Jesusislove got a reaction from Alfie in Can You Eat Salad, Vegetables And Fruits With The Gastric Sleeve?
Hi, thanks for all the replies, I am going to get the sleeve, just hoping I can get it down at the same time, and don't have to do two surgeries. Appreciate all the comments, and they were very encouraging.

Hi, I am a newbie on the boards, and I had lapband surgery in 4/08, and I am having issues with the band. I lost about 70 pounds on the band, but the choking at night and acid reflux has caused me to want to take it out. I can not lose weight right because either it is too tight or too lose. I am tired fo this, I need rest. I will have the band removed, but was thinking of getting the gastric sleeve done while they are in there. On the band I could bearly eat salad, hardly any real veggies, and no fruit. Also, I could bearly eat eggs on the band. Can you eat "real healthy" foods with the gastric sleeves, like broccoli, cabbage, real food? I love healthy foods, just could not eat many of them on the band. A 1/4 of a cup is fine for me, I just want to eat some squash, and okra.

To me nothing like labor pains, I would take a gastric sleeve op anyday. It did not hurt as much as I thought it would, and I am a big cry baby.

I had an appointment with my doctor today. 10 weeks post op, started at 230, today I was 188. I am continuing to eat good. It is hard firguring out what to eat at times, but I am steadily growing and making healthy choices. My goal is 170, I expect to be there soon. I am pretty thin at 170 (8-10) in sizes, 5'9" Looking forward to staying healthy.

Jesusislove got a reaction from BenisaMartim4 in I Rarely Get On The Scale; Clothes Falling Off
I rarely get on the scale, because the scale can be discouraging. However, my clothes are falling off of me, that is how I know that I am losing. I bought a pair of capri pants in a size 12, and they fit for minute. I told myself, I know that this 12 is not loose, and they sure were, on my way to a size 10. Wow, I am shrinking, and I am excited. Went walking about 2 miles today and it felt great! I don't know whether I am stalling or not, I stay off the scale until I know that I have went down a size.

Good for you Cali. I've gone from 18's fitting tightly to 14's fitting loosely. I can't wait to be in a 12!

I don't do the scale much either because the scale had always been my biggest trigger. I'm 13 days post op and have weighed myself once- at 8 days postop - I'm gonna wait until next week cuz I have my monthly visitor and I feel so bloated and I don't want to get discouraged.

I've been sleeved for almost 2 months and I love it. My sleeve has helped me finally be and feel in control of my weight and health. Since I had this procedure done, I am more motivated to get up and exercise at least 4 to 5 times a week, I started with walking right after surgery and everyday up til my 6 weeks out and now I swim, I do strength training, zoomba and I still walk alot. It does take making some serious adjustments, as far as changing eating and drinking habits, but it is well worth this for me. My sleeve, has become my 3rd best friend, ( God 1st, & hubby 2nd). No regrets at all!!! I was a snug size 16 on March 1 and now I'm in a comfortable 12, thanks to my self and my sleeve partnership!

I buy one pair of jeanes every other size. That is my rule as my 22 fell off me while walking around the house if I didn't pull them up every 5 seconds so I went to ther store and bought 2 pairs of jeans one 18 and one 16 (they were buy one get one 50% off). I want to look good when I go out of the house to family events or friends houses.

Check your local thrift stores/goodwill. We have multiple goodwill locations in San Antonio, but one of the locations has 25cent Saturday. Everything in the store is 25cents. Now that one location gets pretty busy, but for 3 bucks you can get 12 items. I didn't know about this until just recently. I went there 3 weeks ago and walked out carrying over 50 items. My husband went with me to help carry and we got plenty for my current size plus 2 sizes down, (being optimistic lol).

There is a forum here called Clothing Exchange. I believe they send each other clothes that are too big for them now, they just keep each other posted and that way they dont spend money buying clothes that are only going to last them a couple of months. You should look into it

I did not want to buy clothes that i would shrink out of. So i went to good will, savers and thrift stores. I am 4 months out and i do have to buy a swim suit that is going to be my first new purchase.

I tried to hold off as much as I could too. I was able to use some things I had saved from when I was down in the past! That really helped. So I didn't have to really buy anything for the first 4 months or so. However, because my job demands I look put together, I do have to juggle clothes a bit. I try to "make do" with one good pair of pants and looser tops. Then I may replace a couple of tops so they're more fitted while my pants are looser... you get the idea. I did have to get a new jacket though. But I am just eeking out the last few weeks since I will not be able to wear it next season - it's huge :-) My weight loss has really slowed down now since I am closer to goal. But, I still want to hold off on buying too much or spending money until I know I am stable. It's a challenge! Albeit, a good one to have, not complaining!!! But indeed a big pain, especially if you're not really a shopper -- I'm not.

I have decided not to get it. I was scheduled for tomorrow. Also, let's say that everything goes fine and there are no leaks with mine..they are still removing my body part that produces the most grehlin in the body which is responsible for memory. I dont want to hear years from now a study showing where alzheimers is typical in sleeve patients. Maybe i am exaggerating, but i am just gonna try to eat right and exercise. I do wish everyone else that is going through with this, much success and no complications.

Awesome! Congrats on your success! It should be a great feeling to see dramatic inch losses in just 6 weeks!
I did not measure inches pre-op, so I dont have the 'correct' measurements. I just felt my dresses getting looser. At three months post op I can definitely see the changes in my appearance now. But I have 18 more pounds to lose to get to onderland.

That is so great! Proud for you. I wish I could get to where I could eat. I have around 2-300 cal a day. I am dropping weight like crazy, but I am worried about my health. Maybe I'll catch on soon. I am two months out.

That is fantastic! I am 5 weeks out and been in a bit of a stall myself, I'm having a hard time tolerating fluids and foods... Only eating 500 cal/day... I'm going to use your example and try to up to 7-800 and see if I can break the stall! Again, congrats on your success!!

Jesusislove reacted to MyGastricSleeveLife in Considering Vsg Surgery - Wondering How Common Revisions Are Down The Road?
I read someone's comment on another site that said she had to have a re-staple because she hadn't lost enough in 12 months and had stretched her sleeve too much - that's the one comment that really got me thinking about the revisions.
Thanks for the vote of confidence! From what I've read here, the nervousness is normal. I've tried a bazillion other things for the last 12 years and haven't lost more than 30-40 lbs total before going back up again. My kids have never seen me thin since the first time I started gaining was when I was pregnant with our first daughter. I gained 75 lbs then & never lost it & then gained more & more. Now I have about 130 lbs to lose to get to where I'd really like to be. I know I have a food addiction & I know this will be a long road. I sometimes fear that I won't succeed just like all the other things I've tried. However, from everything I've read, I know this is a much more drastic change than anything I've tried before. I wish I could just eat 4 oz of food on my own without surgery, but I know that's not gonna happen! Besides, if I spend this much on a surgery, I dang well better make it work!

Hi, everyone. I have been stuck on 205 for about two weeks. I wasnt worried, because I read about stalls. My inches are dramatic though, I look smaller than the weight. I got on the scale this morning, 198, I am in onderland. I tried the gym last week and was sore than sore itself. This week I will try agin, proabably not basketball or racquet ball with the kids though. I am fitting 12s, was in sizes 14w/16 depending on how they were made. One thing I noticed was that once I was able to eat more the weight started to come off, I eat about 800-900 calories. I am feeling great. I will try to add a picture.
