  1. Any man that would lust after a breast feeding woman's boob is just plain sick. Look at that side of the issue, Patty.
  2. Ask away, Stampergirl. I also have a suggestion. I subscribe to a thread called "I'm here to help". Thread was started by Indiogirl and you can find it under the "Mentor/Buddy" section. You can also PM me if you like.
  3. Hey guys...some ideas from a bargain shopper. I hit goal last October and have been having fun with the shopping. We spent a month in FL so needed all new summer clothes. Did most of it online. Gap/Banana Republic/Old Navy site. I got $7 capris and $5 tshirts. Also found some things on Amazon.com and Macys.com. All for REALLY great prices. I also LOVE TJ Maxx and Ross. You can find some great name brands for a lot less than regular department stores. I, too, need a tall and most of the online stores carry 4 tall which is tough to find in a store. Overstock.com has some nice name brand clothes but find they are a little more expensive than other sites. When I was in the weight loss process, I picked up my tops at WalMart or Target. It got me through until I hit goal. Happy Shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. She's crazier than the lady down the street (where I grew up) that had 15 kids (no multiple births) and had at least 7 of them leashed to a tree at one time. And to think...local authorities let her get away with it!
  5. OK...what the hell kind of screening process does this "baby factory" clinic have? It seems to me that I jumped through many more hoops to get my lap band than this woman did to be implanted. And I do know this....my band will get much better care in it's lifetime than those poor children will. The answer is plain and simple..these children need nurturing and love on a one on one basis each and every day. Every child deserves at least that much. I do not want to judge this woman just on looks or her actions during an interview. But, so difficult not to. Just seeing what I have of this person I would in no way want her in charge of one of my children.
  6. Army wife...I remember being swollen for a few days after a fill. My doc says to do solids following a fill but I took it easy with cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. Didn't want to push it. I never did have trouble with liquids. I would keep an eye on it till tomorrow and give your doc's office a call if you are still having problems. No sense in irritating and causing more havoc. Wishing you luck.
  7. Also akin to the puppy cloning...article was in last week's People magazine. Sooooooooo many animals in shelters to be adopted....Soooooooooooooo many pshyco mom babies to be adopted!
  8. Kat...I think you spoke for many and put out there what most people think of this "so-called" mom. Really don't want to bring God into this...but here goes. God did not "create" those babies. Pschyo Mom and her unethical doc did.
  9. Woohoo...congrats on the weight loss!!!!!!!!! Also, good luck on all of your wedding plans. Sounds like a beautiful dress. You will have to post some wedding photos when all is said and done. As far as the body image issues. It takes awhile for the head to catch up with the body when it comes to weight loss. I am now at/below goal and I am now feeling fine with myself. Just an example: I would automatically head for the "large" woman's section of a dept store and then realize I did not have to shop there anymore. I would go to the "normal" section and feel like I didn't belong there. I actually imagined that people were staring at me and thinking that I didn't belong there. Just try to concentrate on getting rid of those feelings. When you look in the mirror, pick out your good physical qualities. I am 53 yrs old and decided at the beginning of this journey that I would accept my body once I got to goal. I have done that. I have accepted it and not obsessing over a little imperfection here or there. Not imperfect enough for plastic surgery (and don't want to go thru the pain of it all and the expense) so I have no other plan than to just accept me. I noticed that physical changes don't stop with weight loss. My body has changed even after I stopped losing. A little less flab...has tightened up some. Be patient and accepting with yourself...it WILL all come together!
  10. Thanks Cher...pretty sure I can convince a number of people from my subscribed threads to join in.
  11. Hey Cher....quick question...I notice that there is a tentative LB conference in Vegas in October, 2009. Anything set in stone yet???? I plan on attending.
  12. Was owner of two insurance agencies for years...sold a few years ago to come home and help manage farm and side business DH and I own. I also volunteer three days a week at local hospital.
  13. Diva and Army...sounds like you are both not quite at your sweet spot yet. My doc is very conservative with fills and only allows .5 at a time. Just don't get discouraged...you will know when you are there and be able to have better control. Hang in there and keep in touch.
  14. AHHHHHHHH...there are Lap Band Ferries.... I happened to have 6 co-morbidities and ins paid for my surgery. I lucked out in a way. I admire self-payers for finding a way to do what they need to do for themselves. If your credit is shot and you have no means to pay...well...maybe time to work on yourself and what is important. Where there's a will, there's a way.
  15. I was really surprised that I actually had some butt after weight loss. When I was thin years ago I had somewhat of a flat butt and, as Jackie stated, that rack that women get as they gain weight makes the butt look flatter. I now have a rounded rear...think a lot of the shape comes from working out and staying active. The thing I think helped the most to shape my butt is walking 5 miles a day on a pretty good incline on my treadmill.
  16. What I don't get is this preconceived notion that whoever has the band "throws up after every meal". Do you know how many people think that?
  17. Mimieg...trying to break acquired eating habits is really tough but you can do it. You had great success with your weight loss. Try not to compare yourself to a person that has lost more than you in that time period since surgery. We all lose at our own pace. Till you get back to your post band eating habits it might be a good idea to not have "trigger" foods in the house. Get back to the "hard" Protein first and then fruit or veggies. Keep SF Jello, SF popsicles, SF jello, etc. so you can grab something healthy. I love the 100 cal pkgs of Orville R. kettle corn. You feel like you are getting a real treat. You CAN turn this around. Give yourself a new start and come back to the LB board for support!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. It wouldn't be me LOL....usually not quick to judge but Casey's demeanor from the get-go stinks to high heaven.
  19. Bek...don't worry about the end result...work on getting healthy and along with weight loss will come a new found confidence. I am 5'7" (a little shy of that) and started this journey at 249#. I am a little below goal and have a flat tummy and minimal loose skin. I am 53 yrs old and came out of it all just fine. The only thing I notice is a little sagging of the upper thigh. My DH is the only one that sees that and if there ever is a complaint by him........he just won't go there anymore!!!!!! (BTW...he's been very supportive). Hang in there. Do this for you. You have every chance of coming out of this with great results due to your age. Good luck to you!
  20. Hi guys....just started with thread to see if we could get some action from our MIA Junies. Come on...miss you guys. I want to hear from all of you....YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Love my drinks but after banding takes less of them. I love sipping Johnny Walker Black and also order Grey Goose and water. I carry the little Crystal Lite (I like the generic ones better and not so sweet) and dump about 1/2 tube into my drink. Wine makes me stupid for some reason.
  22. There's only 12 bites in a normal sized Hershey bar....you better make that 24 bites cuz you cannot open that second bar without eating the entire thing.
  23. Covering up AND grandstanding....grandma and grandpa love the media coverage and attention to themselves waaaaaaaaay too much. Spent the last month in FL...have followed this case since the onset (was in FL the day the news broke last July). Not too sure about what involvement the brother has but something is fishy with him. I watched the memorial service on tv and, to me, it seemed very melodramatic...most families would want to grieve in private.
  24. Christy...I want a chocolate brother for my lab soooooooo badly. My DH won't allow it....some day my chocolate will just show up at our house@@@@@@@@@@
