This is fantastic. Thanks for sharing !
And also a reminder that one day I really would like to be able to travel with just a backpack. Smaller clothes will help

higher got a reaction from heidikat72 in Dating (ugh)
You should try online dating. Set a week or two aside where you just say yes to as many dates as possible and don't assign too much importance to any one date. Just focus on getting comfortable with putting yourself out there and the rest will flow from there. That's the great thing about dating in 2016!
I don't advise discussing surgery on the first date if you can avoid it. Personally I hate dinner dates anyway, try meeting for coffee, museums + galleries, go see a band or a play, hang out in the park....stuff that doesn't necessarily entail food/booze.

The search function on this board is practically non functioning in the mobile version which is what I'm guessing most people use.
That said- if I'm sick of READING the same thing over and over, I can imagine how tiresome it must be to write out thoughtful responses repeatedly.
The board is poorly laid out. There are way too many sections. It's very confusing for a first time user. The FAQs and stickies exist, but are large and unwieldy.

I know you're frustrated but from an outside perspective 11 lbs seems like a shit ton of weight to lose in 2 weeks. Like a huge amount. Lots of people don't lose anything in the first couple of weeks post op.

yeah, I didn't have any actual reflux symptoms that came on w/o Prilosec except for the raspy voice and some congestion. But those went away after a couple of days of restarting the Prilosec. My dr said if I had reflux "I would know it" but I think the symptoms must vary in different people.
I'm almost done with this round of Prilosec and am thinking about staying off it a bit to see what happens. I'll let you know if I lose my voice again.

It might be related to reflux. I was dealing w a raspy voice after I went off Prilosec and haven't had any issues since going back on. That's my only thought for you.

I have a gazillion food allergies (incl melons- just like you!) and also found out I was celiac through the VSG process.
It's so much easier to diet when you have fewer choices! Seriously. I am often the most irritating guest at a dinner party but it's all good because I wasn't going to eat more than a few bites of food anyway.
Your sense of humor will carry you through.

Us n00bs are just gonna take way more than we can give up until we aren't newbies anymore. I could definitely see how that could be frustrating- especially when you're getting piled on for sharing your knowledge.
Not to sound like #1 creeper but just know that plenty of us are spending a lot of time reading through your old posts, soaking up knowledge, taking notes, trying to succeed. That goes to all of you vets, but especially you @@Kindle I really get a lot from your posts.

Marijuana and ginger have both been my go to nausea cures. I'm really prone to motion sickness and it's worse when there's not much food in your stomachs. Pot works immediately and ginger takes a little longer. When I was in Colorado a store there sold a medical marijuana ginger tincture that was ideal. Not enough pot to get you high but it worked on the nausea. Wish I had bought a second vial because I used the first one up.

I'm actually smaller than my younger sister which has never happened before. Havent been this small since I was 17. Started my 1st job and have been there 7 months. Lost almost 140 pounds. Size 24 down to a size 2. Lots of milestones to be happy about

    1. I'm so close to "onederland" I can taste it. Or, err, not taste it as the case may be.
    2. I started rowing on Saturday, at the gym. The rowing machine kicked my ass. I vowed to it that I was gonna avenge myself and kick it back on Tuesday.
    3. I've consistently tracked everything that goes into my mouth via myfitnesspal for a month. The moral of that story: more Protein.
All in all, it's been a good nine weeks since surgery.

I eat as much as 1300 calories a day, never less than 850 and I'm very happy with my loss. I too am often surprised at how few calories many on here report consuming.
    I'm almost 5 months post-op.

Get a cloth measuring tape and take comprehensive measurements while you are still pre-op!
Measure your neck, chest, arms, waist, hips, thighs, calves, ankles and write it down somewhere. It's a great alternative to watching the scale and you'll find it thrilling to keep track of how many inches you lose in different places.
