I am also with Dr. Geiss. My surgery is Aug, 28th. He is booking for the 3rd week in July but I'm going away. I am from Commack.

I just got my date with Dr. Geiss. I couldn't do July so I picked Aug. 28th They are scheduleing for the 3rd week in july.

I wanted to see how you are doing after a year. I am also 39 year old commack resident going to Dr. Geiss.Any info you can give would be great

I think with my kids the less told the better. They are 6 and 11 . I asked my daughter the 6 year old if there was a operation to help get skinny what does she think. She freaked out. She says she loves me and doesn't care if I am overweight. My son would also freak out. I would tell them when I get home. They would also tell everybody which the only other person who knows is my husband.-elisa P.S. You have to know your audience. If they can handle it go for it. My Dr. keeps us there over night.

dont tell them anything or you will give them anxity. You will stress them out.

That's funny do you have any kids in the commack schools? I have one at woodpark and one at middle school. How are you doing with the band?

Yes I am ready. I have yet to meet the Dr. although I have met everbody else. In the morning I have my appt. with him. I went the wrong day but I met a girl there and she said she is down 30 pds in 3 -1/2 months . I am ready.

Yes With my ins I don't have to wait 6months. I am still trying to make a decision if I am ready. I am doing it but I am almost dreading it. I know I havent been successful in any diet so I hope this will be the right decision. Who is your Dr? _Elisa

I decided to use Dr. Geiss after all. I want to know since I cant see him till 3/5 I want to have things already done. I have an appt with their nutritionist and pulmonolgist regular Dr. for letter to ins I had already a cardiologist (stress test) What else do they require?-Thanks Elisa

Since you just had it done, I wanted to know how you felt the few days after.-I will have the banding done in 4/08 and I'm getting nervous. Who did you use?Elisa

Did you really lose 84 pds in 3 1/2 months?

I really don't want to run into the city. I am in Commack and if there is a problem I don't want to go there trailing kids ect. Why did one have the bypass while the others did the Lap? How does the bypass person feel?-Elisa

You lost a lot of weight. I am a little more than what youstarted at. I have read some of your mail because you used Dr. Garber. One person wrote and said she is not happy w/the office how do you feel with the office and quality of care. I want them to know what they are doing. What do you think?

Ann how do you like the office? The Nutritionist is a 1X 250 and the pyscologist is a 1X 300. The Dr. takes my insurance out of network but he said he will take what they give him and won't make me pay out of pocket the trest. My fills would be 50.00. How many time a month do you need it filled? I just want to make sure this is the best decision. Dr geiss I cant even see him till the end of March . How do most people feel with Dr. Garber? I am just nervous. Dr. Garber said he has done 650 lap bands I am going to ask him if his personally did it or if that is the number that the office produced together. What hospital did you go to and did you think they were goog?-Elisa

What is the realize band? I did here of the lower band vs the higher but, I'm not sure what the difffrence is in any of them. If you know some info let me know-Elisa

Thank you. The pain that I ment was when you eat food and it gets stuck. People said there is a pain. I just wondered how bad is the pain and how fast it goes away. Thank You for answering so many questions. I keep going back and forth between the bypass and the lap band. I am leaning toward the lap band. I have youg kids and I don't know if I want to take the risks.Elisa
