favorite foods you can no longer eat
If I somehow offended someone with picture, I apologize. I was just doing for giggles and right now, I couldn't even fathom eating a slice of pizza. The thought makes me queasy.

My first BP/Sliming
Well, I was banded 1/10/08 and I never felt the restriction until about 45 minutes ago. For lunch, I ate a half of a turkey sandwich on whole wheat pita just as I had done all week, but today I ate too fast with bites that were too big. I almost finished the half and I started getting nauseous. Almost immediately, I began to slime profusely and then the PB's started. When you guys say it's like a golf ball is stuck in your chest you ain't kidding. It hurt! I PB'ed for about 15 minutes until I felt better. Until today, I thought I could eat anything, anyway, at least until I get my first fill. Lesson learned!

- I am so darned determined!
Even though I haven't been banded long and feel no restriction, there is no way I'm going to let this weight thing beat me any more. If I have to live on 600 calories and drink gallons of Water until my weight gets back down- so be it. My rant for the day. :frown:- Dr Phil on right now talking about bariatric surgeries

Candle, he has. I'm 20 days past my surgery date and on solid foods.- No Restriction!!
Sorry Shortgal. FWIW, I sitting here drinking a protein shake and not chowing down. :rolleyes2:- No Restriction!!
All this is getting me hungry. I'm gonna have a protein shake (hey, it beats going down the block for a slice - or two - of NY pizza). :rolleyes2:- No Restriction!!
I was banded on 01/10/08 and also have no restriction. When I was on liquids, I seemed to have been doing better than on solid foods. Now they want me to eat something like 3 oz of chicken, 2 oz of a carb and 2 oz of a vegetable for lunch/dinner. Well, at times during the day I seem to have to fight hunger, but I'm trying. Yesterday I had a Protein bar for breakfast, a Protein shake for a snack, a low cal/fat turkey pita sandwich for lunch (I don't know what it weighed but it was 185 calories & 1.5 grams of fat). dinner time I cheated a bit with about 4 oz of chicken breast, 4 oz of macaroni salad, and about 3 oz of steamed vegetables. I had a evening snack of about 1/2 cup of dry roasted soybean. It's more than I was told to eat, but it's dramatically less than I used to and it's about the best I can do until I get a fill.- Banded with the possibility of a career in law enforcement
I'm in law enforcement and was recently banded. After 6 weeks post-op, I'll be considered "fit" for duty. A band should not impede you from entering law enforcement provided you meet height/weight requirements (which I did when I was hired - I gained a large amount of my excess weight after a nasty injury).- What horrible things have Dr.s said to you?
You should have reported him to hospital administrators. That type of can be expected from some uneducated jerk, but not a doctor! "House" is a TV show, not the real thing!- Unjury unflavored in my coffee for added protein??
I have yet to try the unjury unflavored powder, but I hear it is very good. Since I'm not a Breakfast person, I'd like to put a scoop in my Starbucks "Skinny" mocha. My questions are: Is the Unjury flavorless really flavorless? Will it ruin the taste of my $5 drink? Thanks!- Skinny Latte from Starbucks - 10g Protein!
I'm psyched! A grande mocha has only 130 calories and about 12 grams of Protein. Guess where I'm going tomorrow!- Skinny Latte from Starbucks - 10g Protein!
I wonder if they have it in mocha.- For Just Us Guys
Steve, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I do see it. I didn't do anything to prepare me for my pre-op diet other than to eat some things that I knew I wouldn't be eating for a long, long time (like steak, pizza , etc.) and I was fine throughout pre-op. If your doctor didn't give you any instructions, then enjoy your food (in moderation) before you are restricted from many of your favorite foods.- Will pills get stuck?
I haven't had a fill, but I've been taking pills regularly, including 2 extra strength Tylenols at a time. No problems at all.- For Just Us Guys
Well today is day six post op and I am feeling considerably better pain-wise. I drink my four protein drinks a day with 2 other full liquid meals and I am probably nauseous more than I am hungry. Yesterday I was really weak and couldn't even think too clearly. I don't know what caused that. But today is a whole another world. John and Sandy, thanks for words of encouragement and your tips. I bought a couple of cases of Fruit 2O water and I've been downing that the past several days. It tastes pretty good and allows me to get my water intake, although I tell you it's still hard to drink that much of anything! The good news? The weight/inches are falling off. I think I've lost about 6-8 pounds in the last 6 days.- New Band Update (REALIZE)
NukeChik, my doctor is probably about as cautious as they get. Both he and the hospital's dietitian gave me the same instructions. I'm guessing that the Realize band allows for quicker healing and transition.- For Just Us Guys
Sandy, I've been very good about getting my protein in, but it's been a struggle to drink that much water. I feel like I'm gonna explode!- For Just Us Guys
For all you future banders, it's been four days since my surgery. The pain has diminished quite a bit, but I get frequent headaches despite taking Tylenol. The doctor's office thought it may be because I'm not taking in enough fluids - I'm not - I'm taking in 40 ounces instead of 64. Even though I watched some Food Network shows, I only get brief hunger pangs that quickly go away. I have too much invested into this whole thing to blow it by cheating.- New Band Update (REALIZE)
What I can tell you about the Realize band is that you go solid foods sooner. Rather than 2 weeks on solid liquids and 2 weeks on soft foods, I spend one week on each before transitioning to a normal diet.- What is sliming?
Does the stuck piece of food readily come out (in the bathroom) or do you somehow need to induce it?- BCBS FEP Co-Pays
If you check the BC/BS OPM approved plan benefit book, the appeals procedures are laid out in section 8.- For Just Us Guys
I'm back! Got out of the hospital yesterday and am as sore as hell. They put the "new" Johnson & Johnson band in me and I have six incision sites. Even though I have been through surgery before, I'm not having as easy a time as some posters. Thanks for you good wishes. Good looking nurses? Forget it! I had a witch with an attitude! - I am so darned determined!
