Being anxious is perfectly normal. You'll do great. Just cut yourself some slack after the surgery (don't expect to be running laps in a day or two!). Give your body time to heal and follow your doctors' instructions. We're all here cheering you on!

ReneK got a reaction from Stephuhnator in Jeans that fit
I have a dilemma. I have lost 60+ pounds since my 1/6/16 surgery. I am thrilled to death! However, the weight loss hasn't been propotionate..I've lost more in my boobs/legs/hips than in my belly. I understand that everyone loses differently but I'm having a tough time finding jeans! Everything that fits around my belly is saggy in my butt! Any suggestions? Does anyone know a style or type of jeans that I might be able to try until my belly gets a little smaller?
    Thanks!

Ok so today I went shopping because my size 12 jeans were getting fairly loose. I went to my favorite place to buy jeans since having WLS. Lucky Brand Jeans.
I grab a pair of sweet and straight jeans in a size 10 and I am grinning from ear to ear because I am confident they are going to fit and I love that feeling. I have not fit into jeans this small since I was a teenager.
I put them on and I am right! They fit fantastic! I come out of the dressing room and model for hubby who promptly says, those look a little big. Maybe you should think about a smaller size.
I the immediately say "no way!" An 8 is not going to fit me. I am honestly not sure if I have ever worn a size that small. I decide to encourage him and prove there is no way I will get them up.
I grab an 8 and head back into the dressing room. I look at this tiny pair of jeans and go, here goes nothing. They fit perfectly! I could hardly believe my eyes.
Then the sales clerk tells me that they are buy one get one half off but she says the darker dyes seem to be more forgiving so she gives me an 8 and a 6 to try on. I laughed but thought well just see how far off you are.
Well, I put the 6 on, buttoned them up and stood there in shock. Now, I didn't buy the 6 because although I could wear them, I do like my jeans to be comfortable and have a little room.
So when I started this journey I wore 24 jeans and 26/28 tops. I am now in a size 8 and a medium or large top. Sometimes I have to get the large because I have a lot of loose skin.
I cannot believe where I am today! For me, clothes shopping is when I can really see the thinner me.

They are both adorable. And, as much as I love the style of the first one, I'd go with the black and white one!

That's exactly what I'm doing! Lol I have a 24oz Starbucks cup and I'm continually sipping from it....when I start to feel a tad bit like I might be hungry I take a few long sips to help tide me over for a bit. So far so good!!!!!

Officially lost 20lbs now which puts me under 300 for the first time in a long time! I know I still have a long way to go, but it's really encouraging. It's amazing what a difference 20lbs can make in energy levels and stamina. 2016 is off to a great start!

I totally agree. Most of the broth I'm eating is homemade turkey (made after thanksgiving) and homemade beef. I used bones and veggies and seasonings. After it was done, I chilled it so I could get all the fat off the top. It is seriously one of my favorite things!

I'm on day 7 (of 14) of a clear liquid pre-op diet. I can have 3-4 Protein shakes a day and Clear liquids (broth, sugar free Jello, non-caffeinated tea). In all honesty, it really hasn't been bad. I haven't had any bad days -- not even Christmas. I've discovered that warm liquids are my best friend!

i know i keep saying this but all of these comments and support really help!! i did great yesterday with all of the recommendations and i can't thank you all enough! my family is so supportive but sometimes you just have to hear the support and advice from people who can relate. i got in 40 g of Protein yesterday and stuck to my new way of life because i realized i am NOT a failure and yes this is a new way of life and not a diet. i need to change my relationship with food and thats something i need to work on. it doesn't mean i can't love it still, i just need to change the way i look at it. i got on pinterest and started looking at bariatric recipes, because i love to cook. I'm excited to continue on this journey knowing i can come here and get great advice and wonderful support by people that are real and have been through or are going through this journey. i found a couple Protein shakes i like at GNC called lean shake that have 25g protein and only 2 sugars. banana, strawberry, vanilla, and a chocolate. i picked up some nectar brand unflavored powder as well. I'm going to get on my new elliptical and start a new exercise program today as well. guys THANK YOU so much and please keep the recommendations coming and the stories how we're all human and people veer off track but the important thing is to pick yourself up right away, figure out what caused it, and move on.

The broth was the best thing. It was warm and savory. I got tired of the Protein drinks pre op and actually did an extra day of Clear liquids before because I couldn't stomach another Protein shake.

Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. Pre-op and post-op weight loss both counts towards your goal and 121 pounds is significant. It is common to hit stalls during the "Weight Loss" phase and even gaining a few pounds during the process does occur. The three most important requirements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are meeting the daily Protein, Fluid, and Vitamin requirements. It looks like you are getting good exercise. Sometimes individuals after surgery go all-out on exercise, they convert some of their fat into muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. Thus they may experience a slight weight gain in the process. But your level of exercise does not appear too strenuous.
So let us look at Protein. Your daily protein requirement is satisfied by the protein you obtain from meals combined with the protein from supplements (Protein shakes and protein bars). In the beginning the amount of protein from your meals at a 1/4 cup per meal is so low that it is negligible. But as time goes on and your meal volume increases, the meal portion becomes important. The Protein Shakes that you are consuming contains calories and they can add up. So an important strategy as you progress to larger food volumes is to concentrate on meals that contain significant amount of protein so you can start to reduce the amount of protein shakes you take each day (and the calories these shakes contain). As my meal volume increased, I went for 3 shakes a day, down to 2, down to 1 and then down to none. When I hit my first stall, this was the strategy that I used and it worked for me.

The other suggestion I would make is to actually make home made chicken broth. I ended up having to do this during my liquid diet and it sucked because I really wanted to eat the chicken and vegetables.
The reason I say this is because you really crave something savory during the liquid diet. Good chicken broth really helped me get through my diet. My surgeons office recommended it when they called to check up on me mid diet and I told them I was so sick of the sweet.
Use a whole chicken, garlic, celery, carrots, onion, salt and pepper in a pot of boiling Water. Make it a large pot so you have a lot of it. Strain everything out, pull the chicken off the bones and freeze it for later. It will make some great chicken recipes when you can eat real food again.
That would be my recommendation. This broth carried me through and like someone else said, the warm liquid really helps!
Oh, and the canned broth tastes like dirty dishwater during this diet.
