I was also sleeved on 6/22 and am going through the SAME thing! Such chest pain! Dr said start puréed food today- made it even worse. I was so excited for this day because I'm having a very hard time getting my Protein in- The thought of another shake makes me sick.

Crossed the border it was so easy took all of 5 min to get to the Marriot! Sam picked us up and was Very sweet and well dressed A nice guy who even brought his wife with him who was a sweet heart also! The Marriot is super nice! Everyone is so sweet! They have live music also at the little bar restaurant downstairs in the lobby! The room is nice and we just had room service delivered to us which consisted of bottle Water, broth, and melon infused Popsicles! That's included with the package Ns I didn't know about it. A very pleasant surprise! Sasha called as soon as we got here and gave us instructions to shuttle to hospital at 645 in the morning to meet her at the hospital. I'm blown away so far everything is amazing!

I'm not in much pain now at 24 hours after surgery. I feel sore like I did a ab workout. I have some stabbing type pains when I get up and down out of bed but they are more irritating than painful.
I had horrible pain last night. Gas pain and spasms in my stomach and nausea I threw up twice it was tough. But this morning im like another person! No nausea and I'm keeping liquids down and walking I feel good enough to go home!!
With the gas pain laying in bed made it worse so as the pain got worse and worse I decided I had to walk so I did and it helped so much!!! If you have gas pain and I hope you don't you HAVE to walk even if it's the hardest thing in the world! Which to me it was hard bc I was nauseated and a lil dizzy.
My mom however had no gas pain or nausea. She is doing awesome only some slight pain today getting up and down but she also feels good enough to go home!

Feeling way better! Gas pain is minimal I'm just a little sore, but it's tolerable. I'm keeping down ice now and some blue liquids they gave to test for leaks. Which I was worried about since I couldn't tolerate ice last night and dry heaved my guts up! Other than the soreness I feel 100% no nausea just a little sleepy but feeling great!

August 7th, 2015 here! I'm definitely getting nervous! Congratulations to my fellow August Sleevers! We can do this!

You're very lucky! One night in the hospital and having our patients walking around with drains was a dealbreaker for us.
I received an email this morning from one of the coordinators that worked for Dr. Almanza for many many years (I'm quoting her!)
"He is scum of the earth. Doesn't care a thing about the patients. Only money. I went to X (redacted for privacy purposes) and almanza about the deaths and critically ill patients and they didn't care. 15-21 surgeries a day they're doing over there. Sometimes 2 at a time in the OR it's messed up over there."

What about Dr. Sergio Quinones? Why don't you guys support him?

We absolutely inspect every facility we use prior to sending our members there. Dr. Almanza and his staff made promises to make some major but very necessary changes and he didn't keep up to his end of the bargain. If we can't trust a surgeon to keep their word, we most definitely can't trust him with our members lives!

I wasn't aware that there was any official relationship between BariatricPal and Dr. Almanza, but I am glad of this change. I know there are many patients of Dr. Almanza on these forums who have had good experiences and been very successful with their surgeries, but the percentages of complications and negative stories have been concerning.

Sorry to hear that. I am self pay. I have 2 consultations tomorrow. I am hoping to get scheduled for mid-late August because I will have to be back at work before Labor Day. If I cannot get scheduled then, I will probably have to wait till November. I don't really want to wait another day.

I'm scheduled for surgery August 25th. I was origanally scheduled for July 27th but my insurance was all messed up.

Hi i'm scheduled in for surgery on 10th august. My surgeon said that i only have to do a 2 week low fat diet pre op, feel a bit mixed about it to be honest, bit like im cheating, when most ppl say they usually have to do a liquid diet. I was gearing myself up to do it to be honest, and asked him if my liver really will shrink enough for it to be safe enough for surgery, his reponse was absolutley. So i think im going to follow what he says however im going to swap 1 meal a day with a Protein Shake. It cant hurt can it really and i need to get used to drinking them for after the op anyway. Anyway a big GOOD LUCK coming your way for all the august sleevers including myself. Lol .and also to everyone else yet to be sleeved. Exciting times !!!

I got my date - August 5th - 8:00am. I'm so excited now that it's finally scheduled. Still some tests to do but the time off is scheduled with the employer and short-term medical leave applied for. Family flying in to take me there and stay with me for a while after. It's all coming together.
Anyone else in August?
