Got my samples from Unjury today. Tried the vanilla with orange juice, really good. Bought unsweetened vanilla puddings to try others with too. Also got the Vitamins from them. Yes their huge, but not too awful tasting.

I just got my date Friday afternoon..sept 21st! I started my journey in February. Was hoping for a June date but had to wait three additional months because I had to take a steroid for a bad case of hives. So excited I have a date. Now just waiting for insurance approval and time

Some people are having food funerals...I'm having a boob funeral. I lost 50 lbs 5 years ago, and had sad little saggy boobs. I gained 60 lbs back, so they're full again, but I've already told my husband to kiss 'em goodbye. He says he won't care- he loves me and my boobs regardless of size. I'm the baby! If only I could choose where my fat would disappear from, and in what amounts!

I've had several food funerals lately, and I was careful not to over-do it on calories, was pleasantly surprised at my pre-op appt. (Monday) that I lost six more lbs! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. 1200 calories a day for 12 days and then a two day liquid diet.
Having lunch at my favorite restaurant today, and will probably have a light dinner tonight! Bring on July 2!!

    UPDATE @ 6/12/15
I HAVE changed doctors and I am SOOOO Happy I did. I love my new dr, Diane Kwan M.D General SUrgeon in COncord and Walnut Creek (SAF Bay Area) CA> SHe is the first surgeon to actively practice ROBOTIC (DSaVinci) Surgery in the county and is looking for a candidate for Gastric Sleeve RObotic Surgery. I am too "complicated" in my GERD issues etc and will be doing the SLeeve instead. Dr Kwan is informative, pragmatic and has a great "bedside manner." Her staff, esp Rosalee or Rosie are all wonderful. I couldnt recommend anyone more highly. AM I GLAD I SWITCHED!!! BTW my prior Dr called me pewrsonally after I wrote him a letter exsplaining WHY I was leaving his practice (his B COordinator was rude, incompetent and ageist among other things.) He was on the phone discussing the issue with me for 20 minutes (to his credit!) and hopefully steps will be taken to address the situation. Must commend him for that. But still, Gina at Bay Area SUrgiocal Specialists in Walnut Creek is the pits! SO happy, with all your support, I moved on!

I would caution that if you need to be anything less than honest in your psych eval and with your surgeon and other Doctors who need to clear you for surgery, you aren't ready for the surgery. There is one goal, to have a safe surgery and recovery and in the best place for you to succeed in your weight loss. If you need to lie to yourself or your medical team you are doing a great disservice to yourself and are risking your life.

Here's my update, I had my labs done, my psychological evaluation, got a letter from my Dr recommending the sleeve, met with the surgeon and my insurance requires a 6 month supervised diet with the nutritionist, and I have to loose 5 more pounds, I just had my 4th month visit with the nutritionist and I have lost wieght, each visit, my last visit is the first Friday in August, I think it's the 8th or 9th, then I can submit to my insurance, the surgeon said since I continously lost wieght, I dont have to go on a liquid pre op diet, and the insurance usually approves within 2-4 weeks, he expects for me to have my surgery in September but could possibly be in August, im so anxious but nervous. Thank you for reading my update

the person who lost 100 + pounds read this and said that i didnt report this correctly. to her I AM SORRY. i was just trying to gain more info from other banded people.
she stated that she does not eat cbh only (which i figured no one would eat 3 meals a day of) but thats the only thing that gives a full feeling.
anyhow- ive had enough of the subject and wont be taking any Water pills or asking questions about them.

Hello everyone, I am writing from my hospital bed 1 day post-op. Yesterday was tough due to the effects of anesthesia. I really wasn't in much pain but nauseous and really tired. I literally slept all day. Just felt like I couldn't keep my eyes open. Was able to get a little walking in late last night once I was able to stay awake for a while. I second everyone's comments regarding walking. It really makes ALL the difference in getting the gas out. I'm feeling much better today. Just got back from my GI test and was told my pouch looked superb! Currently awaiting orders from my surgeon to begin liquids. Thanks for the well wishes from everyone and I will keep you posted!

sadavis52111 reacted to Martene81 in Question for the diabetics that were on insulin
I was insulin dependant before my RNY surgery and left the hospital with no meds at all. While I'm very new post op I'm very optimistic about my diabetes remaining in remission. As far as your fears about work...I would much rather return to work than live/die with diabetes any day. Maybe if you changed your outlook and not view things as starting all over, it may help you realize it's actually more of a new beginning. Explore your options, don't let something like fear of returning to work stop you from possibly prolonging your life. I'm sure your family would choose YOU over a retirement check hands down....good luck!

I wasn't an insulin dependent diabetic pre-surgery, but I was taking Metformin and controlling my BS with diet and exercise in addition. Post-surgery I have come off the Metformin completely as well as my blood pressure medicine. My last A1C was 5.7 and I'm now considered a very well controlled diabetic.
