50 or 75. I am like you. My BMI is 39 and I should lose around during 90 lbs but man would I be tickled pink to lose 75. I am 56 years old and haven't had to chase kids around for many many years but would consider it a victory to be able to do the things I love to do more comfortably, stop shopping for online muu muus , garden, and look at myself in the mirror without disgust!
PS I found out a few hours ago that I was approved!!! Cannot wait to get rid of this damn band and get sleeved!!

Good news on your revision being approved.
No more ports to worry about. No more fills.
I've found my sleeve to be extremely easy to live with. The only times I've had heartburn has been when I've had coffee and Advil on mornings following a spicy food for dinner. I was a frequent adder of jalapeño & habanero peppers to a great deal of what I cooked & grilled. I love some spicy rubs, too. I've had to tone things down a small amount and realize that those spices are even more concentrated as I consume them without the carb loaded side dishes I was accustomed to eating along with them. At my 6 month check in I was encouraged to slowly add in vegetables in smallish amounts to my meals. Perhaps this will help me keep on spicing up the meats.
Sleeve has been trouble free. I hope that yours and your husbands are equally agreeable.
I think it is awesome that you are doing this together.
Once you both get back to what normal eating is (was around 2-3 months for me) you will be in sync. You'll go out for dinners and be ordering some very small quantities and laughing about it. food prep at home will be simple and easy. You'll have those same post-op wonderment feels, too. Shared awesomeness !!!!

My husband will be sleeved this time tomorrow. My stomach is in knots, to say the very least. Asking for your prayers and good thoughts for my darling hubby Frank!
Then 9 days later, I will be next. Getting a band-to-sleeve revision on the 11th, hoping surgeon will do both in one session. Dear God, I am so nervous for us both.
    Be well and happy Sunday
