I think it depends on the person whether you will be able to eat sushi. I do remember Dr. Edwards saying that you will probably have problems with sticky rice, which is around sushi. I have a friend who had the lap band and she can not eat sushi. She is almost two years out. I love sushi but I figure that sushi does not taste as good as being thin and healthy. Hollygurl - What is your favorite sushi restaurant? Mine is Haruno. I think your psychological evaluation will be fine. I think they just want to let you know where you may struggle to help you mentally be prepared for the surgery. They also want to make sure that you are sane enough to make the decision to have lap band surgery. I hope that helps.

Maziemommy- I have been to the Smoothie King but it was several years ago. I remember the smoothie being very good. I think that sounds like fun! In my opionin Haruno is the best place for sushi. I do not like the raw pieces. I am affraid after I get banded that I will not be able to have sushi because of the sticky rice. Keep me posted on your Dentist appointment. What are you having done? I hate going to the Dentist. I was lucky to have straight teeth and I never had to have braces. I wish I had the same luck with other problems with my teeth. I had a root canal in college and then had more problems with it a couple of years ago. Good luck with the dentist.

I have a two week pre-op diet. The first week is two protein shakes and one small meal per day. The next week right before surgery is three protein shakes per day. I have been on the pre-op diet for four days now and I have lost 7.9 lbs. The pre-op diet has been really hard. I am hoping it will help me with my post-op diet after surgery. My surgery is 2-13-08. Yea!

The Liquid Diet is still going good. I start my full liquids on Wednesday, Feb 6. The only thing that is saving me is that I get to eat one small meal a day. I am trying to keep my calories low so I will not be too hungry during the full liquid week. I have already lost about 7.5 ponds since Wednesday! Yea! Today I went to a movie with my mom and friends and that was hard when everyone was eating popcorn but I hung in there. I am just getting excited for February 13. My journal I started is really helping me. I hope everyone is doing good.

I am being banded on the 13th. I am on my third day of my pre-op liquid diet. It is actually harder than I thought. I can not wait until February 13rh!!!

I have now made it through two days on the pre-op diet. Tonight has been easier than last night. I just had a Protein hot chocolate from the Healthy Weight Supermarket. It was very good. Maziemommy, thank you for the encouragement. The fruit I use in the shake is frozen. They said the vanilla will go with any fruit but the chocolate you should only use frozen strawberries. I really like the vanilla with frozen mixed fruit. If you ever want to try it I could give you a sample of the whey protein. We have both vanilla and chocolate. The container is large and is around $40 after discount. It makes about 40 so it is only around $1 per shake. Tonight has been easier than last night. I hope everybody is being careful in the snow.

The liquid diet has been tough. I do not mind drinking the liquid Protein shakes. The one small meal a day is what is saving me right now. Next week it will be all Protein Shakes. I was really hungry last night but thank goodness I did not give into temptation. So far I have done everything to the book. (It has only been a 1.5 days) Does it get better? I keep telling myself that the liquid diet is a short time. I can not wait until surgery!!! I got a new journal and pen to match. I have been writing down everything I eat in the journal. I thought this would help me stay focused, plus the journal is very cute and that always helps. I really enjoyed the behavioral class. I am glad that the class was so close to me starting the pre-op diet. One of the protein shakes that I found that I like a lot besides the Resses shake is a fruit Protein Shake. The protein is whey protein in the big container at Healthy Weight Supermarket. You add 1 cup of fruit and 1 cup of skim milk to the shake. It is very yummy! Will I be able to have this protein shake after surgery?

Congratulations CandiceNC! I will be excited to hear about how everything goes tomorrow. I am getting banded on February 13. I would like to start trying to get pregnant in about a year, after I have a chance to lose a lot of my weight.

The all-day seminar is different than the first seminar you went to. It is an all day behavioral class. It is one thing that has to be completed before surgery. I would have been able to have my surgery earlier if I the day class would have been offered before now. I think they only offer the day long class once a month. I am getting so excited about the surgery. I am just so worried about doing okay on the pre-op diet. I am cleaning out my pantry this weekend to get rid of any food that I can not have during the pre-op diet or the post-op diet. My dh has happily agreed to eat at my mom's house during the pre-op diet so I do not have to be around people eating meals while I am just having liquids. My husband and my mom have been so great and supportive. Four more days until pre-op diet and only around 2.5 weeks until surgery. Yea!!!:hurray:

Hello Everyone, I am 30 and have been married almost five years to a wonderful guy with two cute poodles. I work as a Desktop Support Specialist. My surgery date is February 13. I am getting very excited. My current weight is around 300 and I would like to get down to 140. I weighed about 140 when I got married and have gained 160 pounds in the last 5 years. I have struggled with my weight all my life. My husband has always been very supportive. We would like to have children but I want to lose a lot of weight first so I will have more energy. I have a heard enough time just taking care of myself. LOL I am excited to get to know all of you that have February surgery dates. Kimberly

Hello, I am getting banded on February 13. I have found a protein shake that I really like that uses 1 cup of frozen furit blended with skim milk. Can you have fruit that is blened in a shake duing your post op diet? Thanks!

Maziemommy - I went to the healthyweightsupermarket today. I really enjoyed talking to the guy working there. He was so informative. I do not remember his name. He really helped me out. I got some hot chocolate. I will let you know how that taste. I also got some bars to try. (I will use them once I get to eat solids). I got the chocolate/pudding mix to try out the recipe you gave me. I also got the whey Protein in vanilla. It is very big but my husband wants to make some shakes, too. He does not have any weight to loose but the gentleman working at the supermarket even got my husband and my mom excited about eating better. Have you ever tried the meals they have at the healthyweightsupermarket? I am getting so excited for my sugery date, February 13. Today I went walking at the gym. I wanted to exercise for the last two weeks but I have been getting over a bad cold. Today I felt better. Maziemommy how is your mom doing?

Maziemommy - I start my preop diet on January 30. I thought this weekend I would get some shakes to try out. Does anyone have any suggestions on shakes that you really like?

Hello Everyone! I am officially now a February Bandster! My sugery date is February 13. I got preadmitted on Tuesday and did all the test. I hope everything comes back okay. I am getting very excited and nervous. I start the preop diet on January 30. One week with liquids and one small week and then the week before sugery an all liquid diet. I am excited to get to know everyone!:smile:

Maziemommy - How is your fill? I finally have a sugery date. I will be getting the lapband on Wednesday, February 13. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. I had my last appointment on Tuesday with Dr. Edwards and got preadmitted. I have my day class on January 28. I forgot about the group meeting on last Monday night. I was planning on going but I forgot all about it when Monday rolled around. I hope everyone is doing good.:smile:
