Patience patience. Do not be defensive. I never tell anyone they are full of crap. Ever ever ever. I am too old for that nonsense. Relax, do not take anything so personal. I am 70 years old but don't spend my time in the pea patch like my Grandma did. I am funny, crazy, helpful, sad, loving, and not your enemy.

I'm probably going to get strung up and whipped for this comment but I'm going to risk life & limb here regardless....
I have a lot of respect for the veteran weightloss folk. You guys are very inspiring & some of you have been beyond helpful. I like seeing the banter & joking and I am in no way easy offended by anything.
What I don't like and I don't respect is the way some people just cut others to pieces in such a disrespectful way. It's one thing to advise bluntly that eating a taco or a pork chop is a bad idea (*tacogate*) - that's fair.
It's really not necessary tell someone that their doctor or surgeon or whatever is full of crap when sharing information on this public forum - perhaps those things that didn't work for you might work for someone else? It's really sh*tty to see people treating other people like that. I've had enough of that as a fat person.
    So, letting the whipping begin....

I have never posted pictures on here because I never wanted to put out what I used to look like as I am no longer that person. I am a new person but have come to terms that I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't lived life as a larger person. I also know that when I started out looking at other people's pictures were such at motivation for me so I am hoping these will help someone in return. The picture of me at my largest was after I had my son. I had lost a significant amount of weight before my day of surgery which is the pic of me looking grumpy and in pain.

As of today I have lost 200lbs. I started at 439 and today 239. My goal was to reach 239 by April 1st, but with God's help, hard work at the gym by burning 2000 - 2100 calories a day in cardio and weightlifting and eating around 1100 to 1200 calories a day i have hit my goal much earlier than expected. I'm so proud of myself because i haven't weighed under 250 since i was 13 years old and I'm 38 now. For anyone thinking they can't lose the weight use my story as inspiration because it can be done, and i will help anyone that wants to try. I have to thank my husband and kids for keeping me focused everyday and loving me. I also can't forget the rest of my family, who has also given me the encouragement i needed also.

Hello I am 1 month and almost a week post op. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. After an embarrassing airplane ride I made the decision that I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I decided to have gastric sleeve surgery on the 14th of December 2015. Yeah I know a week before Christmas. It has not been easy not that I want to eat, but finding foods that my new stomach will like has been a challenge. At my heaviest I was 360. Pre surgery diet I was 334 Day of surgery I was 321 and at a month I am 294. I am 5'6 I think if people really knew the struggle of having weight loss surgery, it would not get the negative easy way out stigma it gets. I'm finally past the regret stage. Everyone's journey is different so for me it was really hard to get anything to stay down. I'm much better now still have a hard time finding a Protein Shake that I like. Overall I'm happier with my choice.

All it means is to go back on your pre-op diet, which for most patients was a liquid diet. My pre-op diet was as follows:
    Week 1:
All the Water, tea and sugar free drinks you like
    All the broth you like
All the sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles you like
2 Protein shakes (Breakfast and lunch)
dinner is lean non-breaded meat on a bed of greens
    Week 2:
The same as week one but dinner is replaced with another Protein shake.

I wanted to share a funny story. I had RNY almost 10 months ago and am still getting used to this smaller body. I was standing, holding my phone and needed to use my hands to do something else. I did not have pockets and there was no where to put my phone, so I just put it between my legs (thighs) so I could use my hands. Problem was that it kept falling to the floor. I honestly could not figure out what the issue was until it dawned on me that I did not have enough fat to hold the phone in place. Now that was a first!

A lot depends on cup size and how much you want to spend. Panache is good. Juno. Freya. In the end, good fit is what's most important, and that is the same for an A cup or a J cup. I suggest measuring yourself so you know your size and not rely on a sale's person. 80-90% of women wear the wrong size bra.
    1. The center front of your bra (the gore) lies flat against your breastbone.
    2. The underwire (if your bra has it) sits behind your breast tissue and not on top of it, ensuring full support.
    3. There is no spillage over your cups whatsoever--back band, arm pits, top.
    4. The bra's band lies level across your chest and back; it doesn't ride up.
Also, the breasts should be supported by the band and not the straps.
Here are some good links. (Note, tech. NSFW because of drawings and in video, woman wearing her bra.)

I am a very blessed woman ... I am fortunate enough to work with my husband ( though some would see this as a curse ) ...
So all of our co-workers ( of course ) know us ...
And since my WL journey ... I have heard said ... to my face and otherwise ... that my husband better "put a lock on me" and "watch me" because I just might start fooling around on him ...
    REALLY!?!??!
I am so sick of hearing this I could vomit ... I feel it's completely WRONG and RUDE for people to "assume" that just because I'm losing weight ... doesn't mean I want to lose my husband in the process ...
Thank God he knows where my heart and soul is ... because if he even FOR ONE SECOND believed a word of what people were saying ... omg ... I don't even want to think of that ...
    Geesh.
    Sometimes ... people suck.

Soonergal91 reacted to JustWatchMe in Chasing green? Try this
I've been getting tiny fills now and then over the last year. Four fills of 0.10, with my last one in August. I debated getting one in September but my NP and I decided together to try modifying my food plan and waiting to see those results.
Well, I'm a stubborn old broad, and I resisted making serious changes right away. But here's what I did change over the last four months:
I gave up alcohol completely in September.
I gave up fried food in November.
I gave up my weekly carby Thai overindulgence in December. Do I miss it? Hell yes.
I gave up movie crapcorn completely in December. (Not movies though. I actually smuggled two pears into the movies a few days ago and got a little thrill out of that.)
I began planning, committing, and tracking my food to my OA sponsor and using MyFitnessPal again two weeks ago.
What happened? My band is talking to me again. I feel the stop signals very clearly now. I get the "enough" sensation on much smaller quantities. My dog is loving it because he gets the p rotein I can't finish.
Bottom line is, I had to clean up my food for my band to be able to do its job right. I'm filled enough. I know that now.
The band surgery alone enabled me to drop 2/3 of my excess weight without much behavior modification. Sure, I was eating less, and not eating between meals. But I was emotionally hanging on to my greasy, fried favorites and drinking with friends every weekend, not to mention socking away tubs of buttered crapcorn on a twice-weekly basis. And scratching my head as to why I stopped losing weight.
Making the changes I made above was an incremental process. I wasn't ready to do it until I was ready to do it. I'm really glad that my band stayed consistent while I floundered around figuring this out.
For whatever reason, I'm now motivated to get the rest of this weight off, and to follow the disciplined plan I have worked out with my OA sponsor.
This may or may not help somebody else. But if you're chasing the elusive green zone, and wonder if you really need more fills or not, see if cleaning up your food for a few weeks first makes a difference. It did for me.

Had my 3rd fill on Dec 1st. And I must say that since that fill which was 0.5cc (1cc first two times) I have hardly been hungry at all and when I do eat, my band finally tells me to slow down AND I cannot eat nearly as much. This has to be my green zone because I can't imagine going in for another fill......AND 61.5lbs gone!

Soonergal91 reacted to James Marusek in The effects of tableware size on weight loss
Gareth J. Hollands from the University of Cambridge, U.K., and colleagues, examined data from 72 studies (meta-analysis) that compared at least two groups with respect to their choices of food, alcohol, or tobacco packaging, portion size and tableware (dishes and glasses) size on food consumption.
They concluded "successfully reduce the size, availability and appeal of larger-sized portions, packages, individual units and tableware can contribute to meaningful reductions in the quantities of food (including non-alcoholic beverages) people select and consume in the immediate and short term.”
    http://acsh.org/2015/09/change-your-setting-to-help-you-eat-less/
In other words, one might conclude that in part obesity in the U.S. is related to the large overly generous portion size of meals served in many of our restaurants. Many undergoing WLS change their tableware (the size of their plates, bowls, glasses and spoons) after surgery. This change reduces portion size or the temptation to overeat. Even after 28 months post-op I use a miniature metal spoon to eat which slows the rate that I eat (I tend to gobble food down).
