GirthyGirl reacted to shawnak911 in What am I thinking?!
Congratulations on your weight loss. If you can master this new lifestyle you can do anything. Go for it! I don't know anyone who has regretted it. Good luck and hoping for a smooth recovery.

I'm in St. Louis, MO and my surgeon is Dr. Herluf Lund he works out of St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery in Chesterfield, MO. I'm not sure about the rules on posting links but if you Google 'Dr Lund St. Louis' he'll come right up. He is absolutely wonderful, bedside manner so amazing and very very funny just when you need him to be!

Here's another good one:
Giving up on a goal because of a setback is like slashing your other 3 tires because you got a flat.

GirthyGirl got a reaction from bunnies26 in January or February 2016 Sleevers?
My surgery was January 27, 2016. Can't believe it's been eleven months! I haven't had my December weigh in yet but as of November I was down 105 pounds. Finally hit onederland! Last time I saw that was in the mid 80's.
I am about twenty pounds away from goal. I am having a few plastic surgery procedures so I estimate taking off another 15-20 pounds with that.

GirthyGirl got a reaction from VictoriaCa in Pet peeve: extra skin.
I will own up to being vain, too. I'm 48 years old and the last time I was skinny was in 1975. When I would talk to people about my upcoming VSG I would always say my biggest fears were ending up with a turkey neck and looking old. My fears have somewhat been realized.
I also knew going in I was going to have a lot of loose skin. And I do. I have met with a PS to discuss the three procedures I want done. And they are completely so I can look better. I freely admit it. But never would I have let those concerns hold me back from being sleeved. I went from having a fasting glucose level of 167 to a non fasting level of 78. That alone was worth it.

GirthyGirl got a reaction from IveGotThePower in Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....
I guess I've been lucky. I haven't had one rude or insensitive comment and I tell everyone and their brother. Most people have just been curious about what my life is like now.

GirthyGirl got a reaction from TheRealMeIsHere! in Success stories who had a BMI of 50+?
My BMI was 52 when I started my liquid diet. That was on 01/13/16. Last time I weighed, 08/27/16, I was 37.3. I still have a long way to go but I am thrilled by that number!

GirthyGirl reacted to Bobbieswife in Did you tell people you were considering weight loss surgery?
I'm open to telling whomever and don't care who knows. From my experience, a lot of people I know that has/had bariatric surgery is ashamed or afraid to tell people. This surgery will improve my health, just like any other surgery will help a medical condition. I don't care who knows I'm on a new path to getting healthy!

GirthyGirl got a reaction from gina171 in Did you tell people you were considering weight loss surgery?
I told everyone I see on a regular basis. My coworkers I sent a message the day before my surgery telling them I was having the sleeve. I would have told them sooner but my clearance didn't come through 'til the day before. I don't really care if people judge my decision so I have no problem being upfront about the procedure.
