  1. @@thisfathasgot2go - thanks for the PDF idea... I had no idea... love it!!!
  2. Is it hard to drink or is it just hard to drink the amount they want? I will say this - At 2 months, I was very tired of Water so i had a hard time drinking it. As long as I flavored it, it seems to go down better. I use the following to make water more interesting: 1-2 sliced of cucumber crystal light miyo meyo... or sugarless water flavor decaf tea - and then make it iced. My favorite is a blackberry from Target (in the KCups)
  3. Isn't it a strange feeling? Never thought I would "not be hungry" I just started to get hungry again - at 6 months out. For the first 6 months I ate on a schedule otherwise I would not eat at all. One thing to note - if I thought I was hungry before I really was not - that was my "head" telling me it's noon and I should eat. So start to learn how your body is now with the pouch. Head hunger is different than pouch hunger. This took be about a month or two to learn the difference.
  4. I am at 7 months and I still have one per day (and the one I have is 35 g per shake). My food still only gets me to about 50-55 g Protein.
  5. I am anxious to hear from others... I have not found one with a good enough Protein count vs carb to try.
  6. @skepchick- if the history is there, talk to an OBGYN and see what their recommendation is. My mother had ovarian and grandmother had breast. I started Mammos at 35.
  7. hi... what a great guide. Nice - you included all of my points. I would like to give my opinion - I too am 6 months out and my doctor / NUT has given me different calories and food limits. Since I am still trying to lose right now, I still eat between 600-800 calories per day with the goal of 80 G Protein. I really want to point you back to your surgery team for their recommendation. They know how big your pouch is and how best to maintain it.
  8. many doctors really do not know the struggles of overweight people. Here is an article that really helped me talking with other doctors. http://www.thelancet.com/journals/landia/article/PIIS2213-8587%2815%2900009-1/abstract another piece of advice - get a new PCP. you really need a supportive one for the next year. J
  9. @@MissAKY - there. I work in Redwood City and would be willing to meet you if you need some help after work anytime. I am six months out from surgery and I have surgery at good Samaritan in San Jose.
  10. Another idea- maple syrup as a sweetener. I personally like agave and honey.
  11. Sure you talk to your doctor. There are lots of options help with anxiety . trust me if you need them take them.
  12. The thing to watch out for with flight so quickly after surgery is blood clots. Make sure you talk to your doctor he may want you to wear compression socks.
  13. @@BigViffer - my doctor said maybe a year after my new normal. He was unsure how long. More great news...
  14. hi - I am also at 6 months and I still stick with 2 oz of Protein and 1 oz of veggies so still at 3 oz of food for each meal. I am still losing - have 50 pounds till goal. I will say - I can eat 5 oz of yogurt (one container) since its goes down easier. Definitely watch the slider foods - but dense protein for me is still 2-3 oz total.
  15. The taste in your mouth - yes that is normal. It might be from the fluids or from the Protein shakes if you are drinking them already. I found sugar free mints somewhat helped - but I could only have them in my mouth for a few minutes - then they made me nauseous at the beginning. The bloating will lessen as your body absorbs the gas and fluids. Keep moving - it will help. And no need to move fast - just move...
  16. I am sorry for the pain. Definitely try a gasex and contact your surgeon or doctor. Hope it passes quickly.
  17. Here is what I have learned. I too have the same problem. I recently visited a vascular surgeon about this issue. He explains that because I have lost so much weight so fast, the vessels in my legs are slower to pump blood back up to my core organs and brain so the lightheaded feeling take a minute. After I get up from sitting, after I exercise or after I get up from the floor, I need to take 5-10 seconds to let the blood vessels do their job and then I am good to continue. Hope this helps.
  18. So we all see the signs about Boobie month - Happy Breast Cancer Awareness month. I know we all talk about how they ("our girls") are shrinking with weight loss.... I just had to share my Friday morning moment. Got to the office, went to kitchen to cut my apple and get my yogurt. As I am walking, I look down at my feet. And what do I notice, my stomach is not the first thing ... nope, it's my boobs. It really made me laugh - my boobs are now bigger than my stomach. YEAH!!!
  19. Hi folks.... I can be a buddy for you. I am 6 months out and would love to pay it forward . Just message me.
  20. Now that we have all passed the 6 month mark - what is the hardest part for you? for me... I find myself wanting (I mean really wanting ) to eat more. I think my hunger hormone is back with a passion. Any ideas.... I am using Water as my stop gap but I admit - afternoon is the hardest.
  21. @@paulatoney - just checking in. Sending good thoughts you are back on track. Remember - protien, Water, and no carbs.... this is still my mantra after 6 months
  22. you look great - and the outfit really shows your curves. Keep you the good work!!!
  23. @@joatsaint - you beat me to it... I love the sugar snap crisps... They come in black bean flavor too. Trader Joes has both kinds. 22 crisps for 120 calories and 5 g Protein. I eat and good for at least two hours.
