I just know that for myself I was glad someone told me that in order to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle I needed to eliminate these things. I needed someone to tell me that. If I cheat and have pizza, then I know from 30 years of obesity what will happen. If everything goes good with the pizza then next time there is pizza I will say oh that's ok you can have that. Then when I'm presented with a Debbie snack I will say just one won't hurt..... Until I have the next "just one". I'm glad my nutritionist is a healthy whole-foods clean eating person. I want to learn to get as much enjoyment from a strawberry as I do a Debbie Snack. I want to lead by example for my children and grandchildren and show them that processed foods and refined sugars are bad and we can live without them. We each have our own journey. We each choose our own path. I just don't think I can do this and not follow the advise of my NUT.

Once i reached the point where I could do more than walk, I went to a local gym and spoke to a trainer and told him he had to keep me going. I go three days a week to the gym and other days I get on my elliptical at home for a little bit in the morning. I try and be active on non-gym days by mowing the lawn or parking a block away from things.

After 10 years of watching my weight creep up up up into the 200s and finally topping out at 260, I am finally seeing a 1 before my weight again! I really like it here, I'm never going back!!! Another 8 lbs and I'll weigh what I lied and told the DMV I weighed LOL

First, I would say don't beat yourself up. You really do have it in you to do this.... We all do!
Second, stop drinking alcohol on the weekends. Especially 4-5 drinks. That is a lot of empty calories and heavy guilt.
I completely understand the stressful job. I started carrying a cooler with me that has P3 Protein Snacks, Greek yogurt, Water and Protein shakes. If I get stuck or have forgotten to eat I have something healthy to fall back on.
No matter the job, everyone is allowed breaks and meals. Is there a gym nearby you can join? Can you walk some steps or walk around the parking lot?
Definitely log your food. I am absolutely overwhelmed with learning to eat a balanced diet, but like I said above, we can do this! We have it in us.
The only other suggestion I can make is start over with a week of Clear liquids. Life is all about do-overs. I read somewhere once that we can't let failure define us, let getting back up and starting again and again and again and not giving up define us.

I certainly didn't imply that you were lazy for 30 years. I know me and I know my situation. I know that I was a lazy couch potato in the sense of exercise and willingness to eat right. My post was about me. Not about you or anyone else and I am sorry if my wording implied so.
Yes of course biology and genetics plays a role. I am also realistic and at this point willing to see that I failed myself over the years because of my own unwillingness to exercise and eat healthy. I wasn't willing to do the work needed. Now I am.

I am 51, post-menopause with a starting BMI of 51. I have lost 39 pounds in 10 weeks. I have no idea what I expect to lose and as long as I lose I really don't care. I will admit that when I only lose 1 or 2 pounds a week it can be discouraging but I'm just so happy for my loss so far. One up side is that I have not had a stall. I have lose 1 to 2 pounds a weeks consistently.

Thank you for wording it much better than I was able to. Because of the sleeve it is easier to control the cravings, easier to stop eating when I'm full, easier to not binge eat. We will all work hard to get to our goal. But having the sleeve has made it doable.

Hey everyone! I haven't been on here in a very long time. I'm doing well. Recently relocated to Houston, TX from Milwaukee, WI. I'm down to 168lbs and trying to hold steady. I guess I could get to 150 but I'm happy with the current results and don't want to go too much lower. It's a challenge tho, that's for sure. Hope you all are doing well! I'll post pics soon. I'm not big on taking pics but I'll get there eventually lol

I will be a self-pay and have no intention of wasting $15,000 on a drink of alcohol. My brother the alcoholic however would have cut himself open for a drink of alcohol. Most alcoholics justify their consumption in every way possible. Also from what I've read and been told, the affects of that bad choice might not be seen for weeks. So I hope no one experiences a leak and is hospitalized

For me this is something I have to be constantly diligent about. I have a 30 minute timer on my phone that I will start after drinking and after eating. The hardest part is eating out and convincing the wait staff that they do not need to bring me anything.

Needed a shopping break so went to my favorite mexican restaurant. Ordered the 3 shredded chicken tacos...then I'd have dinner for a couple days! Saving a ton on food! So I ate my 1 taco, didn't touch the Water or chips and asked for a box. My waiter, bless his heart, was so worried. "Did you not like it? Can I bring you something else, do you want some warmer chips? Hotter salsa, cheese dip? Bottled water? He was do distraught. I didn't want to explain myself obviously so I assured him everything was delicious, which it was, and left. Poor guy was absolutely wringing his hands....

As of this week's weigh-in (Wednesday) I hit one of my major goals of 200 lbs lost since my highest weight.
    Here are my stats:
HW: 491 (2.5 months prior to surgery)
    SW: 422
    CW: 290.5
    Total loss: 200.5!!
I'm really exited to have hit this milestone. This month (and last month) has been my slowest rate of loss since surgery and it's been very frustrating for me (even though I'm thankfully not in a stall!), so it was good to make this goal this week! I'm still about 135 from my ultimate goal and my surgeon's ultimate goal for me. It's just crazy to think that I ORIGINALLY had about 335 lbs to lose and now I "only" (haha) have 135 to lose! It's been almost 11 months since my highest weight and I've come so far. It's mind-boggling to me.
So, I don't know if anyone else has done this, but I totally threw a party this weekend to Celebrate my accomplishment and invited all my friends/loved ones. I also happen to be moving (about an hour away) this week so I guess technically it was a farewell to my fat party and just a general farewell party! Haha.
Definitely something worth celebrating. This is the first proper party I've thrown since surgery, and it went really well. Just as an NSV I feel like parties have historically been very food-centric for me. Snacking the entire time, always going back for more. But this was different. I thought it would be tempting to keep snacking on small amounts and that I would over-eat, but I absolutely did not. This really is a new me!
Oh! And I made a really yummy cheesy riced cauliflower dish (made the recipe up myself) that everybody loved! So that's always a plus!
