  1. Hey Becca! Yeah I'm still around! Just been busy riding my motorcycle and stuff. No Bandster Hell for me. I still have restriction four weeks out. Weird huh? I had to go to my doctor a little early this week for another reason and he tested me by having me drink some Water and see how long it took to pass through my band. He said if he gave me a fill that I would be too tight! I'm able to eat a decent amount but not nearly as much as I used to eat! I actually had a fairly sizable lunch today and I'm really still full. Have a little head hunger right now and may have some sugar free Jello but don't think I can get down anything else substantial. How are you doing???? Yeah I thought Jason did that song flawlessly. He is sort a hippie throwback kind of kid. Really cute and genuine. Like you, I don't know that he is the next Idol, but I definitely think he will be successful in his niche.
  2. Yeah, Food Network is torture for me anymore. Except that one show that is about low carb cooking! LOL
  3. Yeah! Another Steeler!!!
  4. Yeah, they need to do something about the comb over when they move to the next level and start to do make overs on them. I have to wonder if Amanda's hair was her idea or their stylist's idea. She looked like Cruella Deville had just stuck her finger in an electrical outlet. Either that or her hair got stuck in that position while she was out riding! Either way, it was pretty hideous. Have to agree with Simon on that one. You know who else I think could really have a future is Chikezie (sp) He has a really nice voice and I could definitely see him on the R&B charts. What do you think of Jason Castro (dred dude). He is so sweet and mellow and I think he's talented. Just don't know that he has what it takes to be the next AI.
  5. ROFL! I'm the same way. I never say anything bad about anyone. I guess these people on TV are so far removed from us that it's "safe" to say bad things about them. Okay, I did love the "ish" comment! ROFL!!!! It was the little head bob that got me. Oh and for what it's worth, I have many gay and lesbian friends and I think that he would annoy them too! LOL He sort of reminds me of the flaming con in the movie Con-Air. You know the one that was so excited that he found a dress after they crash landed the plane and pranced around in it? LOL Then he took a machine gun and proceeded to go shoot at people. Hence the drag queen comment. Unfortunately, the last time I went to a drag show, the guys had better bodies than me! Go figure.
  6. ROFL!!! You are like my best friend! She hates football, but she actually made an effort to understand it at least since she's my best friend. She will still kiddingly ask me what inning it is
  7. I think of riding my Harley! But now that you have put it out there I will probably never be able to see his name without thinking of that song. Thanks!
  8. LOL, you and me both. I mourn when the pro bowl happens and I actually watch the draft and pre-season! LOL I love college too especially my GATORS! <chomp chomp>. Will be loving my lapband come next season when I won't have to squish my butt into those seats at the Swamp! For pros we are definitely Jag fans, also Steeler fans (DH is from PA) and da Bears! (ex is from Chicago by way of Ireland). So yeah, I live and breathe football and motorcycles LOL
  9. You're too funny. Yes! David Archuleta is so talented it's scary! He has a very promising future. I hear the record execs are already salivating over him. Not sure exactly what demographic he will appeal to though because he's so young. I can forsee another Justin Timberlake or something though. Big with the tweens early on and then matures to hit it big on the pop charts with a slightly older teen crowd. I also really like David Cook. Thinking he could be another Daughtry. I think Michael Johns will be right there at the end as well. I love his accent :bored: As for the girls, my fav is Carly. She has a wonderful voice and I love the fact that she is Irish LOL Syesha definitely also has it going and should be right there at the end as well. At first I was really big on Amanda just because she's the rock and roller and she rides, but her last couple of performances have left a lot to be desired. She needs to step up big tonight or faces elimination tomorrow I think. Okay, last but not least. Is it me or does anyone just really want to smack that Danny Noriega kid? Did anyone see his myspace video on TMZ? What a punk (no offense to the punk rockers out there). He'll make a great drag show queen. I think he is going to be this years Sanjaya. (He does have a good voice though, I'll give him that much, but his attitude ruins it for me) Okay, that's my picks and pans. What about the rest of you Idol watchers (you know who you are!)
  10. My surgeon's fee was $5,000 and the surgical center was $8,500, anesthesiologist was $250, program fee (whatever that is) was $500. Total was about $14,500. I was self pay however. Don't know why the $5,000 wouldn't be covered by insurance. Does your doctor not use any insurance companies?
  11. Hey you! I'm here, just been busy riding! (It's Bike Week down here and always something going on) Haven't put too much time on the computer. In fact, I was thinking about running about for an hour or so just to enjoy the beautiful weather we are having today (Sorry to all the northerners). Had to go to the doctor this week because I've been experiencing so much discomfort when I burp. I guess it's due to my hiatal hernia repair being rather large and it's taking it's sweet time to heal. He tested to see whether I needed a fill or not (a week early) but he said I still had good restriction so I will see what happens next week when I go back in for my scheduled fill appt. How are you progressing? I'm still sitting at 29 pounds. Been struggling with the same two pounds for a couple of weeks now. The scale just doesn't want to move. Guess I'm going to need to get my butt out there and exercise. UGH. You would think I would be losing as little as I eat now!
  12. Definitely Idol (maybe we need to start an Idol thread! LOL). There are so many good contestants this year! Otherwise, Big Medicine, Dog Whisperer, CSI (Vegas and Miami), just started watching New Amsterdam last night, it's pretty good, I'm not big on reality TV other than Idol or TV series. I watch a LOT of football during the season, NASCAR, lots of documentaries and such.

That's wonderful! Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!
  14. Damn Apples, look how much thinner your face is!!!!! You are doing great!!!!! Keep leading the way for us!!!
  15. I love Alaska. It's my favorite place in the world. Been there twice on business and am always awed by the beauty there. What do you do for work Leather?
  16. Some do, some don't. I'm four weeks out and still have restriction. Some people never even need a fill. They get plenty of restriction from the band itself. If you are one of those that lose restriction early on, just try to eat as much Protein as you can and drink lots of fluids between meals. It will help with the hunger.
  17. I really wish I HAD some confessions! Then I could explain why I'm plateaued! I did indulge somewhat today though. I went to Sonny's BBQ (one of my favorite binge and stuff yourself so full you can't move places) and order the LUNCH portion (something I've never done!) of pulled pork, with sides of sweet potato and baked beans. There was about 5 oz of pork which I drenched with mustard BBQ sauce and the potato was a small one. I didn't/couldn't finish all the meat and potato and barely touched my beans. Oh and I told them to hold the bread! I can definitely say the band works! I'm not eating nearly what I used to. I just wish it would result in losing weight. I've probably had more carbs today than I've had in a while (had a Carnation Instant Breakfast this morning). But other than that I've been true blue!
  18. Florida, bred, born and raised! LOL
  19. I had the same experience as GainesvilleGirl. Mine was a piece of string cheese rolled up with a slice of roast beef. I wasn't paying attention, took too big of a bite to begin with and then didn't chew properly. Next thing I knew I had major chest pain and it felt like it was going to try to come back up. I walked, and stretched. Then I made the fatal mistake of trying to wash it down. DO NOT DO THIS!!! It only made matters worse! It finally passed through with enough walking and stretching but you can bet I will pay much better attention to how big my bites are and how much I chew.
  20. Hi Gainesville! I'm pretty much in the same boat. Thursday will be four weeks for me. The pain from my surgery is all gone with the exception of some really bad discomfort when I burp; however, the doctors believe that is more from the hiatal hernia repair I had than the band. So far, my band and I are getting along fine. I also have restriction still (my doctor tested me when I went in on Monday about the other thing) and he said that he wouldn't give me a fill yet. My first fill is scheduled for next week so we will have to see how things change by then. I had one "stuck" incident so far. I took a bite of some string cheese rolled up in a slice of roast beef and wasn't really paying attention. Took too big of a bite to begin with and then didn't chew it like I should. Man oh man that is not a pleasant feeling. I walked and paced and stretched and thought it was going to come back up on me at a couple of points, but it eventually decided to go down. You can bet I pay more attention to how I eat now!
  21. Mel, Did you also happen to have a hiatal hernia repair?

The doctor tested me to see if I needed a fill and would have probably given me one if I had needed it, but he said I still have good restriction! He said that he has some patients who have never had a fill and do fine with just the band in place. I have been on ibuprofen for a few days now trying to get the inflammation from my hiatal hernia down and I'm wondering if it does go down how that will affect my restriction. Guess I will find out eventually. Right now however, I really don't feel like I need a fill. I can eat a good amount of food, but not nearly what I used to eat. Still only getting about 700-800 calories a day and trying to figure out how to boost that number up without increasing my quantity or my daily carbs. It's such a balancing act!
  23. I bet it's a fun job! Maybe one day I'll get to work for the Motor Co!
  24. We just had a cold front come through and it's going to be a bit chilly for several days but then it's supposed to warm up nicely and stay nice with the exception of next Tuesday. Otherwise, high's in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Can't ask for much better than that!! I'll definitely be in Daytona on Tuesday for the women's MDA ride lead by Karen Davidson. Then again the following Friday for our HOG chapter pin stop ride. Then probably again that Saturday to meet up with my ex-husband to show him my bike. Will probably get some other days in between. It's nice to only be about an hour away! Have fun!!! How long are you going to be here for?
  25. I've lost a two year old and a brain (the brain was questionable to begin with).
