Am I doing this right??? Restriction question.
I think I am restricted and have just been doing things wrong. Today I drank a Protein shake for Breakfast and got the whole thing down (16 oz). Drank 20 oz Water bottle, waited 30 minutes and then sat down to eat Wendy's Chili. Ate very slowly and was full with only half of the serving. I am really anxious about the ease of things going thru the band. If I am "restricted" and can still get so much down, I am in trouble.

Aaaggghhh!!! My Port!!!
My port area still hurts. I think it is normal. From what I have read that is the area that takes the longest to heal. If it is sticking out I would ask the doctor. It may just be swelling, but it does not hurt to ask. Hope your pain meds/ Tylenol help.

June 2006 Band Crew
I put a thread on here about the tummy growling. Everyone says it is normal and to get used to it. Our tummy thinks it needs more, because we have been giving it more for years. For nausea, I have been using phenagren when it gets really bad. I drink milk to settle an empty tummy. The port pain is normal. We have a device in there that our body is not used to. It will take more time to heal on that side since we have it stitched in and such. Most people say it will take 3+ weeks. Mine still hurts and I am almost a month out. So that is normal. Don't worry June Bugs! We are all "normal". Too bad our definition of normal is: Sore, starving, and waiting for a fill!

Am I doing this right??? Restriction question.
Banded June 5th, on Soft Foods now. Wanting to stay low carb, but it is really hard. Have been eating canned Soups, Jello pudding (sugar free), SF ice cream, mashed potatoes, etc... eggs do not work. I have not lost any weight in the past two weeks. Today I made tuna with mayo. Ate three bites and felt "restricted" so I stopped. Tonight I ate a can of Soup and got the whole can of Progresso down with no problem. My guess is I am restricted if I eat the hard foods and skip the liquids. Really tempted to do the tuna/chicken salad for a few days to see if I am restricted, but want to know quantities. So basically, 1/2 cup or under? If I am restricted, what is the limit on soups and stuff? I can literally eat a ton of soup/ice cream with no restricted feeling at all. I know that is wrong, :help:

Whats With The Hicups!!
Right after my surgery I would get ONE hiccup and then it would stop. Read somewhere it is because they stitch things to the diaphram so it starts to spasm when we eat. Mine went away about 3 weeks post op.

June 2006 Band Crew
Leila: That is so true. I still wonder how I will know if I need a fill on the 11th? I am not suppose to eat solids until after that. They are going to do it under floro so they can tell that I guess. Fills should be a huge topic for July! Can not wait for mine. Hoping that it will feel kind of like what it did when I was swollen. I couldn't eat much then... even liquids.

June 2006 Band Crew
Wow. I can't believe the month is almost over. Do we know officially how many June Bandsters we have? Bet it is way over 50. So glad everyone is doing well. I am still on mushies, but have cheated a bit testing things out. I can eat chips if I chew them to mush, and have tried a pop tart. But pizza is the kiss of death. Now, I know these things are not good for me, but thought they would be easier to chew, chew, chew than bread or other things, and I stop and wait. Still can not do eggs. I can still eat a can of Soup at a time, so I am ready for my fill. July 11th will come soon enough. Then I hope the scale will start moving again. Good luck to all of the June Bandster Babies! And keep up the good fight!

Bye-bye Star!
I think she is sick. Literally. She looks rather ill, and has not been herself since the weight loss. My interpretation of herself is happy and joking around. She just seems so sad now. But who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

Do you ever forget you're banded?
I forgot this morning and took a bite of my son's cold pizza. Talk about pain. I am not even out of the mushie stage yet and don't know what on Earth I was thinking. Swallowed and everything before I remembered.

Hernia surgery is MUCH WORSE than Lapband!
Woke up this morning feeling a bit better. Took a shower and found another incision. That makes SEVEN total. No wonder I feel like I have been run over and then some. Can actually get out of the recliner by myself today. But don't think I will be running any races... Thanks for the happy thoughts!

Hernia surgery is MUCH WORSE than Lapband!
Well I made it thru the night. It was a rough one though. Still have a hard time standing up. Six holes in my gut hurt so much worse than the ones up top. My hubby made a point this morning about the whole thing. Said I was still hurting from the lap band (port site) and then this on top of it just makes it that much worse. Having three surgeries in three months is a lot. If we could have seperated it out a little more it might not have been so bad. But I needed to get it done this month to be ready for the start of school. Good thing this doctor was not skimpy on the good stuff. I have a pint of codeine, with one refill. So I should be ok. Might be a druggie by the end of the summer, but should make it thru... Robyn: I sure wish you luck. Since your hernia is up top (I assume) it should be much easier. Like I said I would have a lap band any day compared to this.

FREE Senseo Coffee Maker!
I love my Senseo coffee pot. I am the only one that drinks coffee in my house, so it is perfect for me! Hope everyone else likes theirs too!

Hernia surgery is MUCH WORSE than Lapband!
OMG, I am home after my hernia surgery this morning. SIX incisions, and PAIN, PAIN, PAIN!!! I only had to drive/ride 15 minutes instead of an hour and a half, and I felt like dying. This is so, so, so, bad. I am typing while under the influence (codeine) and still hurting. I would have a lap band put in any day over this. Feels like I have been stabbed, beaten, run over, and punched again. And that is putting it mildly.:think Even feels worse than my c-section. How is that possible??? So guys/gals if you have ever survived one of these and are worried about being banded... don't be! At least this is my last surgery (I hope).

Success Diet for Bandsters!!
I have thought about taking an appetite suppressant, but I have no clue what I can take with High Blood Pressure. Would not mind trying the diet, but would need some info on what I can take. Any suggestions?

To Booze or Not to Booze
I would be an alcoholic if I could find a drink I like. Irish Creme in my coffee is about all I can stand. Tried so many things and hated them all, so I just stopped trying. Got too expensive to try. Now I just drink tea...

Jack's Harem
Have you seen Jackie Chans First Strike? There is a scene where he is following a girl and he starts singing, "I will follow you, where ever you may go... there isn't an ocean to deep..." etc.... Well lets just say, I go to Jacks name, and go to "find all posts by Jack" all the time singing: "I will follow you, where ever you may go...." But that doesn't make me a stalker does it???:spy:

Low Carb Recipies
Green Chili Pork Soup- Souper Easy.... 1 pack of Country Pork Ribs 1 can of Green Chili Salsa 3 cups of Water Cook in crock pot. Shred the pork ribs and remove bones. Serve with cheese and sour cream. Blends well for mushie stage too. pumpkin Fluff 1 can pumpkin (16 oz, small can) 1 block cream cheese 2 oz whipping cream 1/2 tsp lemon juice Pumpkin Pie Spice to taste Whip cream cheese and cream together until smooth. Stir in pumpkin and spice until fluffy. Serve cold. Beef Roll 2 packs cream cheese 2 packs Budding Beef, diced into small 1/4 inch cubes 1 bunch of green onions, diced small Blend cream cheese, beef and onions together. Put in plastic wrap to form a "roll" or ball, serve chilled with celery or crackers. This is something my family fights over. Egg Wraps 6 eggs 3 oz parmesan cheese Blend together. Pour into cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Cook for 10 minutes at 325. (Or until browning) Cut into four pieces. Makes a great low carb wrap for sandwiches/rollups. You can add other stuff too like garlic and rosemary just to give it a little more kick. The cheese adds as a binder, so don't try it without it. (I did and it did not work well.)

What R We Eating
Here is my list for today. Wanting approval, but may deserve a beating... Breakfast: 2 bites egg Lunch: Wendys Frosty and Small Chili Snack: Baked Potato Chips- Chewed really well Dinner: Small Wendys chili, and a half cup of green chili pork Soup Snack: Low carb ice cream (Hey I got the low carb in here somewhere today) Drank: 40 oz Water and 36 oz of peach tea. Wow, I did horrible today, no wonder I am not dropping any weight. But now I have confessed and will do better tomorrow. Really think I am going to do better when I move to solid foods. Those eggs sat on my chest like a ton of bricks. Everything else just goes thru so smoothly. Carbs are the devil...

Low Carb Mushies?
I went out and bought low carb ice cream from Braums. Tastes soooooo good! I just have to watch portions.

I know we are all different but...
My port side is still hurting too. Tried to clean the bath tub tonight and ended up stopping half way thru to get some Tylenol. Guess it is normal for some of us "odd balls". But at least I get out of cleaning the bath tub for a while.

New Teaching Job!! What would you do???
Thank you MouseCrazy. I could not believe that my little district was given almost 10 MILLION dollars to run, but they never seem to have enough money for things. But somehow they manage to give Administration a hefty raise every year. HMMMMM.... I do wish more parents would become involved. We seem to lose them at the HS level. Honestly at open house I counted myself lucky to see 10 parents, and that is sad.

Video of Lap Band Surgery
Neat video. Now I know why my port side hurts so much. That was a huge instrument!

New Teaching Job!! What would you do???
I had thought about writing a letter to the school board/etc, but don't want to seem like a "bad apple". Don't want to burn any bridges either, because you never know what may happen (I may want to go back). It is sad that TAKS determines what is important. My former principal once told me to make sure I brought all of the subject areas into my Art class. I told him we have the other classes because of Art. Before there was a written language there were pictures on walls. Language is an ART, geometric shapes are ART (or can be), Music is ART, we know our history because of ART. It really upsets me that they think Art is less important. There have been studies on higher order thinking skills (which we try to develop in our students) and those with more skills are experienced in Art and Music. Wonder when they will come out with a TAKS test for Art? I don't think they have it because creativity can not be adequately measured. But that is just one Art teachers opinion.:biggrin1:
