  1. Wow what a great post. I had to have a psych eval. before surgery. the doc was my friend. He said that those closest to you will be your biggest critics. My sisters are the ones. I was self pay and they make the comments that if they had the money they could be skinny too. I took out a loan to do this. The doc also said they would be jealous. Yep they are. I had a BMI of 35+ had asthma, HBP (3 medication), IBS, arthritis, you name it I had ot or was going to get it. Now I am off all medicines except my BCP and allergiy medicine. I coud really care less about what other think now. My girlfriends have been most receptive except when they want to go out to eat and I don't eat or take 2 bites and am done. My mom has been tremendous, she saw me following in her footsteps and wanted it to stop. My DH has been superb and loves it. he is buying me clothes and bikinis. So if people don't like it who cares as long as you love yourself it should not matter, regardless of your reasons for doing it. Just say whatever and go buy another outfit or run around in a bikini no matter the weather.
  2. My first goal was to get to onederland then my next was 175lbs. I am now 169. I really don't have a clue where I really want to be. My Dr. wants me at 147. Only about 20 mor lbs to go. But I think I'm good now. :sneaky: I don't know!
  3. You own 10 pairs of jeans all in different sizes
  4. I am one year and one month post-op. My port hurts too after eating. Usually when I eat too much. It usually goes way after a short time. The doctor does not know what causes it, but as long as it goes away my doc is fine with it. It does not happen all the time just when I eat too much.

  6. Wow what a post... Fanny that orange really compliments your skin tone, it makes your face so much brighter you might want to try a version of that color. You look fabulous. Now what does NSV mean??? I am not real computer literate and don't know to many of the letter meanings. Okay so, My summer fun will be in size 10 shorts WOW!!!!! i could not beleive they fit when I tried them on. I was Happy dancing in the fitting room. (only my bottoms are 10 my top is still a 16 due to the twin sisters not going anywhere) I am going to go buy a bikini tomorrow for my Cancun vacation my husband is treating me to in 10 days. Scars or not I'm wearing it.
  7. I got a tatoo before my lapband and my port is right next to it. My surgeon uses it as a guide to find my port every time, Since Surgery, I said I was going to get another one and I did in May while I was in Vegas. I got the Chinese symbol for "Beautiful" on my back between my shoulder blades.
  8. Yeah I want to know that too...:wink2:
  9. Refreid Beans with cheese metled on top was great for me. I loved it. I went to Taco Bell when I was not at home and got the Pintos and CHeese(Same thing) Oh it was heaven after eating a bunch of oatmeal and yogart. Also i overcooked my mac and cheese so the noodles were a little mushie, and it qualified. Oh I remember the first night I ate that. it was liek eating a gourmet (sp) meal. Good luck don't push it. I think my hardest habit to break was just eating to eat. Hungry because I was bored. Now I find other things to do. Don't worry about over eating the first time you do you'll know and never do it again. just take it slow and listen to your body it will tell you when you are full. I had no idea what that felt like until I got the lapband.
  10. Hi all, I was recenlty up to 6.2 ccs and it was too tight. So today I had 0.2 ccs removed today to bring me back to 6 ccs and it has made a huge difference.
  11. Okay so I have a few questions... 1. have you always been heavy? (for as long as he has known you) it could be he is afraid of you losing weight and him losing you. My husband had that issue and we had a long talk. I had to re-assure him I was not going anywhere fat or thin. 2. Has he been to the doctor with you? Does he know about Lapband? I brought all the info home with me and gave it to him to read and made him read it. It also helped that his grown daughter mystep-daughter had it several months before me and he got to see her success and really saw what she went through. Maybe if you make a friend who has had it or meet someone he can talk to, or even encourage him to get on this post and ask questions. 3. Does he know how to cook? Honestly I just learned myself and Love it. even though I can't eat most of what I cook I still do it just because. You might have to teach him how to do some of the basics. 4. How old is your child? If they are old enough they can make a sandwich or something. If not at least keep simple things on hand (mac & cheese, hot dogs, noodles of any kind etc.) to make your child, and if your husband is still dificult he is on his own, at least your child is fed. I am sorry you are having difficulties, but I do agree you need to have a heart to heart talk with him to make sure you two are on the same page. If he is thin or does not struggel with his weight he will appreciate you even more when you lose the excess. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  12. Charles, Good luck with your personal journey. My weight became a real issue when I developed High Blood Pressure and almost had a stoke, as well as asthma. My mother is diabetic and recently went on insulin. That really scared me. I am following in her foot steps ever step of the way. Then my job inlisted a fitness test as a job requirement, and it is mandatory to keep my job (I'm in law enforcement). My job means the world to me and I love it, so after trying everything all the name brand diets on TV and doctor ordered and not losing any weight, I began to look into it. My journy began 5 years ago, a friend had Gastric By-pass and almost died. Just last year I decided to have surgery. I had it December of 2007. I have lost 50lbs and would do it again in a heart beat. I wish I would have had the courage to do it sooner, and not struggle like I had. It finally came down to being employed or not. I take my test next month and am hoping I have no problems. I am hoping the 50lb loss will totally help me. Also, just to add a cavet, my husband is 20 years older then me and healthier then me. Go figure. I had to do it to keep up with him too. I have ahd my share of problems but my benefits out weigh them so much more. I am not a cheerleader, I just consider myself one of the luckyones.
  13. I was too tight recently and just had 1/2 cc removed today. It was just enough to give me some relief. I still have good restirction but I can eat solid food again.
  14. OMG! I was stuck this weekend for the very first time. I eventually threw up. Not what I wanted to do,but I tried everything and nothing helped. I was too tight and had to have some some restriction taken out of my band today; only about a half a cc. but still. Good luck keep us posted on how its going. If it gets too bad or painful call the doctor. I got yelled at today for not calling him over the weekend.
  15. Hi all St. Louisans, I am looking for walkers to motivate me to walk and walk with, after work a couple nights a week. I was thinking we could change it up and meet up at different parks or walking areas to keep it interesting. Anyone interested. I've got to start something. I have done little if any exercising since surgery. I live in the city downtown.
