So I am now 4 weeks post-op (surgery was 02/05). I am a low-BMI bandster; paid for the surgery myself because my insurance would not.

Most of my pain from the surgery is gone. It really took me about two weeks to be able to "do" for myself (getting out of bed, driving to work, etc.) I can do most things now; just still sore around my port incision.

I go for my first fill on 03/12! I can tell I already have some restriction; not everything goes down easy. I had a piece of sausage two days ago that I thought was going to be the end of me! Ha! It got "stuck"- - it hurt so bad! All I could do was to wait for it to pass, which took about 10-15 min. OMG!

I'm learning what I can and cannot eat!

Hi Gainesville!

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Thursday will be four weeks for me. The pain from my surgery is all gone with the exception of some really bad discomfort when I burp; however, the doctors believe that is more from the hiatal hernia repair I had than the band. So far, my band and I are getting along fine. I also have restriction still (my doctor tested me when I went in on Monday about the other thing) and he said that he wouldn't give me a fill yet. My first fill is scheduled for next week so we will have to see how things change by then. I had one "stuck" incident so far. I took a bite of some string cheese rolled up in a slice of roast beef and wasn't really paying attention. Took too big of a bite to begin with and then didn't chew it like I should. Man oh man that is not a pleasant feeling. I walked and paced and stretched and thought it was going to come back up on me at a couple of points, but it eventually decided to go down. You can bet I pay more attention to how I eat now!

Hey guys I just passed the 1 month bandiversary yesterday.

I have not PB'd.

I am very concious of how much I put in my mouth.

Some days I feel I have restriction...others I don't.

Some days it is a struggle to eat according to the guidelines...other days it is a breeze.

I am exercising harder now..and learning...to once again...feel that passion I once did for it....(probably because I know it will turn the scale in my direction) effective as of Monday that I weighed in...My BMI is 39...I would no longer qualify for my insurance to cover the surgery as they require BMI of 40+.

I am LOVING my BAND!!!

Well Just like Jax... I had my surgery exactly 4 weeks ago... I have no surgery pain except that discomfort feeling when I burp, cough, or lay down the wrong way. I've had 2 PB since surgery but that was completely my fault. 1st I was still on liquids and tried to have a bite of a hamburger, and 2nd was just yesterday when I tried to have a bite of a chili cheese hotdog.. I know I know I shouldn't be eating that but it was only going to be a bite.. oh well...

4 weeks post op for me too! I posted another thread about my first fill. I haven't had any PB'ing, sliming, or "stuck" incidents. As far as restriction, I'm like you 4jin, one day I feel TOTALLY restricted and others I feel like I don't even have a band!! My fill is only 1cc, so I'm not sure how much of a difference it is going to make. I keep reminding myself that this is a journey and it's not all going to happen overnight. Ho hum....I'll just have to wait and see what tomorrow brings!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
