  1. I hope everyone had a good Christmas! I had my appointment with Katie, the psychologist today. She was happy to see that I had done my homework on the lap band. I told her that I had been on lapbandtalk.com and everyone's stories has helped answer a lot of questions. I am so excited to get started on this journey. I am going to try to walk 30 minutes a day. I started that goal today. I know it will be a lot easier once I get once I start losing weight. Since the holidays are over I am trying to eat healthier. When is the monthly meetings here in Springfield? Do any of you attend the meetings?
  2. Julie, I have enjoyed reading about your journey. You have inspired me since I am just in the beginning of my lap band journey. I hope to have surgery by the end of January. One question I have is about you getting a lower profile port. Since I have not had the surgery I was not for sure the benefits of getting a lower profile port. Thank you so much for sharing and being such an inspiration. You are amazing. Thanks!
  3. MazieMommy - Wow! You are doing wonderful! You are my inspiration! I am so excited to get started on this journey. I know it will be a lot of work but I can not wait. How often do you exercise? Has the Holidays been hard with eating? I think a lot of my questions have been answered by reading a lot on this site. I think the only thing that would make me more comfortable about the procedure is if my Gynecologist new more about the lap-band. Hopefully Dr. Edwards can give me so information so I can give my Gynecologist. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!
  4. Hi Holly, I probably saw you Monday night at the seminar. I was also there. My insurance will not pay for the procedure so I am going to have to pay for it myself. I want to get the procedure done ASAP, too. Mary said the first day long behavorial class is Jan 28, so I do not think I can have the surgery before Jan. 28. My appointment with Dr. Edwards is Jan. 3. Maziemommy- My Gynecologist is Dr. McCorcle with Primrose OBGYN. I agree with you that pregnancy with the band would be a lot better than being obese and pregnant. I just wish he knew more about the band. It would make me feel better, but it has not stopped me from wanting the procedure.
  5. This is a question to the individuals that had Dr. Edwards for their surgery. Did you like Dr. Edwards? Is it hard to get an appointment for a fill? I have my first appointment with Dr. Edwards on Jan.3. He seemed really nice at the seminar. I am getting really excited. I called to make sure that my Gynecologist was okay with the lap-band sugery since I want to have kids in the future. His nurse called and it sounded like my Gynecologist does not know very much about the lap-band procedure. I do not know if this should be a concern. Does anyone have any thoughts on pregnancy and the lap-band. Thanks!
  6. Hello Everyone, I have enjoyed reading all of your post. I also live in Springfield, MO. I went to a seminar tonight that was given by Dr. Edwards. I have turned in all my paper work to Mary. I am hoping to hear something this week. My insurance will not cover the surgery so I will be self pay for the surgery. I am very excited about having the lap-band surgery. Kimberly - I hope your mom is doing okay. My name is actually Kimberly, too. Thanks for letting me join your thread. Kimberly
