Subway Salads

So before my surgery I loved eating Subway. So now that I'm post surgery I of course can't have the sandwiches because of the carbs. However, I've found a substitution, Subway salads. They are awesome! I tend to get a veggie one and add pepper jack cheese and possibly a meat, usually either ham, turkey or bacon. For dressing, I love their chipotle. It takes me 2-3 days to eat the whole thing but it's good. If you are going to get one I would recommend you skip the tomatoes as they tend to leak their Water content which ruins the salad. Don't get salt and pepper on it either as the salt draws out the water as well.

I get the sandwiches on flatbread too - then I just get hubby to eat the bread. In case you wonder, an oven roasted chicken breast from subway is 2.25 oz (very nice portion control).

I agree. I love getting my favorite "pre-sugery" subs as a salad. You still get all the flavor without the bread. Great choice!

my gallbladder won't let me eat salads, oh how I miss them so!!

I went to subway yesterday for the first time post surgery and got tuna salad and cheese in a cup. I got another cup with toppings: tomato, cucumber, peppers, olives. It was delicious.

At other places, like Arby's, I just get a sandwich without the bread (for instance turkey club).

Interesting! So you have your gall bladder?

I ask because I had mine removed in 2009 and that is the one food that I cannot eat since it got removed. I have immediate dumping if I eat a salad now. Or raw mushroom. So weird!

Do you have Jimmy John's near you? You could do their "Unwich" which is a breadless sub in a few leaves of romaine. I loved them even presurgery!
