  1. @@on the fence 2 - that is all very normal. The pain in the shoulder could be from gas, it could be from a repaired hernia. Or it could be referred pain from the nerves around the stomach. They are all possibilities. I had it until about six months. Now here's the fun part. After I eat too big of bites I get the pain there too and I'm at nine months. So eat slow eat small bites and the pain does go away slowly but surely
  2. Hi there. I did Pilates after my surgery. It is going really well and I just adore it. But I waited about four weeks after surgery before I did any of the heavy stuff like the pilates is one hundreds. I tried a little bit before four weeks and I noticed some pressure in my incision so that's why I waited about 4 weeks.
  3. I hope i will not to put a damper on this topic. I am nine months out and I still cannot eat salads. The lettuce keeps coming back on me so we haven't added it to my diet.
  4. I love love love michelle's sugar free Protein pudding. Here is the recipe. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/12/holly-jolly-premier-protein-pudding-jars.html
  5. I remember my first visit to a restaurant. I had the same recollection in the same overwhelming feeling of judging to everyone around me. It actually has gotten so much better lately. I think the hormones make us extra sensitive to everything and because we can't eat we miss it. It will go away and you don't notice it as much later. Another piece of advice. When I went out my overwhelming feelings made me very sad. And my poor husband sat there and i did not tell him. Make sure your support system know. This way you can talk it out and let your feelings out rather than hold the man and get extra sad or emotional.
  6. @@Cutepretty1 Hi cutie. Yeah that's normal. It'll be OK. Just add layers and do your best it to keep warm. It does go away . I promise.
  7. I just made cups of pudding. They are so awesome. Here's the recipe. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2015/12/holly-jolly-premier-protein-pudding-jars.html You could make a couple with the Protein and a couple regular.
  8. Good for you. These NSV continue to make me emotional too. My favorite one has been when the hubby puts his arms completely around me. Who knew a hug was so GREAT!!!
  9. I get the sandwiches on flatbread too - then I just get hubby to eat the bread. In case you wonder, an oven roasted chicken breast from subway is 2.25 oz (very nice portion control).
  10. What about some exercise stuff? medicine ball, straps for stretching, that sort of thing.
  11. ahhhhh - another week in this stall. 224
  12. Great list.... My new favorite....husband picked me up. It was crazy romantic!
  13. Hi. I travel often for work. And I noticed the quest singleserving packs work great with the blend with the shaker bottle. Also- i get the 30g protein bars too!
  14. I am at Nine months, and I'm still very cold. However sometimes I do warm-up and I noticed that this is when I'm actually in a stall with my weight. So when I'm cold I lose when I warm I don't.
  15. Congrats.... you will do GREAT. Take a deep breath... this is the first steps to an amazing new life.....
  16. so... here is my words of wisdom. The surgery is really a non-issue - I can say that now that mine in done. I think the hardest part is after the surgery. Couple of things - tell your surgeon. Get some anti-anxiety meds, they will help you get through this. Also, look into meditation or yoga breathing. That helped me too. Good luck. You will both do great!!!
  17. I am pleased with my approach. I waited the 6 months and mentally got myself ready for the surgery and the aftermath. I personally think everyone need to prepare mentally, physically and socially for this surgery. I felt great about my physical and social states, mental is another story. Today (post 8 months) I am really looking at my eating habits since I am finding myself doing some of my old habits... like grazing when I am not really hungry. I wish I spent more time with a coach/ therapist trying to identify any issues like binge eating before the surgery. I know I am a binge eater and if I knew this before surgery, I could have had strategies on how to deal. I am getting there now but wish I knew before surgery I have this compulsive behaviour.
  18. I have similar challenges with my family. I decided not to tell the family about my surgery - instead just told them I am changing my diet completely and I would appreciate them not talking to me about food and not expecting me to attend food related event. For a few of them, its going great. for others, not so much. About 2 months after surgery, I needed to lay down the law officially. I made a phone call to each family member saying our conversations going forward need to not be regarding food at all. If they want to talk to me, food cannot be in discussion. No more lunches, no more dinners. I would love to spend time with them with a cup of tea or going for a walk. It's been a learning process for both of us. As an Italian, every family get together revolves food and large amounts. So they are trying.... I think. But at 8 months, I still remind my mother, where our boundaries are. Just last night in fact.... something powerful happens when you take control and tell the family this is how it will be. You can do it... set up your success and you will feel stronger for it.
  19. Love it.... I lost my pants last week at the gym.. too bad I could not tell - had to have someone say... you know we can see your underwear.... normal for young boys, but for middle aged women....
  20. @ - yes i traveled during the week before surgery and then my trip was post 10 days after surgery ( I was in soft food phase - so shakes, Soup and lots of yogurt). My surgery did not have a liques diet until 2 days before surgery - at my trip I was on a pre-op diet but not liquid only. I will say - my first trip was hard (I was still building strategies). I am now better at planning. Reach out (send my a message) if you want to talk live about how I travel now.
