I got mine for June 15.. Excited and ready.. But I don't want my job to know . Any suggestions.

I am scheduled for June 15. I'm excited but nervous. I have told no one. My family is not supportive of the surgery. I have been planning on this for a few years, now.

I'm getting sleeved on june 15th. I don't know if i'm excited or scared. Maybe a little of both.

"Why is Protein important?
Proteins are a part of every cell, tissue and organ in our bodies. These body Proteins are constantly being broken down and replaced. The body does not store Protein for later use, therefore consuming adequate high quality protein is necessary, otherwise the body will inevitably suffer. When protein intake is not adequate, the body will break down lean body mass to compensate for poor oral intake. Loss of lean body mass is inevitable for WLS patients or individuals following a very low calorie diet. To minimize that loss, sufficient high-quality protein must be consumed."

I need some help on where to start I'm looking to get a sleeve and only want to spend maximum $5000, would like to be in the hospital instead of a clinic. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

For me personally...once I took my ego out of the picture and reread the article, I agree with it in its entirety. The first time I read it, i was a little perturbed by the 100 lbs being solely attributed to WLS. I lost 60 pounds prior to surgery by following the bariatric diet. Then I reread the article and inferred that the author isn't talking about what we lost prior to surgery. He or she is talking about what we do AFTER surgery.
Personally, I know that I am no different from anyone else. I know that if I go off my plan, eat whatever I want, exercise when/if I want to...I will gain all the weight back and then some. And I've worked too hard to let that happen. This article helped me FOCUS and stop making excuses.

I recently did a google search for photos of people with various body mass numbers so I could get a better idea on what I should target.
I ran across this interesting web site that generates a simulated front and side view of a man or woman. Simply enter gender, age, height, and weight then press calculate bmi. You can then drag a slider up or down to simulate a lower or higher BMI.
I found it helpful.

I am also flying on June 14 from DFW into San Diego. My surgery is on June 15 with Dr Jesus Martin Lopez in TJ. Maybe we will meet each other there. My husband is traveling with me. Is anyone going with you?

Hi, I'm scheduled with Dr Garcia too. I fly in on the 14th. I'm soooo nervous yet excited at the same time. My father & I are having it done together.

Anyone going to Mexico in June, 2015? I will be flying in on June 14th, surgery on June 15th with Dr. Fernando Garcia. Anyone else going to be in TJ in June? Who is your surgeon? When will you be there?

Insurance, possibly the most rigorous part (to-date) of the whole gastric sleeve journey, has approved my procedure. It took 3 days to approve after my surgeon's office finally submitted all of the paper-work. I'm scheduled for surgery in the middle of June, first patient of the day -- my hope is that the surgeon is well rested and on his "A" game.
My program is through Washington University in St. Louis.

I started exploring Bariatric programs and options in December 2015 and joined this site in January 2015. I know we all go through this and I'm not going to give excuses - just need to vent how frustrating it can feel!!!

Hi my name is Leana. I am from Missouri and currently 267# and 5ft3in. I have been over weight my entire life but this is the heaviest I have ever been. My kids are 12, 11, and 10 so I can't even use that as an excuse for my weight anymore. I love food especially sweets and other carbs like breads. I've been an RN for 7 years so I know what I'm doing wrong I just don't have much will power. It's embarrassing to say I'm a nurse and yet I'm morbidly obese. I've just started my journey. I've met with my surgeon, dietitian, and councilor. I had a sleep study and attempting to cut out soda, alcohol, and drink more Water. And of coarse exercise 30 min a day. Most of my family is over weight and don't think that surgery is the best option. I kind of feel alone at times with this, but I have made my decision. I am only 35 and allready have back issues that will require fusions in the future. I want to feel better physically and emotionally. I pray that I'm on the right track.
