  7. Not sure if this is the best way to start a surgery date post, but we can try. Copy/Paste the ENTIRE LAST post into your post, add your name next to the date of your surgery and repost it for the next person. 8. I think all you need is a letter from her saying that you have been treated by her and that she believes you would be a good candidate for surgery. I'm not sure though....seems like evey insurance requires something different and I'm not familiar with HealthNet.
  9. Save your money...sounds like you have a LAP Man...so why bother. If he is as persuasive as you say, then he should be able to get you to diet...as well as maintain your weight whenever he is around. The Lapband really isnt a short term solution. Its meant to help people for the rest of their life.
  10. Hey Andre, When I first found this website I spent hours researching everything about the lapband. You will learn a lot on this site that will help you decide if lapband surgery is right for you. And yes, it is great to have a place that reminds you that you are not alone.
  11. I can relate and I understand exactly how you feel. You are scared of failure and are probably hard on yourself for mistakes you have made in the past. Whenever I start to feel like you I have to stop and remember that there really is no option (for me anyways). I have an eating disorder that I often can not control. I then try to re-focus my energy on how to SOLVE the addiction/disorder in a way that will be successful. The Lapband surgery's long term effectivness is statistically superior to non surgical weight loss programs. Even if you "fail" at the Lapband at least you made a rational attempt to fix your problem. I'm not banded yet either and my emotions have been all over the place. I can sort of understand how you might be worried about getthing thin...but to be honest it's more about how others will react to you once you are thin. I wouldn't worry about this because there is nothing you can really do that will change how people react to the "new you". Anyway, I hope your anxiety will fade away. If you are like me, the anxiety will come and go a few more times. I hope it all works out for you (and me). :rolleyes2:
  12. Great post....too funny! I think I'd have ended up turning to the black market to get my fix. Of course, starting an enterprise in the new underground economy would be tempting too....think of the money to be made...
  13. I May be a Marcher too....don't know yet, but I sure hope so!
  14. Anybody know about The Oregon Bariatric Center in Eugene, OR? They seem like they know what they are doing, but I would love to hear from anyone who has had experience with them. Thanks so much. .
  15. I'm gonna look for some of the brands mentioned here at the store tonight! Thanks for all the suggestions! .
  16. Congrats bandlady! You must be so happy and relieved!
  17. I haven't stepped on a scale in months. I don't own one because I have been in a long state of denial about my weight. I need to face the music. I had to approximate my weight on my surgical application and now I'm worried it will mess up the process toward surgery. I need a scale that is easy to read, has a wide platform, and a large weight capacity. Any suggestions on make or model would be greatly appreciated. I
  18. I'm very excited to be posting on here for the first time. I have read many wonderful stories on this site ever since I have considered getting the lapband. I have decided to have the surgery and am lucky to have insurance that will pay 90%. I am in the very preliminary stages. I will attend a seminar next week, and have already filled out the application and contacted my insurance about coverage. I have no doubt I will get approved as I am currently at least a 50 BMI. I've only scratched the surface and have so much to learn about the lapband process. I have done a fair bit of research and I hope to be able to use this website for information and support. I am recently divorced with only my parents and a few close friends to talk with. Only one friend truly understands what it means to be obese....leaving me with a very small support group. I'm excited to be going on this journey. I have been overweight most of my life. I have been on serveral diets but few worked. I was able to lose over 100 lbs on three of the successful diets. Once when I was a teenager on a liquid diet, the next while in college on a non fat diet, and the third during grad school by using atkins and phen fen. Each time I lost weight was a journey. Each time I eventually gained the weight again. I hope this journey will be different. I am ready to sacrifice in order to be healthy. I have read so much here, yet still feel as if I don't know what to expect. I hope to break my addiction to food and use the band as a tool to focus on my disease. It was a relief to find this website. I hope to contribute to this forum by sharing my journey and learning from others.
