Hi Tssiemer1, I'm sleeve pre-op. My primary motive is reversing co-morbidities. I had constant pain. During my nearly 6 months since starting this process to get the surgery, I started out searching for an anti-inflammatory diet and landed on Paleo. There are lots of different ways to do Paleo, and I'm doing mainly an auto-immune protocol (AIP), but I do eat some dairy. I've been learning and doing it now since about November, with full focus since January. I've lost about 20 lbs, several inches in my waist, but best of all, the health benefits have been amazing. My inflammation and pain are a non-issue most of the time now. It's really true, Paleo reduces pain and inflammation. The food is delicious and very plentiful. Sugar cravings gone and under control. I'm feeling like I'm going to be a sure thing for long-term success by adopting this lifestyle now, and then keeping it going post-op.
My NUT and team were vague about these 6 months as far as what to eat and how I was supposed to lose weight (I must meet with them every month, show diet journals, progress, etc.) They're very supportive about what I'm doing, though.
I have my last NUT visit, #6 of 6, in 2 days. Nothing left to do after that but submit everything to my insurance company and then book me for surgery. I am beyond excited! Hoping for a surgery date this month, but it might be May.

Because healthcare is free in Canada and it's an elective procedure so it's a long wait.

Oh no!! You'll be fine!! I'm the queen of surgery!! I've had 8 surgeries in just a few years and it is scary but it's useless to worry about. You need rest so the surgery will go great and you'll be better soon!!
    Good luck!!

Bloomer, it's April! Can you believe it? I am so excited for you guys. I can't wait for you guys to be on this journey with me. We all should definitely meet up sometime to finally meet. I am 7 weeks post op already.....I feel like March flew by. I'm at 231 I believe. I started my monthly so I don't lose and I'm bloated a bit so the scale doesn't read right at that time lol. I see Ivan on Wednesday. I was supposed to see him last week but got sick with a sinus infection. I've lost 18 pounds since their 2 week check up appointment. Which was Feb 24th. I want to lose 2 more so I can he down 20. I've been walking alot at work. Since I work in retail and our store is kind of long. I at least do over 6000. Not much but it's better then nothing lol. I have a swimming pool so this summer will definitely do that. I do feel a difference in my body now. It's nice. The most thing I hate right now is I've got restless leg syndrome or insomnia. My body doesn't want to stop moving but my mind and eyes are so tired. I'm talking to Ivan about this. It sucks. And to be honest, I'm not doing the phase diets anymore. I pretty much eat what I want. I watch what I eat obviously. I crave fruit and veggies alot. I've been obsessed with broccoli lol. Bananas don't sit well, they sit heavy. Applesauce does that too. I want a salad but haven't tried it yet. I plan too soon.

I didn't read all the responses so you may be getting duplicate info here...but one year out from lapband surgery and with a loss of about 100 lbs., I looked in the mirror and saw an old and saggy lady looking back.
Fast forward two years...another 40-50 lbs. down, and with the help of a therapist and just time...I still have a turkey neck but it's not horrible. I did tighten up some and with makeup and nice outfits, I don't think anyone is really paying attention. Besides...over the last 18 months, I went back into the dating world and not a single man I met ever seemed to be aware of any sag or wrinkles. I got more than my share of compliments and the guy I'm in a committed relationship with, who has seen all of me...thinks I'm the sexiest thing out there.
I'm telling you...we are hardest on ourselves. I bet your neck area will be more than fine over the next year or so. If by next year, you still feel awful about this area, go check out plastic surgeons.
    Good luck!

Omg I'm cracking up! The panni is the thing that will freak me out I know this. But my double chin is now gone and I'm left with the weirdest wrinkles! They go up and down- from just under my chins down about 2 inches and they look like an elastic band- about 20 of them really really close together! Look!
Now this is really close up- it's about 2 inches wide. I can only imagine that since I'm 9 days post op it will get worse. I'm thinking Botox- quick!!!
