  1. I'm a little more than two weeks out and the nausea has just not hit me. I also feel the worst at night. I wake up feeling sick and really lightheaded. I'm worried about taking in too less of calories. I'm struggling with protein the past couple days. I can't get down a protein shake in a day. I'm just worried. I have no energy. Is this normal?
  2. I have a YouTube channel https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xvWFNVrVzFI
  3. I'm almost 3 weeks out and I was wondering if anyone has tried milk. I'm struggling to get my Protein in and I noticed my milk has 8g of protein and maybe should add some Protein powder to it. It's a little high in sugar (12g) but I was wondering if anyone has had any? The kind I have is 1%.
  4. I made the mistake of reheating scrambled eggs and I don't think it was mushy enough. I chewed really well but I felt some come back up and it feels stuck in my throat. I wanna just throw up and I'll feel better. Anyone been through this? Help.
  5. I'm 2 weeks post op. And it's the biggest emotional battle ever. I am proud to say I didn't cheat on my two week liquid diet. And I haven't had anything outside my rules now. But I cry ALL the time. Watching people eat makes me mad. I want everything I can't have. And I can't watch tv commercials. I get head hunger to the extreme. It's hard. It's a constant battle. My program only lets me eat three times a day with protein in between and it's really hard. I'm hoping it gets easier but I know I can't afford to fail this. This is my LAST chance to get this right. If I'm not successful at this surgery then there is literally no other option for me and my food addiction wins. I just try to tell myself that I hate living this way more than I love the food I crave. But it's hard. It's like a death of your old life. You go through an extreme grieving process. But when I see the scale moving it makes things a little bit easier.
  6. When I was in school I was teased so much for my weight even when I wasn't obese. A group of boys use to try to take my food tray away from me and say "they were doing me a favor". It got so bad that when I moved schools I never wanted to try to make friends. I sat in my house and literally ate myself to death. I gained almost 100 pounds in one year. After graduation I still didn't want to meet people. I didn't go out. I didn't do anything. And i honestly didn't care what happened to me because I was content with dying fat. I went to therapy for a few years. And finally found some sense of self worth but I still didn't go out. I started trying to lose weight and couldn't. I worked out for at least 2 hours a day every other day. And lost nothing. I tried a ton more diets and gave up honestly. One day I was on FB and my friend posted a video of someone who went through this and I ended up spending HOURS watching all of her videos. My mom didn't recommend this surgery to me. My doctor didn't give me the idea. And honestly I didn't even think it was an option. I thought it was for people who were trapped in their beds and weighed 800 pounds. But because ONE person put their story out there, it saved my life. She didn't care about bad uneducated comments or it being personal, and it changed my life. Now, I refuse to keep it secret because if I could pay it forward to one person like this girl did for me I can sleep better tonight. There's a lot of people out there that don't know this is even an option for them and it just takes one voice to make a difference. It is a personal journey. And if you feel the need to keep it a secret it's completely understandable. But for me I feel the need to give a voice to wls.
  7. It's for metabolism support.
  8. If u find the right one. My program says has to be less than 10 grams of fat, less than 10 grams of sugar. I found an Alfredo sauce that fit that and I puréed boiled chicken and added a little sauce and water to make it moist like baby food. It was good.
  9. Third times the charm right? Best of luck! Hope everything goes with plan this time around! Keep us posted!!!
  10. I have a YouTube channel. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xvWFNVrVzFI This is my most recent video
  11. I'm a little ahead of the game but I love the chart. It keeps my expectations in check. I'm 13 days out and I've lost 19 pounds. My weight was 235 on surgery day. (I was 257 when I started my program)
  12. Trust me it's so normal. That was me. I'm 13 days out and I still have to nap a few times a day. If I'm out more than a couple hours I'm exhausted.
  13. I was told wait at least two weeks and only do what's comfortable.
  14. I've been in a long distance relationship (I'm in Minnesota and he's in Colorado) for over two years. It's the strongest relationship I have ever had and I wouldn't trade this for the world. It definitely takes a lot of work, money, and sacrifice but if it's the RIGHT person it's worth it. Distance will either make you or break you. Like previously said it takes a lot of commitment, trust, and communication. You also have to have a really strong sense of independence. Since you can't have a partner always around, you have to keep yourself busy and constantly work on you. I would give it a shot. It takes a huge leap of faith but it will be worth it if it's the right person.
  15. I'm 12 days post op and I was wondering when everyone else started going to the gym. Before surgery I use to workout all the time (every other day). I lifted weights and did cardio. So my desire for the gym is through the roof right now. However, I've had a slower recovery and I know that if I went, I probably wouldn't last too long. I have no weight restrictions anymore but I know well enough not to go back and try to squat the 150 pounds I could before surgery. So when did people go back to the gym and what exercises did they start with first? Obviously my surgery and my health come first so I'm willing to wait. My surgeon just said when you feel ready.
  16. That's what Tricare did to me. I was just over 100 pounds overweight. They put me on the 6-month diet and as soon as I lost to 99 pounds overweight they said I didn't qualify for the surgery. But if I hadn't lost any weight, they said I wouldn't have qualified because I had to show I could lose weight. I ended up self-paying for the band back in 2007 (didn't work) and now thankfully my insurance has approved me for a revision. I can my own insurance through my job now and don't have to rely on my husband's Tricare. It was an awful experience. I had tricare and they didn't do that to me? I didn't have to do 6 months either. I did 4 and was approved.
  17. I'm 22 and I'm 10 days post op! I started the process when I was 21 and so far there are NO regrets about doing this young. I already feel like I have my life back!
  18. All day everyday. Just gas. I think it feels good.
  19. It's just a regular paint canvas I found in a two pack that was cheap at a craft store. Picked a pain color that matched my room. Painted it. Then found scrap poking flowers and stuff that matched my room theme. Then took a white paint pen and ruler and spent forever writing all the numbers. The other half of it is under my bed. It goes down to my goal weight of 135. I'll find it tomorrow and post a pic of the other half.
  20. So I'm almost 9 days post op! And up until today it has been really rough. Mainly emotionally rough. I cried all the time. I still am very emotional. But when I weighed myself today and saw 222.5 I was so happy. I've lost 35 pound since I started this journey. 13 has been since surgery. The shirt in my picture use to be snug. Now it's huge! So I had to tie it up to wear it! But this was a huge confidence booster! I didn't have any pain meds. No major pain like I have been having. Puréed food went down well. I didn't do so hot on protein shakes but Ima work on that tomorrow for sure. I never really felt full with the liquids. Even after surgery. But I feel fullness now that I'm on purée I can definitely feel it! Just wanted to give an update! And say thank you for all the support! Also to those who have recently had wls, if it seems terrible, it gets better. I'm not 100% but I'm better than I have been.
  21. I did what you did. I constantly called lol. Then one day they told me I was approved and they through a big ole BUT at the end of the good news. Apparently my approval was sent in the mail. And they couldn't schedule my surgery until my hospital had a letter of approval. And that took longer than the approval itself. But trust me. Once the wait is over it's worth it. I can't believe I'm a week post op already. I thought it was forever and now I feel like the 7-8 month process went by so fast! Best of luck!!!
  22. I'm a week out as of today and there is NO WAY i could go back to my job right now. I'm on my feet lifting and moving all day at my job. Right now I can barely walk half an hour without getting dizzy or light headed.
  23. That comment from a friend would've really and pissed me off....BIG TIME!!! That was supposed to be a friend. My best friend and my family were initially the only people I planned on telling. When I told my best friend she said "well I don't think it's fair that people get surgery to be skinny. Now I'm gonna be the fat girl of us two"..... Ummmmmm what? Guess who isn't my best friend anymore. And this also played a role in why I decided to be open about my surgery. I needed the support and the people I wanted it from weren't supportive and the people who I never imagined would support me have been there the most. Crazy. You learn who your friends are in this insane journey.
  24. So update: I'm one week post op today and I weigh 224.5. So 10.5 pound loss in a week. I need to start moving more. I just cramp up really bad after a bit. I'm happy about how fast I'm losing because I really wasn't expecting this since i started at a smaller bmi. I start purée foods tomorrow and switch to only eating three times a day with protein shakes in between. It's going to be interesting to see how this effects my rate of weight loss.
